The team at JMC renovated two bathrooms in my house recently. I’m particularly pleased with the quality of their work and paying attention to meticulous details that makes the difference. From designing the layout, selection of materials, preparation for demolition, day of demolition, coordination of different experts, construction and finishing, to various town inspections, the team at JMC makes the renovation went smoothly and the bathrooms turned out exactly as the desired layout and design. Keeping rest of the house clean and minimizing dust were also important, as we were living and working in the house while the renovation was going on. The project manager kept us in the loop so I knew what to expect. They certainly take pride in their workmanship and I highly recommend their work.

I don't write many reviews but our experience with JMC Home Improvement was so exceptional I felt compelled to share it. From the get-go, JMC clearly and specifically articulated its process for a home improvement/renovation project (in our case, our master bath) - first on its website, then in its downloadable content, and then in our first call to make an appointment with Kelly, who took our call. In each case, the process described was exactly the same. And in our first call with owner John MacDougall to discuss our project, John again reiterated how the project would be handled by JMC - the stages, an initial estimated cost range, the people involved. The key thing to note is that the process JMC follows entails ongoing communication with the customer (us), and a level of attention, responsiveness, and caring from every individual at JMC that we worked with that was unique - from Kelly who answered the phone to Donna, our designer, to Tammy, our project manager, to Gary, who did most of the on-site work, to Anthony, who handled a number of ancillary tasks, to John himself. Even the demolition crew on Day 1 was polite and courteous, efficient and attentive not to damage anything (other than the MB, which was destoyed down to the studs!). After a very helpful set of sessions with Donna at the front end to design our new master bath and specify every component that would be needed, we were provided a complete set of plans, and a contract that included every detail in the statement of work and the list of materials. The cost was the cost - we didn't make any changes and neither did JMC. The job started on the date scheduled, and except for days when town inspections were scheduled and/or drying time (e.g., for spackle) was required, Gary or a subcontractor (in our case, the electrical work and for tiling when Gary took some time off) was onsite every date. Whoever was supposed to be onsite on a given day called 30 or so minutes before arriving and then showed up as promised. The job site was protected (all floors, carpets, etc.), a HEPA filtration system to capture dust. At the end of each day, Gary would wet swiffer the protective floor covering from the job site through the hallways, down the staircase and out to the front door through which he exited. When there were minor issues, Tammy and Gary were quick to address them. One example - the protective floor to ceiling plastic barrier that separated the work area from the master bathroom caused some damage to the ceiling when it was removed toward the end of the job. When we communicated the issue, Anthony inspected it, said he couldn't repair it, and then came in the following week and repainted the entire bedroom ceiling. The overall project was done on time, on budget and with a level of quality that was top-shelf. (And there's a lifetime warranty on JMC's workmanship). Overall, if I could give JMC 6 or 7 stars I would.

John, Kelly, Tammy, Rick, Donna and the whole team were great to work with from beginning to end. They listened to what we wanted to do, offered suggestions, and always kept in mind the end goal of a beautifully designed bathroom that was also practical and safe for an older family member. A particular shout out to John for connecting throughout the process as the head of the company, Tammy as the project manager who was always responsive to any questions we had once the project started, Kelly, the office manager, for navigating the HOA, and Rick and his crew for sending us photos regularly as we could not be on-site. JMC may be more costly than some other contractors out there but we think the quality of the work, the one stop shopping from design to completion, including navigating HOA restrictions and demands, and the seamless effort from construction to finish was worth it. We will use them again in the future.

