Doug and Peggy Austin have used Daryl Melquist since 1979. We have used him for 6 different landscaping projects. He is amazing. We love his work. He is very professional, his work quality is top notch. I can't say enough about the work he has done for us. We have enjoyed the results of his work. We had water issues in our back yard and he came up with a plan that has resolved the water issues. I highly recommend Daryl.

My wife and I recommend Daryl without reservation. We've used Daryl for landscaping work since 2005 and he's wonderful. I know we are smaller clients for him, but he gives us the same attention and courtesy that he would a much larger client. Daryl designed the front-, side- and back yards of our former home in Minneapolis. The designs were elegant, the installation smooth and timely, and came in under budget! Best of all was the selection of plants and grasses, which provided beauty, a sense of depth and spring-to-autumn color. Most recently Daryl landscaped the front of our new home in 2012 and, since he's our guy, we will contract him to do our back yard when we have saved enough to pay cash.

We wanted a more welcoming and useful backyard space, as well as a pervious patio. Daryl did a fabulous job creating a beautiful design that met our objectives and ensuring we were comfortable with all of the details during the planning stage. We were surprised that after putting $5,000 down on the project we were not permitted to have a copy of the design until after construction had started.

I wanted increased privacy in my front yard that was natural to my surroundings and added curb appeal. I also wanted to use evergreens for winter interest and boulders for barrier protection. There were constraints: a sloping yard, existing mature trees and limited sun light, to name a few. I looked for a designer and found landscape contractors who call themselves designers. Then I found Daryl. Daryl is, first and foremost, a designer. He designed solutions to my landscape problems and did it with flair. I was impressed by his attention to detail. I highly recommend.

Daryl is the most knowledgeable landscaper that we have ever worked with! His recommendations for plants that would work in our setting were accurate and appealing, and to date, all are thriving. He also was quickly and clearly aware of our water drainage issues and addressed those problems promptly. He developed an attractive design for our project, which we did in two parts, and provided a visual plan so that we knew exactly what he was proposing. Everything that we had installed according to Daryl's proposals looks beautiful and is flourishing. We have one more project coming and we will ask for his advice and expertise again!

Daryl worked a few times on my smaller home in the past. He was respectful of the small scale and small budget and incorporated my desires with his design eye and experience in creating a garden that is an enjoyment to maintain but also easy to maintain with small children. Years later, we were blessed to have a large blank slate for a yard, older kids and a larger budget. We put in a large pool, custom gazebo with fireplace, enormous high end outdoor kitchen pavillion with large screen TV. The font yard was changed from typical builder special to match what we did in the back yard. GORGEOUS! Daryl was responsive, kind, patient and intelligent in his design. All seasons were considered not only for plantings, but also for shade over the pool and maintenance work. Colors work wonderfully with our yard, the nature behind us and our neighbors. It is a useful yard that is made to entertain with a dog and young children and adults, while still being extremely stunning to look at. We could not possibly be happier and would and have recommended Daryl for all landscape needs. Pictures at end of project before any growth do not do it justice!!!

We have used Daryl's expertise many times since we built new in 1989 to enhance our landscape. We have found him to be thoughtful, very well versed in landscape architecture and always mindful of our needs but willing to make sensible recommendations. He has been a pleasure to work with!

We have benefitted from Daryl's professional insights and designs two times now. Daryl is extremely knowledgable about the suitability of certain plants, shrubs and trees to a particular environment. We have been impressed with his patience to listen to our desires, and concerns and to make recommendations without pushing or overselling. This is a nice combination which we appreciated very much. In terms of executing the delivery of the project, Bachman's did an outstanding job. The workers were efficient and responsible. From design to delivery, Daryl and Bachmans exceeded our expectations!
