Buena Tile + Stone

Abysmal Buena Tile + Stone Customer Service I was an ABC licensed contractor and had my own Project and Construction Management consulting business for years. In my 30 plus years in the design, engineering and construction business, I have not had as miserable a customer experience as I had received from trying to work with Buena Tile + Stone. Buena Tile + Stone was the supplier for their business partner’s concrete tiles. Buena Tile + Stone said that these tiles were an appropriate replacement for Saltillo tiles which we needed to replace at a home I purchased in 2020. Shortly after installing the concrete tiles on two exterior sets of stairs in 2021, they began failing – first the color came off the tiles (and continues to come off the tiles/fade two plus years after installation), then extreme efflorescence and spalling began. The color can be wiped off uninstalled tiles which was not expected. As you can see from the photos of the project installation, the material was a huge disappointment. Trying to work with and resolve the issues with Buena Tile + Stone was infuriating. Messages left for the owner and manager to return phone calls from both me and my contractor were never returned. Months later, I finally had to physically go to their showroom and to get any attention from management. One partner did finally come out to site in March of 2023 – and brought her forensic expert. They both acknowledged that they had seen the color come off the same manufacturer’s concrete tile at least once before. They thought the efflorescence was excessive. They didn’t want to discuss the spalling. After that meeting, I understood that Buena Tile would work with me, my contractor, and the manufacturer to find some solutions. However, there was no help, only delay tactics in dealing with me and my contractor. We received little response, no empathy, no apologies for what happened, no ownership or responsibility for the failed color coat and no answers or help actually trying to address and resolve the issues. It was a terrible experience working with Buena Tile + Stone and their partner’s concrete tile is the worst product I have used or seen in 30 years in the business. The lack of response and care shown to me as a Buena Tile + Stone customer was shocking and disappointing. I will never do business with them again.

I love this company! I have been using Buena Tile now for at least 25 years. They constantly update their collections, so there is no worry about being outdated! The owner goes to Italy himself every year to the tile show and selects the most outrageous, beautiful tiles he can find. I know I can get budget friendly and absolutely the most luxe tile there is at Buena Tile in Ventura and Santa Barbara. I love the sales reps, they always follow up personally, every time.

I've had the opportunity to visit both of Buena Tile's stores and shoot some photos for them at a hotel job site. Their products are great, their showroom is fantastic, and the people behind the company are a pleasure to work with.
