About Us

Designs of the Times has focused our business in the field of the Art and Design for over 25 years. As owner, designer and artist, I Carol Smits have had opportunity over that time to create beautiful interiors with the help of my husband and a great design team. The business has grown to a team of associate designers, installers, painters, and numerous subcontractors. All these together offering a wealth of creativity and experience. I believe “Every great design starts with a pencil and paper” (Harrison Weber). With this basic but important design philosophy, I and the team have accomplished truly creative and beautiful residential and commercial interiors. I absolutely love my window treatments. Carol does an amazing job with designing. I also had a half dozen rooms painted. Dennis & Carol and their team did an amazing job. I am very satisfied with the hard work and customer service. I would highly recommend.

I hired Carol to come out and help me with my drapes. I had already purchased furniture, so Carol came in and knew exactly which colors would go well with everything. She is so detail oriented. Everything has to be prefect with her, which is something I really like about her. She always gets it right and I absolutely love my drapes. We also picked out an area rug for underneath my dining room table and it blended very well into my living room. It worked out great! I’m very happy with Carol and am actually having her come out to put up some art that we selected together. She is great to work with.

Carol has the ability to design what the customer wants and will also tell you what she feels does or doesn’t work. With her experience, I have no doubts her suggestions are the best choices. She’s easy to work with and knows what she’s doing. She carries off the designs so that I’m happy.

I’ve worked with Designs of the Times on several projects. Carol is very pleasant and professional, she listens to your needs and has fresh new ideas and suggestions for your project. Her work is incredible. I had been looking for someone to do the draperies in my home for 10 years and it wasn’t until Carol that I found the right person. They turned out absolutely wonderful! She's also an amazing artist and has an excellent eye for color. I can’t say one bad thing about her, she’s great to work with.

Carol is talented beyond words. She comes up with things that our out of this world. Her painting is beautiful, her ideas are amazing and they are always different. No two things are like. She did both my home and office and did everything from the window treatments to the bedding. She is really great to work with.

I’ve been working Carol for a long time. I think we work well together because of the relationship that we have. We communicate really well. The other thing about Carol and her design is that she’s an artist so she’s able to draw out whatever you are thinking. I can come to her with different ideas and pictures and she will find a way to make it work in the grand scheme of the design. She always comes back with three different options/directions, which is nice for me because I don’t like to have too many options. She just gets it! I’ve always had a great experience working with her.

I think that Carol can really read you and what your likes are. She talks to you, comes to your house, and shops with you. She is soft-spoken, kindhearted, and works really hard. She also has a great eye for color, she's very knowledgeable! I highly recommend her.

Designs Of The Times has done an excellent job in our new home. Their help in everything from choosing our blinds, window treatments & our dining area rug made our decision very easy because of their professional experience. When we moved we brought with us the window treatments from our previous home to our new house. Carol did a wonderful job altering the bedroom & bathroom window treatments to fit our new windows. Definitely would recommend them.
