What an outstanding company! Hard to find someone like this anymore. The owner, Auturo, came out to give us an estimate of installing travertine on our patio and building a pergola. We expanded our patio from 15 feet to 30 feet and from 12 feet wide to 16 feet. He listened to what we wanted to do and how we wanted the patio to look. We could tell right away he was the one we wanted to work with. He listened and made some excellent suggestions as to how we could make the patio even better. The price was excellent, and he is willing to work on the timing that best suits your needs. He and his crew came the first day at exactly the time he said they would be here and immediately started working. His crew is highly skilled and motivated. We couldn't have asked for better! They always went above and beyond on whatever the task at hand. The work was completed in less time than quoted. The jobsite was always cleaned up at the end of each long day. Everyone was very polite, and they worked very well with each other. Each day they arrived on time and started working right away. The patio is beautiful. They did an excellent job. Auturo even came back when we received our swing to hang it for us. I can think of nothing that could have been done better or to make the patio/pergola look better. Super job, very nice people and we highly recommend them to anyone for a project they may have at their house. We hope you give them a try. You'll be as happy as we are!

Arthur and his team did a great job on my project. I had stone edging put around all the plant beds and had my concrete patio extended and covered with natural stone. The guys were so professional and worked hard all day even though it was extremely hot! They worked efficiently and cleaned up as they went along. I highly recommend them for any outdoor project. I will definitely use them again in the future!

We had admired our neighbor's stonework and that is how we received Mr. Arthur's number. He came by to get the description of what we wanted. We received a paper copy of the estimate; then received an electronic estimate. He installed a paved pathway and pebbles on both sides of our house. He and his crew were very professional and thorough in their work. We plan to use J&A for our next project in 2024.

In short, Arthur and the J&A team are everything you hope they will be; honest, dependable, customer-oriented, hard-working, reasonably priced, and an expert at their trade. We were planning to have a pool installed in our backyard, and wanted a great outdoor space (patio, outdoor kitchen, and firepit) to go along with it. We contacted Arthur at the very beginning of the process due to his great online reviews. Arthur responded almost immediately with an incredibly friendly and educational email letting us know we were not ready for his company yet, and even though there was no personal benefit to him, he took the time to lead us to the right people to help us get started. He recommended a great landscape designer, and we were off to the races. Before work started, Arthur came in and walked us through every detail of the project; answering every question, pointing out concerns that we didn't realize we should have yet, and walking us through how he would address those potential issues & concerns. His team started, and you could immediately see that every single team member took their job seriously and had the skills and expertise to do that job well. They were professional, courteous, and prompt. Anytime we saw any concern or issue, the team immediately addressed it without question. And at least 2-3 times per week, Arthur was onsite checking all the work, answering our questions, etc.... During the project, we had a number of issues with our other contractors (pool, electrical, and gas), and in every case, Arthur went above and beyond to help rectify the issue even if it had nothing to do with his team. He dug the trench and removed bushes which were unexpectedly needed for the gas line work. He would speak to the Town of Cary inspectors about other people's work and what was required. His words: "Our job is to make this perfect, and we can't do that if we don't ensure the other contractors are doing their job". The other contractors even went out of their way to tell me how great they were to work with. There were also numerous delays that impacted his work (some supply chain, some completely my fault), and in each case, he was professional, understanding, and immediately worked with us to figure out how to mitigate the delay and help us complete our project on time. There was never one complaint. In the end, Arthur and his team completed the project on time and on budget even with delays, supply chain issues, price changes, etc... that were outside their control. For part of the job, the materials literally doubled in price between his quote and starting work, and he still honored his quote. It was the little things that truly set the team apart. They worked hard every day... no one sitting around... everyone had a job, knew how to do it, and worked hard to accomp

Arthur and his team are phenomenal. From helping us to envision our project, to his communication, to the actual implementation of his work, he was top notch all the way. His crew is super hard- working, polite, punctual, and attentive to detail. Arthur took our ideas and made them better than we could have done on our own. He adhered to the budget and communicated often throughout making this a pleasant experience! We couldn’t be happier with our project- it was better than we could have hoped for! We can’t recommend him highly enough.

