Kris and her team are wonderful — friendly, smart, helpful, and professional, with the highest level of integrity. We used Hills & Grant to decorate and furnish our San Francisco home and we could not be happier. Each room is special -- they made things sing, and there’s no way I could have done it without her. They are so talented! We loved working with Hills & Grant.

I have hired Kris Foss of Hills & Grant for comprehensive interior design of two high-end contemporary mountain homes. Kris is phenomenal. Her design sensibilities are spot on. At the outset of each project she presents her vision, complete with sample materials. She is a terrific listener and open to feedback and collaboration. But in truth I have hardly questioned her on anything. She is a master when it comes to procurement and installation and her execution is top notch. And, with her many industry relationships, she sources high end products, many custom made, at favorable pricing. I could not recommend her more highly. She's a pleasure to work with.

Kris was a delight to work with. Our project involved painting and furnishing our living spaces. She streamlined the process as we were remote for much of the first stage. I always felt like she took the time to understand our needs while providing great advice on style and quality. Kris is a true professional. Kris has a great easy going personality and is extremely trustworthy. I'm thrilled with the outcome of our project. Totally exceeded our expectations!

Kris Foss was recommended to us on the basis of the work that she has been doing on large-scale projects. Ours was a small-scale project: re-imagining how our living room can best be set-up as a multi-purpose room, fit for us to relax in, to entertain guests in, and not least, to enjoy watching our grandchildren play in, all simultaneously if necessary. She took on our project as though it was her most important. She was a fountainhead of ideas and then more ideas. She guided us through the maze of choices of fabric, furniture design, and accessories. She organized purchase, delivery, and installation, all on the terms she had promised. The room now is as stunning as it is comfortable thanks to her capacity to re-imagine a space, taste, and attention to detail.

Kris is helping me design the main bathroom in my home. She's incredibly talented, with a marvelous eye for color, texture and style. I've also used her to make flooring and color choices in my house which are often commented on. She's able to juggle where the money needs to go to make the biggest impact and use more economic choices for the parts that are more functional to stay conscious of my budget which I appreciate. This project has been on my to-do list for years and wouldn't have gotten started without her.

Working with Kris Foss was a fantastic experience. I thought it could be intimidating to work with 'a designer' but she is down to earth, and very easy to talk with. She really listened to our needs, and met them --she's very good at what she does! Our space turned out even better than we could have imagined, and I was so happy I just let her run with it. Not a day goes by that we don't say how much we love what she did - the room layout, the furniture design, the details - all of it perfect.

Kris is amazing! We weren't sure how to decorate our 100 remodeled cabin so we asked Kris for her help. She personally visited our cabin at Tahoe, measured and came up with some fantastic options! She provided a few choices on the layout of furniture which was so nice because we hadn't thought of other options other than the one we had been using for 100 years. We picked one of her new ideas and love it! It works so much better than our old layout. then color. We brainstormed a few ideas with her, then Kris, said the magical word which encapsulated the feeling of the house and what we wanted. From there, she brought us beautiful fabric samples and options. They all were so beautiful it was hard to choose one. She found the perfect sofas and had them customized to fit the room. It all turned out incredible. We love it all and are so thankful we had Kris's expertise to guide us.

Kris and I have worked together in a project in Martis Camp in the Tahoe area. Kris has a spontaneous and open way she works that is fun. When I collaborate with a designer the first most important thing is that they are open and willing to experiment, with a tasteful and beautiful project as the end result. With Kris either it works or it doesn't there is no half way compromise. I would recommend Kris highly she will take your feedback and guide you to a great design. David Ward Sticks and Stones

We engaged Hills & Grant with the goal of furnishing a new modern home with very specific goals...environmentally friendly materials that were pet and child durable within a budget. They were excellent listeners and clever in their resourcing and did an excellent job of incorporating our feedback as the project moved forward. We especially appreciated the "found" items that they incorporated in our home ranging from treasures discovered at an area flea market to custom furniture that met our criteria of durability, comfort and beautiful design. They were responsive to our timeframe and provided advice on all level of furnishings. We feel very fortunate to have found such talented professionals that were willing to take on our goals of sustainable and environmentally sensitive design.

I was impressed by Kris' ability to source materials and items that I could afford, and still achieve the look I wanted. Each of the contractors she brought in were professional, responsible, and performed quality work. Kris is well versed in the technical aspects of design as well. My job had challenging lines and required a bit of engineering. She was spot on!

We have worked with Hills & Grant for a little over a year decorating the interior and exterior of our primary residence. Our project is nearing completion and we have been extremely satisfied with our experience. Kris is a highly qualified interior designer. First, she has very strong design skills. She quickly understood our wishes, likes, and needs and developed a vision that exceeded our expectations for our home. She has a strong eye for space planning, size, scale, color, and texture that have enabled her to create spaces that are practical and livable, while also being very beautiful and interesting. The results of her work have been more than we imagined while staying true to who we are and how we like to live. Second, she has very strong communication and interpersonal skills. She always conveys her thoughts clearly and listens respectfully. She has taken initiative to push the project along yet is always patient when we need some time to make decisions. She has learned what is important to both my husband and to me, and is able to speak to each of us in a way that recognizes our individual wants and needs. Lastly, she has very strong business skills and is always professional. She is always on time for appointments, quick to respond to questions, billing has been clear and on time. She has a strong attention to detail and her follow-through on open issues has been complete. She has been clear on our budget, and her recommendations always fit within that. After this project ends, we will continue to consider Kris our partner when it comes to design decisions for our home. She is too invaluable to let go and we look forward to continuing to work with her as new needs arise.