Master Bathroom Remodel Experience This review is after JMC remodeled our master bathroom a year later; our family used the bathroom daily and are highly satisfied with their work. Before we chose to work with JMC, we had three essential needs in mind based on the family’s then busy situation: We need a partner that can help us take care the entire process from design to build smoothly, on time and no major hiccup We need a professional team that has extensive experience in the field, who does beautiful work and knows how to do the things right We need a team who listens, takes feedback, communicates well and be transparent A year later as we reflected on the above, we can say with confidence that JMC checked every mark. Professionalism and Problem Solving: What stood out the most was the team’s commitment to identifying and resolving issues in a creative and efficient manner. For example, the team found a foundation problem from the previous owner and didn't just fix it – they found the root cause and applied the right solutions. This has greatly ensured the long-term integrity of the project in our opinion. Our project lead took the time to explained what had been done on a daily basis, and the progressing timeline to finish the work. All in all, our family is truly impressed with JMC for their design and build expertise, their professionalism and problem-solving abilities, and their meticulous project management and follow-up. We had quotes from a number of local contractors and decided on JMC for our downstairs full-bath because (1) my wife and I agreed that we needed a full-service contractor (versus an install-only type contractor), (2) JMC is highly rated (Google, Houzz, etc.) and has been in business for a long time, and (3) JMC remodeled my neighbor’s kitchen, so we saw their work first-hand. Our designer, Donna, was great to work with – her taste in design seemed to be similar to ours and she had a lot of helpful recommendations. While we are able to pick individual components that we like, choosing ones that all work well together in a unified and cohesive design theme proved difficult for us – having a designer to help us with this was extremely helpful. Also, it was very, very helpful to have the CAD model that gave a 3D rendering of our finished bathroom – JMC did this and we went through several iterations. All of the materials/components we chose were supplied/sourced by JMC, except for our vanity (we found one we liked at a retailer, and it also reduced lead time versus a custom vanity). Our demo and install was done by Rick and Anthony, they were also great to work with – respectful, friendly, and did quality work. They called/texted every morning to let us know they were on the way, showed up ON TIME every day, and they kept the work area and surrounding area in our home VERY clean and orderly. Our project manager, Tammy, was super nice and checked in with us frequently to make sure everything was going smoothly and that we were satisfied with the work as it progressed. We did have an issue with tile changing color as it was installed, but JMC took care of it to our complete satisfaction (details are in my Google review - I had to leave it out in the Houzz review due to character limitations). Overall, the quality of work was great and the people were great. In speaking with John, the owner, it's clear that 100% customer satisfaction is his priority. I highly recommend JMC for home remodeling if you're in the Morris County area of NJ.

JMC remodeled our hall bathroom earlier this year and the end result was beautiful. JMC was an absolute pleasure to have in our home and we are grateful for their kindness and respect they showed given I had just lost my mom. The entire design and build process was defined clearly by John upfront, then we met Donna in the showroom who listened to what we wanted and guided us through the initial design options. Once demolition began, the entire team’s coordination, communication and execution was excellent. Everyone (Donna, Tammy, Eliot, Anthony, Tom) who we interacted with was professional, on time every day, reliable and focused on delivering a quality product. For the past 15 years JMC has done many projects in my home, family room renovation, kitchen, baths, portico, siding, and other projects. I’ve come back repeatedly because I can count on them for superior workmanship, on time delivery, on budget and a clean and efficient approach to work. The plans are accurate and inclusive of all details. All the men are friendly and always work to make sure I’m pleased. Besides that, I live the fact the JMC provides a turnkey approach to home renovations. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

We recently worked with JMC to renovate a three-season patio room into a home office, and we are extremely pleased at how everything turned out! It was great to have a single company to work with on all aspects of the project, from initial discussions, drafting plans and architectural drawings, construction, and painting. It was so reassuring to know we could always email or call someone at JMC and get a response back quickly. Everyone we worked with was extremely professional and friendly, and the project turned out better than we imagined.

Excellent work and professionalism. Reliable, efficient, & reasonably priced. We had two additions added - 6 years apart and many years ago - and we're having them back for some additional remodel work. They replaced 4 transom windows and the upper and lower sashes on 3 other windows a couple of years ago. EXCELLENT work! The stains on the new sashes matched perfectly with the rest of the window frames. No touch-ups were needed for the 4 transoms. They popped the old ones out and put the new ones in which took about 4 hours including the 6 sashes. A few days later they were stained in about 2 hours. Yesterday, 5 new (replacement) doors were hung. New hinges and doorknobs were installed. It took less than a day and the workmanship is EXCELLENT!

We truly enjoyed our experience with JMC. This was our first large renovation on our home and we were unsure what to expect. JMC was thoughtful and was attentive to our needs during the design process. As construction began, it was wonderful to have the same familiar faces working on the project everyday. They were able to deliver everything we wanted on time and most importantly on budget. We would highly recommend for any gut and redesign project. We will be using them again.

