I can’t say enough about Hilary! She recently helped me do a total make over of a corporate condo that hadn’t been updated in more than 30 years. Hilary made it current and fun, but not too trendy, so that it will stay in style for many years to come. Hilary took the location of the condo into account, incorporating the colors and views of Lake Michigan as well as the skyline. She also incorporated small pieces of the visitors’ home country making them feel at home while in Chicago for business. Given time constraints, Hilary found in-stock furniture without sacrificing quality. She was thoughtful of furniture placement as well as selection. For example, a swivel chair will allow visitors to watch tv, but also turn to enjoy the view of the Lake. In addition to having a great eye for detail, Hilary easily dealt with the many challenges the project presented, including strict HOA rules and the sporadic, but ongoing, visitors’ use of the condo. With Hilary’s careful planning, deliveries and work took place seamlessly between the visits. Hilary is wonderful to work with. She is cheerful, positive and always shows up prepared and ready to get to work. I highly recommend her for any project – big or small.

I am a busy mom of three with a full time job, and Hilary made my life easy while remodeling my family room! She is down to earth, friendly, professional and knows what she is talking about. She has great contacts and put me in touch with quality professionals/contractors who did a great job as well. She helped me stay within my budget while still giving me a great design that I love. HiHilary is simply one of the best I have ever worked with in Interior Design. She came in and learned about us, our family, our lifestyle and anything unique to our taste and style and incorporated all of these in her vision in transforming our space. When we first met with her, I had a bunch of pieces I was going to junk but she stopped me from doing it as she was able to figure out a way to repurpose and incorporate them in our space. I loved that she listens and is able to translate all of our discussions to a vision and then make it happen. So impressed with her ability to curate and sourced pieces that are truly unique, beautiful and cost-reasonable. She found us a unique side table at 1/10th of what it is selling at One Kings Lane. Most of all, she is so easy to work with, level-headed and made our project easy (because that's what I prefer), efficient and fun. She is crème dela crème. I love my new home. Hilary listened to what I liked and did it better. We had a pretty tight budget and Hilary stuck to it. My husband, who was not sold on a decorator, admitted that she did a great job and made the transition easier for these senior citizens. Still relying on Hilary and will recommend her to anyone who is moving or updating.

Hilary is simply the best! She is creative, resourceful and professional. When I hired her to help us choose paint colors for a home refresh, I quickly realized that I needed her sage advice and ideas for so much more. Hilary created huge custom paint swatches for our walls to help us navigate through the world of white paint. She culled through multiple stores to find us unique tiles that reflected our style. She shopped with me for the perfect hardware. She weighed in on our floor stain. With Hilary’s years of experience, she deftly led us through the project. She introduced us to capable and economical tradesmen - and managed the relationships. No question was too small. Unflappable, upbeat, and clever, Hilary was a pleasure to work with. Our home is transformed. I cannot wait for our next project.

Hilary is amazing! She is wonderful to work with, she is detailed and has beautiful taste, as well as amazing sense of space. There isn't a room, house or space she couldn't handle. We had the pleasure of working with designer, Hilary Ashlund for our kitchen renovation. Her extensive knowledge of construction, cabinet design, space planning and material choices was invaluable. She worked with us patiently from the first phase of design, through the bidding process and entire construction project. Hilary was able to transform a dark crowded kitchen into a bright open space while keeping true to the style and aesthetics of our home. I could not be happier with her selections of plumbing fixtures, flooring, countertops, tile and lighting. Hilary's never ending eye to detail and the functionality of her design resulted in a beautiful updated kitchen. It was a pleasure to work with her.

Hilary is a gem! My family recently moved into a house in Highland Park from the city. We were completely overwhelmed by the house for several reasons, but in particular: I don't have an eye for design, we don't have a lot of time, and our budget is limited. Hilary came in (masked and very respectful of our space in this crazy COVID era) and walked through the entire house with us. She spent two hours with us, learning about our vision for our home, learning about us as a family. She helped me see that there are short-term and long-term projects for the house. In the short-term, I need to make the space functional for my busy family (two little boys running around). P.S. Hilary is awesome with kids. She had some excellent ideas for repurposing furniture that we already have, plus some great, inexpensive solutions to make our lives a little easier in the short-term (e.g., buy a kitchen island, get a big rug for the kids to play on). She also gave us a vision for the future, by helping us think of ways to tie the whole home together. She even pointed out the fact that we need to remodel our shower ASAP. Not what I wanted to hear, but I am so glad she told us!! I wish I had enough money to hire Hilary on for more projects. She is really fabulous at what she does. She is completely respectful of your budget, which is key for me, and cares a lot about your vision for your home. I would definitely recommend Hilary!

Master Bath Renovation -- I would not hesitate to use Hilary again for any future project. In fact, I'd get her involved sooner! Hilary helped me with a master bathroom renovation after I had done some legwork alone. Hilary was extremely helpful in finalizing the selection of materials, 3-D space planning and resolving various construction issues. Hilary's design advice was outstanding and her knowledge of the construction process invaluable. Hilary is very responsive and a pleasure to work with.
