We were fortunate to partner with the Canalfront team on our design and build in Lewes and we highly recommend them. While we interviewed several exceptional area builders what sold us was the comprehensive approach to design, build, and project management that Mark Fitzgerald has implemented with his Canalfront team. This was particularly important to us as we built from afar - being out of state, 5+ hours away. We also valued all the technological tools they brought to our project, including 3D visual design software, an app for ongoing communication on any and every issue, and 360 degree pre drywall photos that will be invaluable any time there’s an unanticipated issue that emerges behind our walls. Additionally upon completion of our home we were presented with several rounds of opportunity to address current and future punch list items, an organized, 25+ page warranty binder with materials on every system and appliance, and a 2 year/20 year home warranty. Through it all we were fortunate to build a close, collaborative relationship with each of the team members - including reviewing the initial specs for the size and scope of our project with Myron, coordinating the look and feel, from wish list fixtures thru price performer finishes with Ann, to the site-work, phasing, ground break and every phase of the build that Mike meticulously managed. They ALL remained just a text away if questions arose. All the while Mark was an exceptional team Leader and client resource - able to help us do our best to achieve our budget, run down challenges with the developer, liaise with the City, and handle unintended issues that emerged with clear, timely, and supportive communication. No build today is simple or cheap - particularly during challenging economic times, global pandemic conditions, labor shortages, and supply chain issues - but working with this design - build team and the consistent, clean, and reliable cohort of vendors, trades, and suppliers Canalfront has nurtured has allowed them to create an exceptional product and build us what we truly consider our dream home. We have built several custom homes in our lifetime and our experience with Canalfront was by far the easiest. From the design services with Myron and Ann to the attention to detail while building our home from Mark and Mike, we couldn’t be happier. We have been in our home for over a year. When we started building our home, so many people told us it would be a stressful process. They obviously hadn’t worked with Canalfront. My husband and I are young and planning to start a family, and this was the biggest financial decision we’ve ever made. We knew going in that Canalfront did great work — they built homes for both my cousin and my mother. (Three people from the same family choosing the same builder is a strong testimonial in itself, I think.) We absolutely could not be happier with our new home. Canalfront’s standard of craftsmanship and attention to detail is truly impressive. Ann is patient and incredibly organized and methodical as she walks you through selections. She is realistic about your budget and so helpful with suggesting places to save or more cost-effective alternatives. Mike, the project manager, sent construction updates every week, as well as progress pictures. (I work in the trades, and I’m here to tell you — a project manager of his caliber is hard to find.) My husband and I are kind of type-A people, not generally the best at surrendering control. But with Canalfront, we knew our home was in great hands, and we just let them take the wheel. The whole team is friendly, honest, and responsive, and they take pride in their work. If something goes wrong, you can have complete confidence that they’ll make it right. Thank you so, so, so much. Canalfront just completed our beautiful farm style house in Lewes, DE. Mark and his team did a terrific job designing, outfitting, and building us a dream house that exceeded our expectations. Building a custom house requires a lot of decision making and patience and Canalfront's front loaded process turned out to be a huge benefit especially during the many supply chain issues that other builders were experiencing. Couple small delays but not much in the end compared to all the choices that were made along the way. Their subcontractors are top notch, and the finished house shows. You will not be disappointed working with Mark Fitzgerald and his team.

We love our Canalfront home. Every member of their team is professional, knowledgeable, responsive, and even fun to work with! Our home was completed ahead of schedule and the attention to detail and workmanship is terrific. Having never worked with a builder before, we were very apprehensive about the process, the many decisions required, etc., etc. Thanks to Mark, Ann, Myron, Mike, and everyone involved in building our home, we are now champions for home building. They listened to our broader objectives for our Forever Home, and from planning and architecture to design and construction, they helped us achieve our vision. Choosing a house builder felt like a daunting task. We read many articles on how to choose a builder and interviewed multiple local companies. Ultimately, we chose Canalfront Builders. Why them? It felt right to us. After talking with Mark and Myron, we felt they would listen and work with us to make the home we wanted within our budget. Mark and his team have extensive industry experience and exceeded our expectations. They guided us through the process from identifying and modifying a house plan to fit our family’s immediate needs to a finished structure on our lot. They take pride in the houses they build and incorporate details we never would have thought about. Doing the right thing is unfortunately not the norm in many companies, but Canalfront just does it because they care about their clients. No one could have predicted our house would be planned and built in the middle of a pandemic, but the team pivoted to help us move forward with selections amid retail stores closing because of lockdowns. They started the build and kept us informed of the progress weekly while also addressing any questions (and I had many – thankfully they were very patient with my millions of questions) and concerns we had along the way. They finished our house on time and we are thrilled with the workmanship and quality. It is everything we hoped for and more. Our family looks forward to the many years we will have in our forever home.

Canal Front Builders did a tremendous job on our new home. The entire team was incredible. Having vetted a number of very good builders, we selected Canal Front Builders and were extremely happy with our choice. Their approach to the building process is one of the reasons why we selected them. They were upfront and honest in every aspect. Their experience in design and building was evident throughout the project. They designed a spectacular home in accordance with the building codes, setbacks and height restrictions. Their communication was spectacular and exceeded our expectations. We were consulted for every decision, including options and cost ramifications. A significant amount of the construction occurred in the midst of the pandemic making traveling to the site difficult, but we were able to view hundreds of photos through their building software so that we understood each step of the process, costs and options. When you make a decision to build a home, you have ideas of what you want, but not all those may not fit within your budget. Canal Front listened to those ideas and found alternatives which ended up being better and more cost efficient. The construction process and their attention to detail was like watching Tom Silva from This Old House. In the end we have an incredibly beautiful home that was turned over to us on time and within our budget. During the process, we felt like we were working with our friends and not a vendor. If you are planning on building a home, we strongly recommend Canal Front. You will not be disappointed!

We are extremely happy with our custom home built by Canalfront Builders. We interviewed several other builders before signing, but chose Canalfront because they listened to what we wanted. Mark and Myron are extremely knowledgeable, and made the process appear seamless. Ann's expertise with design was crucial, she is extremely talented. Mike kept us informed throughout the process, which was a challenge living out of state. The Co-construct software was extremely helpful. Canalfront Builders did a fantastic job building us a beautiful custom home. Mark and Myron helped us custom design our house with everything we wanted, providing valuable advice during the entire design process and improving our ideas. They have extensive knowledge in construction that came in handy as we put our ideas on paper. We had a great experience with Ann, who helped us whittle down the overwhelming interior choices to a manageable amount, and was invaluable in keeping track of all the details during the installation process. Mike worked hard with Mark to help resolve any issues that came up during construction, and together the team delivered our house on-time and on-budget. Mark stands behind his word and is genuinely concerned that a homeowner is happy with their house. He has been a pleasure to work with! Now that we’ve moved in and have been in the house for a little while we couldn’t be happier!
