Brydges Landscape Architecture

We recently purchased a property that had a huge, disused vegetable patch in the front. We live adjacent to a forest and were not interested in fighting the wildlife for the produce. I called Paul and said, "Make this better". We, personally, have no experience building gardens or landscapes so were leaving ourselves entirely in Paul's hands - the only stipulation was that it all be native species. From this blank slate Paul created a beautiful, sustainable, all-native plan. We took his recommendation for a contractor to build and install it for us. The project, the largest I have ever undertaken, went flawlessly and without a hitch. We removed bad trees, planted over 20 new ones, installed a gardent structure and created a natural landscape that is in harmony with the land around us. We used Brydges Landscape to design our primary home’s entire garden and entertaining space, as well as our cottage. Both had complex layouts and we wanted to take advantage of native vegetation and plants. Paul and his team are a true expert in the craft, and a must go to if you’re looking for expert knowledge and beautiful designs. 10 stars!!

We used Brydges Landscape Architecture for a couple of projects at our previous house. The final results were amazingly beautiful. We have since moved to a condo, and have called on them again to help us update the small front and back yards. We now have plans in hand to move forward, and we are looking forward to some great results.

Our story: We knew we wanted to refresh our backyard living area while adding a hot tub/gazebo/fire pit, and we also knew we needed to widen our driveway to accommodate our growing family and tight parking space, and overall we thought we might also try to create a more intimate private and cozy backyard oasis along with some landscape and softscape features. But where to start? What big picture design ideas/options? What kind of budget? Etc., We were becoming overwhelmed with ideas and unsure where to start. This was slowing us down. Through referral, along came Paul and his Brydges team! They most effectively and empathetically extracted our poorly formed ideas and turned them into a cohesive blueprint. After very few meetings we had everything we needed to arrange for permits, obtain contractor referrals (from Brydges) review the quotes and enter into the project which is now coming to a most satisfying conclusion. Paul and his team, were very easy to work with, brought fabulous designs and ideas and even helped us navigate with the City to get permitting. We highly recommend their work and will willingly showcase our final product and let Brydges creativity and professionalism take the credit.

We were very excited to work with Paul, however I highly would not recommend his firm. Lack of communication and proactive engagement left us feeling underwhelmed and disappointed. Timing of the drawings took longer than anticipated, with no real flare or imagination, it was a very frustrating and disappointing process. For the expense, we were left very disappointed and the level of the landscaping speaks for itself. Chasing him on deliverables and having to drive creativity was so disappointing. It was a huge waste of time and money. I have attached photos for all to see the type of work they do.

Transformational!! Brydges Landscape were so great to work with. They listened to what we wanted, designed it, and helped make it happen. Our backyard had lots of unusable space and Paul was able to envision it as a much more functional backyard. One of our most important criteria was to have a sense of flow throughout the various sections of the yard. We now have an oasis that will be enjoyed for years to come as an entertainment hub or just for our quiet retreat on weekends.

In the past we had spent thousands of dollars on our front gardens to end up with dead plants and a messy looking area. Paul and Haley's vision has transformed the area. Years later the plants are thriving, the hardscaping is beautiful and the curb appeal is undeniable. Much appreciated!

Paul and his team were very in tune with my vision and goals. Paul was quick to respond personally when some expected but major changes had to be made. My drainage issues were addressed and I am thrilled with the plant selection. I look forward to working with Paul on phase 2!
