Our master bath renovation was masterfully done. Kevin (Sensitive Information Hidden) and his team are great listeners, excellent communicators, and skillful craftsmen. As a result, from the planning stage through the renovation everything went smoothy. Work began when all of relevant supplies were in their warehouse and all of the craftsmen were dedicated to our project, so there were no delays in the work. Our job was assigned a supervisor, an excellent carpenter, who was on-site for the entire project. He was fastidious in a good way, not satisfied unless his work and the work of outside contractors (e.g. for the mirror, shower doors, tile) was perfect. Our 'brand new' bathroom is beautiful and without fault. We could not be more pleased, both with the final product and the service and attention we received all along the way.

I would highly recommend Gilday! We used Gilday for a major kitchen and family room renovation. They completed the work on-time and were very professional with respect to scope of work and costs. Leslie Roosevelt, who helped us with the project design, was highly professional and delightful to work with. Mike Kisner, who oversaw the project construction, was extremely respectful of our home and space throughout the construction process. The new kitchen has made cooking and entertaining more fun, and it makes it easier to come together as a family.

We have used Gilday Renovations for three major projects on our Chevy Chase, DC home, dating back to the 1980s. Because we were happy with the earlier projects, we recently used Gilday to renovate our kitchen and laundry room. Based on this most recent experience, I would not recommend Gilday. What should have been a 5 - 6 month project following demolition of the old kitchen and laundry room turned into a 14-month project, with lengthy delays where nothing got done. So many things went wrong with the project that they are too numerous to cite, but they include (i) multiple mistakes and defects in construction of the cabinets by the manufacturer (Greenfield) that Gilday recommended as the top of the lines it offered, which took months to resolve and some of which required multiple replacement pieces, (ii) lighting issues -- both under-cabinet lighting that created large areas of dark shadow and recessed ceiling lighting where the cans repeatedly went bad -- that Gilday did not know how to fix (we ultimately figured out how to address the issues based on extensive research on our part), (iii) caulking and painting that had to be redone multiple times (and we ultimately gave up trying to fix the different kinds of gloss on the sides of the refrigerator cabinet since it was done wrong twice), and (iv) frequent long delays in Gilday’s response to emails and scheduling of work. The best work on the project was done by the two carpenters, both the one who initially worked on the project before leaving the company and the one who replaced him, but they usually worked with no helpers, which contributed to the very slow pace of the project. Notwithstanding all the many problems that plagued the project, we are pleased with how the kitchen and the laundry room look (and hope the workmanship will stand the test of time). But getting to this point was very painful, and we will not use Gilday again.

The men and women of Gilday Renovations are high-quality, high integrity professionals. We could not have predicted a better experience and result when we set out to take on a major addition to our home in Potomac. We would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who has a "vision" for an addition or renovation but does not know where or how to begin. They worked with us from concept to completion. The result was superb and NEVER did we feel that our needs, desires, or concerns were not shared by the team at Gilday.

My husband and I had the pleasure of working with the Gilday team on the renovation/addition of our kitchen, butler's pantry, family room and powder room in 2016. Tom Gilday, the owner, provided accurate pre-construction estimates and completed the job on time and on budget. Gilday's staff is professional, organized and very pleasant to work with and has excellent relationships with all the subs. Gilday's team took special care to ensure the finished project met or exceeded our expectations. Their commitment to details and conscientious attitude were outstanding. A special mention of thanks for a job well done goes to Ellen, the kitchen designer, John, the project manager, and Keith, the lead carpenter. Bravo!

Gilday Renovations is the BEST outfit you could work with for building/renovating your home. I have used them for three pretty big projects. I was happy from start to finish. They are attentive to everything, professional, fair, trustworthy, and creative. Everyone I worked with could not have been more helpful and skilled. They defy all the jokes about how you'll feel about contractors at the end of your job ---- you'll feel so lucky to have found and used them ! Also, they have been exceptionally responsive to any questions or issues that have arisen since, taking care of anything in the months and years after our projects were completed.

More expensive than other design build firms but attention to detail and attentiveness to the client is unrivaled. We have used Gilday for two subsequent projects and have been equally as pleased with the finished product.