JMC completed a full master bath renovation for us, including a raised ceiling to maximize the space, while leaving undisturbed the adjacent bedroom and walk-in closet. An amazing transformation which was accomplished with very little fuss or disturbance. The work by the JMC team is top notch, Rick was masterful with the on-site work, with excellent design and seamless coordination support from Donna and Tammy. There were absolutely no surprises, and the results are outstanding. We highly recommend JMC for their excellent skillsets and professionalism.

We had our hall bathroom completely redone by JMC. We love the end product, and we loved working with JMC. They are a well oiled machine. We met John, the owner, and he shared how his company works. They are all inclusive from design to supplies to builder to plumber to electrician to painter. This made the whole process seamless and easy for us. Donna, Tom, Tammy, and Elliot were all professional and helpful throughout the whole process. They were timely day to day, and the project was done within a month of the start of construction. JMC was fantastic to work with, and easy to have in our space as we underwent a kitchen remodel. Very professional and friendly, and attentive to details. We remodeled our kitchen, refinished the wood floors, added wood floors (in kitchen and upstairs), and painted several rooms as we have an open layout. The painting crew was also impressive. Donna was great to work with during the design process, and very attentive throughout the construction. Their "lifetime guarantee" was an amazing bonus. They did not start the project until most items had arrived in the warehouse which made the project efficient and we didn't get stuck with any delays in timeline which was incredible given the supply chain issues at the time. Would definitely recommend!

Working with JMC was a pleasure from start to finish. We chose JMC because they have in-house designers. The designer we worked with helped us consider details we hadn’t thought of for our kitchen design. Everyone who came to our house was professional and courteous. We received texts each morning with an ETA. Before leaving each day, floors were swept and trash was removed. We are very pleased with the quality of materials and quality of workmanship. We love our new kitchen!

We used JMC many years ago for a very large remodel. There were a great many variables involved in the project so there were considerable twists and turns throughout. John helped us navigate them all, from supplier delays to shifting township requirements. Through it all, John was attentive to our needs and always focused on satisfying them as far as possible. His advice, counsel and actions kept the project on target to a completion that was on-time and met the budget. From full bathrooms to new floors to a porch addition to removing walls for bigger rooms, JMC renovated almost my entire home. The team was always on time. When they said they were going to be here, they were here. They were always so organized, no mess was left even if they were coming back the next day. Products were always of the highest quality. All lighting, tiling, installations, painting, just everything was completed with the most attention to detail. John the owner would come by to check progress and discuss any concerns/upcoming projects. Kelly was always answering the office phone and was never too busy to discuss every project. Together they both made sure I was happy with all decisions. After they completed everything indoors we decided to replace the outdoor deck and add a porch with ceiling fans, heaters and lights & I could not have been happier. It’s absolutely beautiful. I’ve worked with JMC for over 10 years now, they are one of the most competent and professional remodeling companies that I’ve come across in over 40 years in the business. I’m a great believer in the concept that nothing works well in the field unless it’s detailed near perfectly on paper first. That attention to detail in the planning stages of a project is one of the characteristics that sets JMC apart from the crowd. The other, of course is execution; JMC’s team, from Design Staff to Installation Crew, is exemplary, and I never hesitate to recommend them. It’s construction, there are going to be surprises and problems, it’s inherent in the business; what separates the wheat from the chaff is how those are addressed and resolved in real time – JMC comes through.

The team at JMC recently completed a full remodel of our original 1940s kitchen. My wife and I are stunned at the transformation of this space and would have never been able to do it with the skill and swiftness of the JMC team. All the workers we met we courteous and adept in there trade. The cost was certainly more than competitors, however the reduced stress, cleanliness and quality of the project was well worth it for us. I will not hesitate to recommend and use JMC in the future!

I’ve always wanted a bathtub big enough to stretch out in. But our 1860s farmhouse had a small, cramped bathroom with a 4 foot tub/shower. Thankfully, at JMC, they know geometry and how to make the most of every available inch. It was our first reno project and the JMC process was transparent. Our JMC designer listened to my wishlist and our budget and guided me through the process of choosing tile and fixtures. Our contractor told us what to expect each day. And, without changing the room’s footprint, JMC gutted and rebuilt it into an airy wet-room with an open, tiled shower and a large, black iron clawfoot—the tub of my dreams!

