Insert Design

When we decided to ditch our 1992 era kitchen in favor of a custom designed new one, we knew we needed an experienced and creative professional. The job included raising the ceiling, blowing out a door and window to replace with a slider, and new windows and staircase to accommodate the new ceiling height. We needed a professional who would marry our ideas and purchases with a fresh yet classic design plan. A designer whose unique vision included the actual design of walnut cabinets/furniture and who would embrace our choice of white calacatta gold marble countertops with distinctive edging. After interviewing several local OC designers, some friends urged us to consider Majid Malek. After reviewing his portfolio and talking to some of his clients, it was obvious. We selected Majid to design our new kitchen, oversee the fabrication of its components and manage the contractor and the various trades to insure that construction operations were performed on time, within budget and without error. Working with Majid was a breeze. He was thoughtful. He listened--and when he felt it appropriate--knew how to tactfully explain why some our ideas would not work with our design. By the same token, if there was something we really wanted incorporated into the design, he figured out how to make it work. He may have sprouted a few gray hairs with our project, but he is all about customer service. We ended up with a perfectly placed TV built into our kitchen which we watch all the time. Part of Majid's value came with his partner Jenna, a true color and texture wizard. The Insert Design team brought a vast knowledge of materials, professionals and product vendor recommendations that could be utilized on our job. As a result of our trusting their instinct and vision, we have a limestone hood over our stove that marries our new kitchen with the stone elements in our backyard, spot on color combinations on our walls and trim, plus a walnut staircase which adds a warmth and richness to our home that would never have entered our thought process. Majid is talented and personable with expert design skills, yet easy to work with on the project. We are continually amazed at our new kitchen when we walk downstairs every morning. Our friends often remark that our kitchen is almost too beautiful to use. Somehow we manage! We highly recommend Majid and Jenna and Insert Design for your job!

Majid and team did an outstanding job with a short time frame. Their communication, design, and subcontractors are EXCEPTIONAL. Their ideas improved our original thoughts for our forever home and we will DEFINITELY have them continue to improve every aspect of our home. I have had the pleasure of working with Jenna (& more recently Majid too) on high end projects over the past few years. I have always appreciated the level of detail that goes into their hard surface finish plans and CAD work, illustrating their top notch design skill.