Gilday Renovations performed a complete renovation -- top to bottom -- on out 1972 Contemporary home in Bethesda. Gilday is the finest caliber firm to work with! The team that created our home -- from the owner, Tom Gilday, to the project manager to the foreman and every single sub-contractor that was under the Gilday wing, were the utmost professionals with the highest standard of work ethic and knowledge. Their commitment to detail, budget, timeline, artistic and architectural integrity -- plus their outstanding listening skills with no ego blocking the creative process -- rendered our home a stunning success. We highly recommend them for renovation you may be considering.

We loved working with Gilday Renovations. Not only were Tom Gilday and Karen Gilday Witts absolute professionals, they were kind, thoughtful and incredibly helpful! They listened carefully to my ideas and helped me adapt them so they would work with our space. We are in LOVE with the covered outdoor area they designed and built for us. Since it was completed we have had many friends over who cant believe how amazing it is. Since it has been completed I have received so many calls asking for Gilday's contact information. I also have to mention the lead carpenter on our job, Wilson, is the absolute best!! I WELCOMED his arrival at 7 am every morning! As with everyone else in the company, he is a true professional and his work is impeccable. His humor was also a highlight. We are current customers of Gilday going through a year long renovation. We are having a large renovation done to our side porch to create office space and also adding on a family room, master suite and bath. We also are creating an open floor plan, knocking out walls to create a larger kitchen and pantry. Two bathrooms are being updated as well. We started this project with Gilday in the summer with many design meetings at our house and their office. Kevin and his team and particularly his lead carpenter on our job, Patrick Curtice are amazing. It is so nice to have professionals with you throughout this process. They are very responsive and respectful of our space. At all times, even when a small crew is brought is to demolish, the lead carpenters are on site. Kevin also is on site on a weekly basis and is always willing to answer any questions. The work so far is top notch and we are no longer worried about what the next year will be like as we go through this and live here at the same time! Leslie, Chris and Kevin along with carpenters Pat, Sean and John are a pleasure to work with and we highly recommend them.

After evaluating a number of home renovation contractors, we chose Gilday Renovations to renovate our kitchen. The team at Gilday was a pleasure to work with - their design and architect teams were responsive to our requests and worked with us to build a plan that met our needs. The lead carpenter was on site regularly and made sure that subcontractors were led and guided so that work was completed in compliance with that plan. The lead designer accompanied us in trips to select granite countertops, appliances, lighting, and other items that needed to be selected. The result was an end product that addressed virtually every need that we outlined when we first met with the Gilday team.

They delivered (nearly) on time, and on budget a kitchen/dining room renovation, creation of a shower room where none had existed, renovation of an existing master suite and creation of a master dressing room/study. Their designers were respectful of our ideas ( this is the latest in a series of house renovations, so we have experience), and their crews easy to have in the house ( important as we chose not to move out for the duration). They were there when they said they would be, and when we had questions or issues, they were promptly addressed. We got what we wanted- a beautiful, open concept kitchen/dining room glamorous enough for large dinner parties, and spectacular upstairs space. Very positive experience, would do it again.

Gilday Renovations renovated our kitchen in 1992, the kid's bathroom and bedrooms in 1996, and our entire house from late 2010 through mid-2012. We both work out of our house now and can't imagine why we worked downtown any longer than we had to. Arrange through Gilday to come by and see for yourself. Kevin Gilday, planners Chris Doyle and Leslie Roosevelt, and head carpenter Pat Donly became part of our family. They're all so pleasant to work with, so knowledgeable, and so skilled. They spent a lot of time with us to make sure we got just what we wanted. Every time we step into our master bathroom, we bask in their colors, textured tile, unique glass sink, and solid construction, and those custom closets make life so much easier. Every window in the house opens now and can be folded back for easy cleaning. At their suggestion, we replaced the entire exterior of the house with Azek, which looks great and will last over 50 years. Of course, major home renovations don't come cheaply. Gilday costs more than some, but, like good clothing, after years of satisfaction, you realize what a bargain it really was.

