DURST & GANS BUILDING CORP

We have hired Durst and Gans for four separate projects on our 39-year old home over the years. Yes, we talked with other contractors, but we kept coming back to Dave and Jim because they always listened better and had the better idea. We wanted something that we would be happy with for many, many years, and that is what they have delivered every time. The four projects by D&G were: 1) Build a 440 sq ft family-room addition with a full basement roughed-in underneath for a future bedroom/bathroom - 1981; 2) Finish said basement bedroom/bathroom - 1994; 3) Remodel our kitchen (fabulous!) - 2012; 4) Renovate exterior - 2013. Yes, we could have moved instead of add on and remodel, but we love the area, and this house has good strong bones that are hard to find in newer homes. We first met Dave and Jim at the Eden Prairie Home show in 2012. We were there looking for someone to help with a remodeling project my husband and I had been talking about for years. Our house was built in 1961 by my husband's grandparents. Of course, with the age of the house there was no Master Suite. We were looking for someone to help us create a space out of an existing bedroom and den; we also wanted the main bath remodeled. From the beginning, Dave listened to what we wanted, looked at our space; and working within the limitations of the house, came back to us with five different options/plans. We were so pleased with the plans, we moved forward with one of them. Jim and his team of subcontractors were hard working, paid attention to detail and provided quality craftsmanship that shows in the final product. Not to mention, everyone who came into our home was very respectful of our house and my family. My husband and I have been living with the finished spaces for about a year now and are so pleased with the space Durst & Gans created for us!

We hired Durst & Gans (D&G) to be our General Contractor (GC) on the construction of our Pool House. Our Pool House is a 14' x 40' structure that is comprised of three primary spaces: 1) a full bathroom facility, 2) an open living space used for entertainment and relaxation, and 3) a storage area for pool accessories and chemicals. As our GC, Dave Durst and Jim Gans helped coordinate and guide several independent sub-contractors, some engaged directly by us at our request, to deliver the construction of our Pool House according to our specifications. D&G provided fantastic service, they were available and attuned to our needs and they provided expertise as needed during the construction process. D&G thoroughly managed all aspects of the construction process including: landscaping, fence installation, regulatory (permits, etc.), building construction, and project timing. They kept us fully informed on project costs and were flexible on the way we financed the project. D&G accommodated us on specific components of the project where we intended to perform our own sweat equity. Certain aspects of the construction effort were delivered by D&G employees. I was very impressed by D&G's employees, not only in their professionalism, but by the quality of their work. It was clear they took pride in the attention to detail. D&G's sub-contractors carried the same level of professionalism and work ethic. Dave, Jim and D&G's employees are very honorable and honest professionals. They possess years of experience, deliver high-quality workmanship, are very reasonable on pricing and make you feel comfortable that you've engaged the best. You will be in capable hands by engaging Durst & Gans.

We contracted with Durst & Gans to build a unique, custom home including a stand alone apartment for my father-in-law. Many of our favorite features in this house were initiated by Durst and Gans, including both structural details and functional elements. As there are an overwhelming array of decisions to make in building a custom house, we really appreciated Dave and Jim as a resource in sorting it all out. They maintain high standards of craftsmanship, they have the experience to build a solid and functional structure, and they are a wealth of ideas for features to make a great end product. We have been in our house for 10 years with no emerging issues, and we hope to use their services again when our time comes to downsize. Durst and Gans were honest and easy to work with, and they built an awesome house!

Durst & Gans helped us solve the problems we were having with frost heave preventing us from opening warehouse service doors in the middle of winter. They provided a simple, cost-effective solution that none of us had even considered.

Durst & Gans replaced the railings in our home, refaced our fireplace along with a barn wood wall. I was extremely happy with their workmanship and professionalism. They were very thorough - all decisions were made BEFORE the start of the project - they made sure everyone was on the same page, all questions answered, all costs approved. This was a relatively small project for them, but I never felt that it was less important than their large projects. They were on time, neat and completed the project as promised. I highly recommend Durst & Gans.

Durst and Gans remodeled my kitchen, which was the original kitchen. They completely gutted the space and replaced the floor, cabinets, countertops, backsplash and changed the layout. The finished product is gorgeous and has much more storage space and functionality. The construction timeline was accurate and on time, and the project was completed within budget. They were easy to work with and did a great job resolving a cabinet finish issue. They also worked very hard to make sure the new space matched the style of the rest of my house, and kept the disruption of a remodel to a minimum. I would definitely consider hiring them again.

Durst & Gans worked with us to design and then remodel our bathroom. This included removing and replacing a wall, new duct work, replacing fixtures, tile, flooring and tub resurfacing. They were true professionals in every sense, and made it clear from the start that our satisfaction was the most important factor. Each aspect of the project was managed by the owners who were either directly involved with completing the work themselves, or bringing in trustworthy professionals. There were a few adjustments to be made as would be expected, and they were extremely accomodating. They were always available for questions and always responded immediately. Having the ability to work with a designer through them was extremely helpful in making product selections. Their professionalism and personal touch brought a true sense of partnership on this project. Lastly, there is notable top quality in workmanship. I would contact Durst and Gans for my next project and highly recommend them.
