We bought a fixer upper and needed some ideas on how to bring it back to life. We hired Darrell Kauric and found that to be a very positive experience. Darrell came to the house went over it then asked what we wanted to do. After several questions back and forth he presented us with a blue print for the makeover of the outside. We are very pleased with how it turned out and working with Darrell was a pleasant experience, he was not pushy or aggressive and no surprises in the final bill. He stopped out a couple times while the construction was going on to make sure it was moving in the right direction. He was very helpful and a pleasure to work with.

When we wanted to consider a major renovation on a 1930’s house, we contracted our interior designer and asked if she knew of anyone who was skilled enough to take on the challenge of designing new additions while maintaining the historic character of a home. She recommended Darrell, who did a fantastic job, with thorough and detailed designs and explanations in layman’s terms we could understand. He identified areas of opportunity, as well as challenges, in a professional, yet personable and pleasant manner. When instead, we decided to buy another house and move, Darrell was again who we brought in to help us with changes. He has real vision and practical experience. He redesigned the new kitchen and took on the entire remodel. Darrell recommended quality contractors and connected us with the suppliers. He advised through the whole process and worked in sync with the contractors and suppliers. Our kitchen is a stunning example of “Before and After” and we’ll definitely count on Darrell when remodeling another space in this house. He’s cheerful, insightful and talented!

This was our first big remodel, and though we had specific ideas of what we wanted, it was obvious that we could not handle it ourselves. The project consisted of a new front porch with a mudroom underneath and access into the basement. We then finished the basement which included living space, a kitchenette, full bath, and a gas fireplace. We interviewed a few architects, but realized early on that Darrell was the right choice for us. He was quick to respond to our inquiry and set up a meeting. The whole process was laid out to us in a clear and concise manner, no surprises. Darrell listened to our ideas and made very good drawings for our project. Every one of our concerns was addressed and often improved upon. He helped with our zoning variance and pointed us in the right direction for a great contractor. He visited the site several times during construction to make sure that all was going well and offered suggestions which led to further improvements. The end result is everything we wanted and more. Darrell was a pleasure to work with; creative, honest, and diligent. We highly recommend Darrell and would use him again in a heartbeat. Job well done!

After finding Darrell on Houzz and talking with him about our project, I decided to engage him for work. We were hesitating as we had never worked with an architect before and were not sure of the process. Darrell educated us on the process. He allowed us to work first on an hourly basis until we were comfortable and then we worked toward a final project price. He provided three options for our second story remodel/addition and walked us through the implications and options of each. We worked in person meetings and also email to make ongoing changes. Each contractor we approached for bid was impressed by our set of drawings and brought clarity to the bidding process. Darrell also made recommendations to us on when and where the important times he should or could be involved during the building phase, Definitely recommend him.

Darrell was a blessing to our family and our home. He was recommended by multiple contractors to help us design and implement our new front porch. We were amazed from our first meeting all the way through to the finished project. Not only is he knowledgeable but he was willing to spend significant time with us to go over all of the possible options and by using his state of the art programs he was able to make that vision a reality. We moved from AZ to PA in 2015 (Don't ask why. Every month that goes by reminds us it was a mistake). We purchased a new home in a new development. The homes did not come with any porches. Coming from AZ, for the price we paid for the home we are accustomed to fully equipped porches on front and back. We were not accustomed to the builder leaving the home prepped for a deck. We wanted a fully covered and equipped rear porch like homes in AZ have. We discovered what we wanted would be more complicated than expected. We used Darrell to design and manage what we wanted. Everything turned out great. He followed up with the Township and the contractor to ensure the project was started correctly, permits were properly files, project layout was fully explained and construction was completed as expected. When Darrell visited the job site he found the contractor trying to cut corners and made sure they built the porch as designed. It turned out just as we wanted. See the pictures.

Darrell and I ushered together at church, and at the time he was just getting started on his own doing small jobs at night and on weekends. We hired him to give us some ideas on how to turn our basement into a game room with an entertainment center, bar, space for my model trains, and other amenities. Darrell was very professional in his approach, asked many questions to determine our true wishes for the room, and offered many excellent recommendations. I am an engineer who is very detailed oriented, and Darrell exceeded my expectations for his attention to detail. My wife is a stain glass artisan and Darrell even brought in samples of background lighting with different wavelengths to best show off the true colors of her creations. Our borough's code enforcement officer required us to install another egress point from the basement to the outside, and Darrell negotiated with him for a more realistic and cost effective solution. He also provided solid recommendations for several subcontractors who delivered excellent work for the agreed on budget. All in all we were very pleased with the results of this project, and would not hesitate to recommend Darrell for similar projects.

Our project involved adding an attached garage, full bath, finishing the old garage into living space and remodeling the kitchen. We had many thoughts of our own about the project but Darrell's ideas were essential to completing such a large work and making all the pieces fit together seamlessly. He did not push his inputs but listened carefully to our wishes and presented options to make it happen. We are very pleased with the result and highly recommend Darrell.

Darrell was very professional and responsive to our needs. He designed our new kitchen to a level we didn't think possible. It was nicely opened up from the 1970s "compartmentalized" style of the past. Even now, two years later, every time we turn the lights on in our kitchen, we pause in admiration of our space. He has great vision for what is possible. Highly recommended! In the photos below, I've taken a series of shots from exactly the same spot to show before and after. "After" is on top of each pair, but I hope that wasn't a necessary clarification.