Arthur and Ana and the entire team did an excellent job! They are easy to work with, hardworking, and made the whole process low stress and great! They created a large beautiful stone patio with step down, gas fire pit and also planted shrubs and installed mulch and lighting. Their price was very reasonable for the level of work they performed. Arthur and his crew make intentional, well-thought out decisions in project planning and execution, that they work efficiently, by the book (i.e., to code, permit, and what is practical), are mindful of their surroundings (e.g., tidying up work stations each day), are available and easy to communicate with, professional in their demeanor and superior quality of work, and truly demonstrate an understanding that their work is an investment of the owners not only into the property, but into the space they intend to share and make memories using. Arthur was very generous with his time and attention at each stage of the process of replacing the rotting deck and fence with a patio and new privacy fence from initial discussions, to back and forth on my numerous questions and decisions, and as the work was ongoing. Even further, Arthur took time and care to explain in detail the unexpected issues that arose (e.g., improperly installed siding and crawl space ventilation) as well as the options for solutions that he and his crew would put in place (and they still completed the project within the initially allotted one week time frame!!). On top of their excellent work in terms of professionalism and quality, Arthur and his crew are very approachable, receptive, and straight-forward. We felt very confident in knowing they would make the best decisions, complete everything to the highest standard, and create a beautiful space for us. We are incredibly grateful for them and the work they did to transform our home into something we use regularly and appreciate so much. I could not recommend having J&A Stone Work upgrade your outdoor living space more, you will not be disappointed! *The new siding in the images is not matched because we will be having the siding painted later on, this is not an oversight by J&A!*

We would recommend and use J&A Stonework again for all future projects. Our experience with Arthur and his team from the initial design of our outdoor space, to material choice, scheduling, execution, completion and followup was excellent! Working with Arthur and his team was one of the greatest pleasures we've had during our home remodeling. We had a backyard that was completely unusable -- just a giant hill that ran off an easement into the back of our house. He and his team took that and made it into a space that whenever anyone comes over they just gawk at and remark how beautiful it is. We now have a driveway access ramp off of the easement with a huge parking area protected by the beautiful retaining wall he and his team built. Not only that, but they left the entire grounds looking remarkable with fresh mulch, grass seed, and hay. After working with so many contractors during our home renovations, I can honestly say that Arthur and his team were the most respectful of our property and our time. They never left any tools strewn about and even with rain delays finished remarkably fast. Arthur was great about communicating with me about steps of the project and anything I might need to know. What I'm left with now is trying to figure out how I can do more hardscaping/stonework around our property just so we can get his team back for their quality work once again!

I cannot say enough great things about Arthur and his team. From the beginning planning stages till the very end, Arthur was a joy to work with. He more than delivered on everything promised, and the attention to every detail by each member of his team was so impressive. This was a big project for us that included removal of our old concrete pool deck and installing a much larger paver deck and patio, including a kitchen/bar and fireplace. Arthur’s design turned out perfect and far exceeded our expectations, all while staying on budget and timeline. I would highly recommend J&A Stonework to anyone needing any type of masonry work done. J&A Stone Works just finished our patio and we could not be happier with the results. We hired Arturo and his team to install walkway pavers with grass between them, about 200’ feet total. The work was completed flawlessly and everyone was so polite and professional! The entire job was completed well above expectations and the final touches really set it off - they spread new grass seed, hay, washed each tile and dried them. We enjoyed the work so much we hired them again to install a 12x12 sandbox, deck, and boards to paint on for our son. Everything these guys touch is unbelievably well crafted and beautiful and I would hire them over and over to do more work for us.

We recently had Arturo do a planter wall and concrete slab project for us . It turned out very beautiful. Arturo and his crew are very professional, highly experienced and a great pleasure to work with. They were available to address any questions and concerns that we had. Arthur and his guys repaved our front walkway and rebuilt the brick step to the porch as it had sunk over the years and was out of code. Arthur provided several priced options with sketches and was very easy to work with. They graded the walkway so the step height was correct and replicated the rounded brick step that had been there. The exact bricks were no longer available but Arthur found bricks that were very close to the original and at a distance you cannot tell that they're different. They worked very quickly had it done sooner than they estimated, in all taking about two full days to complete.