We chose JMC to do our kitchen renovation because we wanted to have it done correctly and our past experiences with the company have shown that they will do all facets of the job correctly. In our case, we did not simply have a cosmetic restoration, there was significant structural work that needed to be addressed. We knew this prior to starting the renovation, so there was no shock when the estimates and timelines came back. Our kitchen needed to be gutted to the studs, ceiling and floor joists and reconstructed. Structural deficiencies were addressed (blocking to foundation, reinforcement of joists, engineered lumber header, leveling of floors and making walls vertical). We found the process to be straightforward and we were involved in every step. We had multiple meetings with the designer to ensure we both got what we wanted and understood the process by which decisions were made. There was aesthetic guidance, but our design ideas were incorporated. The construction phase went smoothly. The workers were very mindful of keeping things neat and clean, respectful of the house and property and of our personal spaces. We were on budget and just slightly over the timeline. Henry, who did the bulk of work was an extremely skilled craftsman and made suggestions for us to follow. I don't believe there was any suggestion that we didn't follow and we could not be more pleased with the final product. When all is said and done, there are probably less expensive alternatives than JMC, but if you value your property and want the job done correctly, I don't believe there are any better alternatives.

Open and honest work from people who know what to do. Never guessing when they will show, they are always on time or early. Communication never an issue and when problems arise JMC has always tried its best to make it right.

Our experience with JMC was outstanding from start to finish. After our initial outreach for a kitchen remodel through a reference, John was very responsive in setting up an introductory meeting. During the meeting, John set clear expectations for timing and outlined how JMC manages the experience from the contract, to design, to project management of the entire engagement. The designer Ana made a huge effort to both learn our style and find solutions for every detail. Throughout the process JMC met and exceeded all of these expectations. Worked with JMC Remodeling for a $70K kitchen renovation, full gut and layout change. There were a few hiccups in communication but were easily resolved, and their commitment to quality and satisfaction is superb. The team members were clean and respectful, as well as honest. I am looking to use them again for future projects.

JMC takes FANTASTIC care of their customers: In 2017 my wife and I hired JMC to do a first floor renovation (This was a big job which involved creating an open floor plan, and renovate the Kitchen, living room, and family room. We were initially drawn to the company because they were set up to take us through the project from design to completion. The crew at the time was professional and the work was amazing. We were very pleased with the final project. Fast forward to August of 2021. I discovered water leaking down our stack in the basement. I called a plumber and they of course had to cut holes in the ceiling and wall of our new kitchen and family room to discover that one of our copper pipes had corroded enough that the water was leaking through the pipe. The plumber needed me to get someone to open up the walls for them. I was at a bit of a loss on who to bring in so I figured I'd start with JMC. Not only did John (the owner) send out one of his guys to open the walls up, he was very willing to work with us in helping us put it all back together. The plumbers wouldn't give us an estimate until the walls were open, then come to find out we needed more walls open plus the top of a cabinet removed. Back Elliot from JMC came and opened up more of the wall. Less then a week after the plumber was done, our little job was scheduled and completed. Elliot and Anthony did an amazing job and unless you know where the issue was you can't even tell there was 3 massive holes in our walls and ceiling. My wife and I couldn't be happier. Believe me, JMC will always be the first call on our list if we have any new projects. Trust me when I tell you they stand behind their work and their customers.

JMC remodeled our master bathroom. We were very happy with JMC from start to finish. I chose them because I read the reviews thoroughly and liked the fact that they will come back to fix any issues with their work as long as you are still in your house. It made me confident that the work would be done correctly and well, and it was. The whole process with JMC was very organized and well done. I knew exactly what was going to happen at each step of the project and communication with everyone involved along the way was thorough and easy. Someone would text me every morning when they were coming and even while in the house if they needed to ask me a preference for how something would get done, so I did not have to worry about it interfering with taking care of my baby. When we wound up leaving the house while the job was completed, I was texted daily pictures of the bathroom by the tile installer so I could see the progress. Choosing the design for the bathroom was also made very easy because JMC has a showroom where you meet with their designer and pick everything out ahead of time. The designer used pictures from my Pinterest to help guide my decisions and it all came together very nicely. I cannot imagine a smoother process for a home remodel. JMC kept the house as clean as possible during the renovation, which was also important to me. I also found everyone who worked in our house to be very professional, and I didn’t have to worry about them not respecting our feelings towards prioritizing safety with masks and social distancing. Lastly, when I noticed the light fixture was a bit crooked, JMC automatically replaced it without hesitation. I am very happy with our decision to use JMC and with how the bathroom turned out.

