We worked with Chip Krause for our complicated gut renovation in a 1920's co-op building in Brooklyn. We had an initial vision of opening up the walls to update the dark apartment, but Chip's perspective and proposed layouts of our opened floorplans really made this into what it is now. We ended up doing a full gut- removing all interior walls, re-doing electrical and plumbing given the age of the apartment, but he was able to provide such a fresh design perspective on what we could do with the layout. His perspective on kitchen layout in particular, and overall utilization of the space (a commodity in Brooklyn!) was critical to the success of this project. Would highly recommend for someone who is creative, has an incredible eye but also has patience and the right perspective to share with homeowners going through a complex renovation.

We worked with Chip for our first home renovation project that involved a kitchen remodel, new bathroom, new office, and opening up the kitchen and living room. Chip helped us to navigate the structural challenges as we knocked down walls in a 100-year-old house in Cambridge. He helped us to work through renovation challenges with creative ideas and advice from his many years of experience. He was very responsive and worked well with our contractor. I've had the pleasure to live in two homes that Chip has renovated and always been impressed by his ability to create beautifully clean and tasteful living spaces. Chip Krause of CMK Architects designed our porch remodel and oversaw the numerous construction details, working closely throughout the project with our contractor, who Chip referred us to and with whom we are equally happy. Chip took a rundown seasonal porch with sliding glass doors all around and a glass roof and designed a stunning year-round space with cedar shingles and copper-domed roof, skylights, double rows of windows and numerous fine finish details throughout. His design aesthetic and creativity is evident in everything that he does and we are extraordinarily happy with the results of Chip's work.

As a builder of water front homes in the lakes region of New Hampshire I have had the privilege of working with many fine architectural firms over the years. Chip Krause and CMK Architects is one of the better ones in my humble opinion.