I wish I could give Arthur and his team at least 10 stars. We were blown away by their abilities, professionalism, attention to detail, and care for our home, the project, and our time and money. Arthur has an incredible reputation among premier contractors for a reason - his work is exemplary and he is easy to work with. Our contractor who remodeled our house (White Oak Custom Builders) said, "Oh, if you can get on Arthur's schedule - take it!" I'm so glad we did. Arthur helped me to revise designs for hardscaping around a new pool install - his team graded the land and installed Firerock and Techo-bloc pavers for the decking, stepping stones, and retaining walls. The quality of the job was incredible - my husband and I would just stare at the work each night in awe over every detail they perfected.... and that is what makes his team stand out - their level of care. His communication was prompt and helpful, the team always organized all of their equipment and diggers in the yard after each day. And they would do things like power wash the street and driveway after dirt and mulch had been delivered and used. I loved watching how they worked like an efficient team. They were on time every day and on budget at the end. When we had a situation happen with the fence around the pool and required another retaining wall - he sent a quote immediately, his team was there the next week, and finished in just days. He made every effort to go the extra mile for us on several occasions. I would hire Arthur over and over if I could find more projects. I will try!

We hired J&A Stone to do a sidewalk in the front of our house. Arthur and his team did a fabulous job! We are so pleased with the way it turned out and it was completed in a timely manner. They even came back to power wash some of the extra cement that was brushed on the stone! We are planning on doing a back patio later and will use them again. I highly recommend Arthur and J&A Stonework for any masonry project. We recently had an outdoor patio done and all throughout the process Arthur did a fantastic job communicating timelines and budget. He made an excellent recommendation for the pavers that we used for the patio. In terms of the actual build, Arthur originally told us that it may take 2-3 days to complete but his crew actually finished in one day! Not only was the attention to detail terrific, but the crew did a nice job cleaning up when the job was finished and you would never know that they had even been onsite. He is the best contractor out there. We called ten contractors, 3 came out. Only Arthur was on time ..always... He gave a reasonable estimate, worked with us, at our time, to make things happen the way we wanted. He suggested as much as we wanted him to...We felt he was not pushy but did great work. We are going to call him for getting to know other kind of contractors as well as we trust him now. You got to give him a chance. He is very professional, polite, humble, honest and respectful at all times. He did natural stone patio/walkway and a firepit along with a unique water fountain for us.

Mr. Vasquez and his company J&A Stone Work did an outstanding job in laying stone over our existing cement patio, enclosing a rose garden with a stone wall, and building a stone wall around a tree on a sloped bank. I rarely write reviews, but working with Arthur was great. He responded to all of my calls and was on time for all of the appointments. He was able to give me a written quote (and emailed the quote) at the time of the first appointment. I had a small brick patio and wanted it expanded and added brick edging around the flower beds. I also wanted to add brick pavers (50 SF) on the side of the house for my trash cans. Arthur and his crew were on time and completed the project in 2 days. I have to say that the job came out better than I expected. They did everything that I asked for and any questions that I had were answered. I would not hesitate to recommend J&A and will use them again for any future projects.

Arthur, the owner of J&A Stonework, far surpassed my expectations of contractors in the Triangle. From the moment I met Arthur, I was impressed by how patiently he listened to my goals and concerns. Once we discussed the magnitude of the project and our budget, we identified design options which is when I learned how much he enjoys the artistic aspect of designing and creating a beautiful hardscape. Arthur and his crew, which has been with him for eleven years, started on time and finished exactly when they said they would, all while battling inclement weather. Before, during, and after the process Arthur was there to answer any of my questions and concerns. He set up the patio with a beautiful fire pit, and also included high grade LED lights, that are automated, for the retaining wall and the steps. The magnitude of this project was around 600-700 sqft. Our ugly back yard has now been transformed into a beautiful welcoming outside space. Additionally, we were surprised by two things at the end of the project. First, Authors crew laid out grass seed, and hay, and was sure to grade and prep the rest of the lot for me. This was something that I didn’t ask about and didn’t expect them to do. Second, after paying Arthur for the job, he sent one of his guys back over the next day to pressure wash our driveway. The driveway, to include the street in front of our house was sparkling. We were blown away with the skill, creativity, timeliness, and overall professionalism of Arthur and his crew. We feel Arthur and his crew went way above and beyond with our project, but after getting to know them, expect that this may be their norm. We couldn’t be happier with Arthur. Give him a call.

J&A is a great company to work with. The work performed was exactly as we agreed to with no surprises, additional costs, or delays. Arthur is a wonderful person to work with and he has a team that is equally as nice. They even watered my lawn while I was away. I am delighted with the new flagstone patio. Arthur was completely responsive via email, he was timely with meetings and listened attentively. The patio was completed as promised and is a quality installation including the grading of the land and the placement of the stepping stones along the side of my home. My neighbors are envious, but also happy to have a nice, comfortable place to sit. I highly recommend J & A Stone Work.