The people and talent make working with Gilday Renovations a terrific experience. When we started the process, I was not sure exactly how extensive a renovation I would do, and the plans needed to be drawn to be flexible enough to add the next phase. And they were. As we moved to do a two story addition with master suite, bath and closet, a screen porch which involved significant changes to the dining room floor plan and modest changes in the kitchen (which had been previously redone by another contractor in a much less satisfactory experience), the Gilday team came up with the best and most cost effective design solutions. In both the new family room and the master suite above it, the design is subtle but very special -- built ins surround windows with spaces for sofas and lights of light. Fixtures were selected that matched perfectly, while paying attention for the need to keep the costs down given the extent of the renovation. I could not be happier, more than 4 years later, with the workmanship and the continuing follow through.

My wife and I began a major house renovation project with Gilday Renovations Design Build over nine years ago. This project involved two floors of our house and took over a year to complete. During the project, we lived in the house along with our boxer dog, Buster. Having done previous smaller jobs with other contractors producing mediocre to disastrous results, we were understandably wary clients. To our delight and suprise, Gilday was a breeze to work with and we could not be happier with the process, the working relationship, the attention to detail, and - most importantly - the end result. Last year, some eight years after completion of our renovation, we needed to remove our refrigerator/freezer from its enclosure for repairs. It would not budge. The enclosure had been build too small. Not enough tolerance had been built in to account for the expansion of the refrigerator/freezer's middle section as its interior insulation cured and swelled. One call to Tom Gilday solved the problem. The next day a Gilday representative was at our house and acknowledged the problem. A repair schedule was quickly made, a lead carpenter was assigned the task, and, after one full week of work to cut the unit out of its enclosure, enlarge the space, and then finish and paint the interior and trim, we were completely back to enjoying our wonderful kitchen. But wait! There is more. When the repair job was done, we requested the bill for the materials used and the services of the Gilday carpenter for five days. "There will be no bill", we were told. "It was our original mistake and it is our responsibilty to fix it" was the explanation given. How is that for standing by the quality of your work! You now can understand why we would give this firm six stars if we could.

I asked about 40 people in my area who they used for their renovations before we started out kitchen/bedroom/bathroom remodel. Most people had had terrible experiences or just didn't feel 100% comfortable recommending their person. Every person that had used Gilday had amazing things to say about them. I then got bids from a couple of companies. Gilday is probably on the higher end but I really believe might even come in lower at the end of the project (there are so many nightmare stories of extra charges once the project starts). Once you set the price with them they really stick to it. There is no creep on their end at all. The only extra money came from decisions that I was making (it's hard to resist a lot of beautiful materials out there!). They could not have been more professional. The contractors were extremely friendly, neat and efficient. They all were clearly experts in their specialties. The project ran on time. They spent a lot of time working out the details and really correcting any quirks they uncovered during the project (who knew that the left side of my house was slightly slanted). We had two design issues that I really felt they were instrumental in figuring out: I wanted a floating bench in the shower, but it was quite a big area. They worked out how to make it floating and still be able to bolster it with a beam underneath. The trick was being able to build it without seeing the beam and they did an amazing job. The other thing I wanted was a curbless shower. I had heard nightmares about how people say they can do it but then get it wrong and then water comes out and creates a huge problem. They really worked to make it just right and I'm thrilled with it. It's actually my husband's favorite thing that we did. And not a drop of water makes it out. They even found a gorgeous sqaure drain that matched the marble pattern we had chosen. Any issue that came up was solved quickly and with no back and forth. I was really impressed with the service. Everyone always complains about their renovation and was always amazed when we would smile and say that we loved ours and were actually enjoying it! I can't recommend Gilday enough.I would use them again in a heartbeat, which I think is really the ultimate way I can recommend them.

The Gilday group is wonderful and thoroughly professional. They have creative architects and designers; fantastic craftspeople/builders; expert knowledge of architectural periods, traditions, and styles; experience with new building materials and technology. Every client we have had in common has been delighted with Gilday Renovations' work. As a landscape design/build firm that often comes in at the tail end of Gilday's work, we are always impressed with their attention to detail, organized work sites, and really nice staff.

