Sorry to say, Emily attempted to design a kitchen and living room remodel and really missed the mark. Charged us for two renditions of a floor and cabinet plan that missed the objectives, they did not create a functional open space. The whole purpose of the plans Emily designed were to sell (upsell) her husband’s general contracting services. A bad experience and waste of time, effort, and project budget for us. Ultimately our kitchen cabinet company provided *free* floor and cabinet plans that solved space planning challenges that Emily simply could not after two attempts. If you work with B Street Design for anything other than a design and materials plan, we recommend that you ask to see their portfolio for that kind of work, and check references to see if they have any for a kitchen design plan.

Hello! I appreciate you bringing this to my attention. I know it has been a number of years since we worked together, but I was a bit surprised to get this message as I didn’t know that you felt this way. I am sorry that I could not provide a solution that you liked, and I wish I would have known how unhappy you were so that I could have problem solved the issues. The majority of my 16 years of experience is in kitchen and bath design/remodeling. I never present anything to a client that I don’t believe to be a good design/solution to their goals, however, it is common in the design process for at least two attempts to be made on finalizing designs and materials. A lot of this has to do with honest and direct communication- sometimes that means that we will disagree on what is the best design, and honestly, that’s okay. My job is to leave you happy, but also give you feedback on what I think will look the best so that together we can create the best possible experience and end result. As far as your comment on trying to “upsell” my husband, please know that was never my intent to do so. We are a working team, and he is pretty talented so of course I brought him in to provide you with construction feedback and pricing, which he was doing free of charge. We are a design-build studio, so if people need a contractor, I recommend him as communication between the designer and builder is of the utmost importance, and working with someone you are unfamiliar with can sometimes lead to miscommunications and mistakes. This is why I stress working with a design-build team. I hope this is understandable. If in the future you ever decide to work with us again, I hope I can make this experience up to you in some way. Thank you!

Emily has done a fantastic job designing and decorating our newly built home. We worked with Emily during the entire build project from the initial floor planing to the final finishing and decoration. Throughout the entire process, Emily has exceeded our expectations. She is receptive to our ideas and respectively and politely offers alternatives options that in all cases were an improvement. She also well attends to details, is patient and professional, and has designed and decorated our home according to our desires with results far better than we had imagined and all with respect to our budget. She has a keen and talented eye for design and fun to work with and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her.

Emily did an awesome job with an outstanding layout and budget that we had. She was there the entire time, answering questions, finding the best solutions. She worked well with the contractor that we had. She basically created the bible for the job. All the contractor had to do, was look what room he was working in and he could order all the materials, fixtures, paint, etc. with all the pricing and sku numbers as well as where it was located and how many items were needed. I would use Emily/B St. Design for any further project that we may have coming up.

I am a supplier/source for Emily. I have collaborated with her on several jobs over the past several years. I am always impressed with the level of commitment she has shown towards her clients regardless of the size of the job. She seeks to provide the best possible solutions while always being mindful of the budget. Several of her clients are also customers at my home furnishings store and to a person they have all been highly complimentary of Emily's professionalism, creativity and expertise. She listens to her clients when they express their likes and dislikes and takes her lead from them. Whenever I have a customer looking for a designer, I refer Emily without hesitation.

Emily was a new graduate of Design School and had just passed her professional accreditation exam when she worked for us. She was very good at hearing our different points of view and perspective, and EXCELLENT at working out problems that arose (and those do arise in ANY remodel!) She was accurate in establishing work timelines, and reviewing the work as it was completed. We had one glitch when I changed out a sink in the kitchen, and we did not anticipate in advance that it would modify the space for a bar chair to match the ones we had ordered, SO, we worked with that and ordered a custom chair after all was said and done. She worked exceptionally well with our preferred electrician and light choices. With experience, I know that she will come to understand the needs for older people to have more light, even though it changes the "ambience" of a setting.....and our electrician helped her work with that in our kitchen. Emily was great in kitchen and bathroom remodels, updating both the look and functionality, as well as giving me latitude in appliance choices that were not her first choice, but met my specific preferences. She was positive, upbeat and a joy to work with. She worked creatively within our budget and made some good changes incorporating old pieces of furniture that we did not want to part with in our Living Room. Our bedroom and office are brand new and beautifully designed - a fresh new look that works well for us. We do recommend her to friends!

We first met Emily when we were starting to build a new home. She helped us with every phase of the building process and was fantastic. She knew our taste and picked out things perfectly. She is a perfectionist and made sure everything was done correctly and on time. She helped pick out all building materials such as flooring, carpet, tile, paint, etc. as well as furniture, lighting, and accessories. Like I said, she helped with everything! We couldn't be more pleased with the results. We highly recommend her!