We recently had Arthur and his excellent team install a flagstone patio, stacked stone retaining wall, stepping stones and a facing around a yard fountain. Without question, it was a professional and quality job that exceeded our expectations. Arthur is very honest and trustworthy and brings a creative design capability to the job that allows good ideas become great ones. His customer service is excellent in responding quickly, taking the time to plan things appropriately and then making sure you are happy with the results. Can't recommend highly enough. I had a retaining wall and new patio put in. Arthur was very easy to work with, reasonable quote, met with me on several different occasions to go over the plans and pick out materials. Work was done on schedule. Even took the plants that had to be dug up, and replanted them in a nice arrangement. Work was done just a couple weeks ago and already have received tons of compliments on our backyard.

I HIGHLY recommend J & A Stone for any masonry or stonework. We had a major crack in our concrete patio. Arthur provided a fair estimate for removal and a great design for the replacement. The work was completed promptly, they did not damage our yard in the process and the results are amazing! Our new concrete paver patio is easily one of my favorite areas of our home!

Recently, Arthur and his crew completed a backyard patio for us. From the very beginning, Arthur was a true professional. He was clear in all our dealings and met all of his commitments. The project was a 180 square foot backyard patio using flagstone with a concrete slab base. We could not have been more pleased with the final project. It is beautiful but even more, the quality of workmanship is outstanding. And to top it off, the crew cleaned up after the job so neatly that you wouldn't even know they had been there. The workers were all meticulous in this their work and so conscientious at every step of the process. They are all true craftsmen.

J and A Stonework is a class operation. The cost was reasonable and the estimate was the same as the final price, the work done skillfully, the work finished ahead of time, the employees cooperative and pleasant, and the work area cleaned up each day. The owner, Arthur, was easy to work with, gave sound advice, and even met us at the stone yard to help us choose stone, and added good creative ideas which gave us a more artistic result. I would hire them again in a minute.

We recently completed some long awaited hardscape projects at our home (a new cobblestone walkway and a couple of planter walls). We spoke to several companies before hiring Arthur with J&A Stoneworks. We felt he did an excellent job at listening to us as we outlined the scope of work. His pre-job communication was clear, friendly and confidence inducing. His pricing was very fair. Based on this combination of facts we awarded him the job. Once the job began, he and his crew did nothing but enhance our comfort level in our selection of J&A Stoneworks. The end result was beautiful, solid and as a former engineer- very level. Arthur and J&A Stoneworks were the absolute right choice!

We used J&A for our back yard hardscaping project, as well as a sidewalk. He installed a wall, firepit, columns, and a 4 ton rock! Arthur was amazing to work with, clean, professional, always available. Besides the beauty of the finished product, his timeline was the most amazing part. He quoted this project to take 4 weeks, and by week 3 he was wrapping up.

As a homeowner this was my first experience with a back yard renovation. Art and his crew were nothing short of amazing. They were timely, professional, corteous and kept a very clean work site. Arthur just finished our project last week and I cannot recommend him and his company enough. We wanted a pergola added to our patio, we have a craftsman type home and there were limitations to the area, so I had fears that no one would understand what I was looking for. I had a number of other contractors come out to give estimates and ideas. I just wasn't satisfied with any of them, until Arthur came out! Working with J & A Stone Works was a great experience. Not only was Arthur and his crews work very good but Arthur made sure I got what I was looking for. My general contractor gave me samples of manufactured stone to choose from. Arthur took me to a stone place to look a flagstone to use for the hearth and we picked something out. The next day he came back and said that he thought I might like something else for the stone after seeing what I picked out for the hearth. He took me to another place and I really liked the stone from this place and I am much happier with this stone. Arthur didn't have to come back since I would never have known but he went the extra mile to give me what I wanted. I would highly recommend him for any stonework that someone wants done. I used J&A Stone Work to repair some stone on my foundation which also required removing and replacing my concrete steps. They also waterproofed and filled in some cracks on the foundation cover. During the actual project execution, they were fast yet diligent. Over 20 tons of gravel were nicely shaped into the pathways in couple of days, as planned. I can't say enough about Arthur and his crew. I was excited to start my outdoor living space project and was quickly discouraged when after contacting 12 other companies I couldn't even get them to give me an estimate. We hired Arthur to finish our patio and to build a built in grill area. We felt his price was very reasonable, but what impressed me most was his honesty and customer service.