We have used Gilday Renovations in several projects in two of our homes. We always find their work excellent. In this project, Gilday replaced the kitchen countertop with granite. We were extremely pleased with the design staff who assisted us in choosing the granite to complement the existing cabinetry (done by Gilday 20 years ago). We found an excellent piece of granite that created more warmth and an integrated color scheme and we are extremely pleased with the result. We also enclosed a small open porch that opened from the kitchen. As part of this project we built a small deck that opens from this new enclosure. The deck provides a pleasing exit from the enclosure while providing a place for our gas grill. The design staff did an excellent job designing this part of the project. The carpenter who did the work did a beautiful job, was pleasant to work with and was extremely trustworthy since we often were not home during working hours. This portion of the project also turned out extremely well. Finally, we added a tall, shallow kitchen cabinet (five inches deep) that matched the existing cabinets in the kitchen. Friends who visited the completed project thought we redid the entire kitchen even though we only replaced the countertop, added one cabinet and enclosed the porch. The kitchen does look different and now very well integrated. We could not be more pleased with the project. We would highly recommend Gilday Renovations for any remodeling project.

Excellent company with regard to planning, general description of costs and requirements, thorough drawing and plans, and first rate team on site for execution. High quality work, integrity and no corners or shortcuts, and very reliable. Outstanding design team, prompt and reliable. Generally met deadlines within realities of building variables, and considerate of work order changes. When item ordered did not match sample, they were very willing to ensure that a more accurate alternative product was available at no additional cost other than the actual value of the product. They made every effort to keep the location clean and protect areas not under renovation, or fix items accidentally damaged. Overall project manager very responsible and responsive. A pleasure to work with!!!

Gilday Renovations has been a company well known to me for many years. I work in real estate and often have clients who are thinking about renovating their existing home or are purchasing a home that needs renovations. Tom and Joe Gilday are always very helpful coming to the site, offering suggestions for expansions that myself or my clients may not have been able to see. Their experience upgrading older homes so they offer what todays' home buyers are looking for is right on. They know what is needed to make a home updated, without loosing the character that comes along with older homes. They also have real cost numbers to discuss with the buyers so a client can digest the practicality of what a job might cost. The fact that Gilday is a Design/Build firm allows for a very comprehensive picture of the project with regards to design, cost, and timing for clients. Tom and Joe are also extremely personable. There is no ego here-- they are genuine and easy to work with. Clients that have met with Gilday and have hired them, have been very happy throughout the entire project.

When we wanted to build a 2-car garage on our very small lot, Kevin and the architects came up with a design that truly added beauty and function to our home. They are incredibly knowledgeable on every aspect of construction. They made every effort to select products and finishes that met our expectations, while being conscientious about working within our budget. We were extremely pleased with the entire process, as well as the beautiful, finished product! In addition, they stand behind their work; they are extremely responsive; and all of the folks from Gilday who worked on our project were very polite and pleasant to work with.

I am very happy with our addition, new kitchen, and new baths. Kevin and his team followed through on our project to the very end - even on warranty issues. We had a weird grout discoloration in a bathroom (cause still unknown). After trying to re-grout it twice, the tiles were damaged so they replaced all the tile work. Design and quality of their work are excellent.

Gilday did a great job for us. We bought a mess of an old house and now it is great. Tom Gilday actually worked with us pre-purchase. He identified problems with other houses we looked at - helping steer us in the right direction (even if it wouldn't lead to a big job for his firm). Their architects helped us redesign the old house once we bought, then spent six months getting everything done (in what might have taken others a year). They were not our cheapest option, but they worked with us to help us get exactly what we wanted/needed (including pointing us in the right direction when we weren't sure) at a good price. They did very high quality work, finished when they said they would (indeed were nearly on schedule to the day at every point along the way) and for the price they promised. And they've stood by their work since - any little issue we've had even years after the work was completed - they come the next day to make sure everything is straightened out. Can’t say enough good things. Would recommend to anyone.

Highest Quality work completed on time and on budget. The team were fantastic from design to completion. Attention to detail is excellent and all aspects of the work exceeded my expectation. They renovated an apartment for me and they completed the work and we remained in good standing with all the neighbors.
