Royalty Construction

We had our house built by Royalty in 2021 (well, we hope it will be finished this year anyway). The whole family is an absolute nightmare to work with; a toxic combination of incompetence, superficial empathy, externalization of blame, and gaslighting. Here is just a sampling of the biggest issues we've had (it's hard to keep track of it all; I literally have a list two pages long from when we moved in): - just generally trying to get a response from them - they just...don't respond. It's almost surreal. - the email we got, with *less than 24 hours to our move-in date*, that our house wasn't ready and we couldn't move in the next day. - the sheer amount of work left to do when we did actually move in (e.g., unfinished flooring, painting, shower installation, no hardware on cabinets, no eavestroughs, entire front of house not sided...the list honestly just goes on and on...the first 6 months have been a nightmare). - a massive water leak in the upstairs bathroom that leaked all the way down to the basement (reason? someone just forgot to tighten a valve). - the subcontractor who showed up threatening to put a lien on our house because he hadn't been paid by Royalty after months of work (apparently this is quite typical for them). - terrible sheet metal and gas line work (which their guy, who is the husband of one of the daughters, admitted he did poorly because he was "busy") - the inspector continues to find unsatisfactory repairs every time he comes back. Everyone complains about Royalty. Everyone. Every customer on our street who also had their house built by Royalty and is having all the same issues. Every single one of their subcontractors. Other builders. The inspectors who regularly see the work they do. They have a reputation for doing everything they can to get your money and then you never hear from them again. The horror stories that we've heard are almost unimaginable. We are just so thankful that we were really firm on the amount of our holdback, and haven't been willing to release a cent yet. I think it's honestly the only reason they even respond to every 15th email, text, or call. Please, please, please avoid working with this company. I truly hope that no one has to go through even a fraction of what we have with them, and sadly we seem to be some of the lucky ones.

We purchased our modern and unique home from Royalty Construction. Our home boasts very careful workmanship, modern design, and the knowledge and professionalism that was carried out in the careful attention to detail in building and helping maintain our home was also evident in the purchase of our home. They still are involved in our home years later as they are my go-to people when doing new things in our home and yard. This company has been nothing but good to us, they have taken the time to get to know us as people and not just disappeared after the sale. They are as invested in the maintenance and overall look of our home as we are. The awards this company has and Jillian Lay in general have won have been more than deserved! They are top-notch when it comes to modern design and a work ethic to match. Undeniably the best in the City and the Province!

Royal built a house for us last year and it turned out way better than we can imagine. I feel grateful to have Royalty by my side along the whole construction and interior design phase. They have the most diligent owner - Reg Amendt and the most talented designer - Jillian Lay. Their design is beyond excellence. I highly recommend Royalty. It has been an awesome experience to work with their family.

We chose Royalty because I had an excellent relationship with Reg when I bought the house. Royalty goes above and beyond to satisfy their customers. Jillian, our contractor/designer knew her products well and helped us every step of the way. Our renovations look superb, from paint to floors- I am so happy with my house now. And- they were completed in a timely fashion. I will definitely chose Royalty for the next project. 5 star for sure!!!!
