I am an award-winning architect and general contractor who sought out Hawkeye Windows because they are distributors for Gealan Windows of Germany. We are quite pleased with the windows which we used on two homes. The service from Hawkeye has been frustrating. We ordered windows for both projects at the same time. Windows were delayed by several weeks more than anticipated which impacted our construction schedule. We might chalk that up to Covid delays, but better communications from Hawkeye would have been appreciated. In general, my framer and I got the impression from Larry that he didn't seem to know his product (Gealan) well, and getting information from him was an often exasperating struggle. Hawkeye provided no timely details on door sills and minimal information regarding window details. The lack of that information resulted in cost overruns as we had to make field adjustments. On one project Larry shipped the wrong door hardware not once but three times, causing unnecessary trips to a project over an hour away. We've ordered European windows from other sources in the past, and have never before had the issues we've had with Hawkeye. Perhaps he has too many product lines to keep track of. That being said, Larry did drive nearly four hours to our site to help with the initial setup. And he did ultimately locate the correct door hardware. Prospective customers should enter with eyes wide open.

We had German Unilux windows and doors installed in our new construction home last year, with the project serviced by a local rep here in the Chicago suburbs. Unfortunately, we had a series of issues with our Unilux rep, including the replacement of a broken part on a basement window. After a year of waiting and being told repeatedly that the part was on its way, I was reluctant to contact our Unilux rep again. Instead, I looked around on the Green Building Advisor website and found Larry Martin's Hawkeye Windows and Doors information. Unfortunately, Larry doesn’t sell Unilux windows anymore. Nevertheless, after I explained my predicament, he was nice enough to offer to hunt down the same, or similar, Roto hardware part for me. Within a week or two I had the part in my hand. Think about that for a second. I wasn’t even really his customer. It would’ve been so easy for him to just say no, he couldn't help me. Instead, he invested time hunting down this random, miscellaneous part for me. I got better customer service from Larry for a $50 part than I did from our own Unilux rep after ordering a whole house worth of windows and doors. It’s astounding in a way, and what a world of difference from a client’s perspective. It feels like a miracle when, during the construction process, you run across people like Larry. I would not hesitate to use or recommend Larry and Hawkeye Windows and Doors.

I hired this company to put a shingled roof over a old metal roof on a mobile home. Larry was very professional and polite. He was able to complete the job in a timely manner. It has now been 7 years and I have had no issues at all. It still looks brand new. I would encourage everyone that needs a roof replaced to contact this company for a quote.

Quality products. Very knowledgeable and excellent workmanship. Kept area clean. Hawkeye Windows installed doors and windows for us. Later we installed another 3 deadbolt door into a separate garage that was broken into 2 times before with a standard stock door. The intruders tried again. They couldn't break into the door this time. Instead they drove their vehicle into the wall to knock it off the foundation.... We were very impressed with the door and highly recommend buying the 3 deadbolt door for security for your home and family. Attached pictures.

Very satisfied with the work Hawkeye Windows has done for us. We had windows installed on our house then several years later had glass replacement on existing front porch windows. Both jobs done well. Quality work.