Just want to thank JMC great work great staff. From start to finish no problems, cleaned up after a day of work didn't know there were working. If you want a job done pain free I recommend JMC.

This is my 3rd time using JMC in the past 5 years and, once again, they’ve been fantastic. From the first phone call to the wrap up visit, it’s always been a great experience. They stick to the schedules, their guys always call to let you know when they’re coming or if they’re running late, they put plastic down and keep the area they are working contained (the kitchen was the biggest project and they made it very manageable.) I’ve always been happy with the workmanship and if we run into a snag, they will present you with some options and work with you to make sure you’re satisfied with the end result. Nothing but positive things to say about John and his group! I’ve worked with other contractors and hands down, they are the best!

The team at JMC is first rate. You start the process with John and his approach and you end the process with John and how the experience was from the original expectations that were set. My family and I were so please that we were able to articulate not only what we wanted for a result, but also, how John and his team needed to integrate to the "culture of the house". With lots of things happening in a household of kids, wife, working from home, understanding how to be as invisible as possible was critical to JMC's success. I used JMC the first time to finish my basement. They were professional, on time and great to work with. They worked hard and completed the project in a timely manner! John and his team are all about customer satisfaction. Our kitchen remodel was a big undertaking for us and we couldn't be more thrilled with the results. Everything was beyond expectation. JMC designed and built my entire 1st floor, opened up kitchen, dining room and living room, during the Covid-19 pandemic. Everyone saw the before and after, cannot stop themselves from "wowing". After living in the new 1st floor for one month, my children love it so much, they have already forgotten what it was like before, feeling that it should have always been like this open space as we have it now. It has been a great experience working with JMC. My new 1st floor has a very simple design, nothing excessive. However, working for a design firm myself, I know that simple things are sometimes the most difficult to execute. JMC stands by the budget and timeline, the entire project was executed and finished almost exactly as the original planning. It means that JMC is extremely experienced, as the project plan can be easily impacted by so many things such as town inspection timelines, appliance deliveries, weather conditions, etc. Because of the pandemic, there was significant delay on my appliance delivery. We have also experienced major storm and power outage for almost 60 hours. Even with all that, the project was still completed in 10 weeks, exactly 10 weeks as JMC originally planned. Everyone I have worked with during the project is extremely professional with a positive, "can do" attitude, and any issues came up during the renovation were resolved completely to my satisfaction. I want to give a special shout out to Tom Alexander for his professionalism, patience and creativity. I also want to thank Tammy for all the design and material recommendations. I didn't go with the dark floor initially designed after seeing the flooring contractor finishing sanding the wood floor. Tammy was able to pause the flooring contractor to allow me more time for a final decision. She also encouraged me to go with my gut, as I will be the one living with it. I am so happy with the final result. I have made various design changes after the project started, e.g. changing the size of the kitchen island, changing the design of the TV wall, and above mentioned flooring color. No one on the JMC's team ever complained about these changes, and all of them were very accommodating and patient with me. It's been 5 months since the completion of the project. There were minor issues due to the change of temperature and humidity. JMC never hesitated to come and have them fixed. I believe that they truly stand by their life-time warranty. I will definitely use them for my future renovation projects, and recommend them to anyone.

We worked with JMC on 3 separate remodeling projects over the last 15 years; and we couldn't be more pleased with the outcome of each one. Obviously, we are satisfied if we contracted them 3 times. Over the span of the 15 years, I have to say that they have striven to raise the bar on the professionalism on their presentation from start to finish. Our jobs included completely gutting rooms down to the studs and rebuilding including built in cabinetry and finishing (painting/ wallpaper, etc) so that the rooms were move-in ready immediately upon completion. We contracted them to do 1/kitchen, 2/living room/dining room, 3/bathroom. They even built me custom radiator covers for every room in the house, so nice they look like pieces of furniture. We hired JMC to do a partial renovation of our master bathroom. The project involved replacing the shower while leaving the rest of the bathroom intact. The entire team did a magnificent job from beginning to end. We had a great experience at their design studio, where we met with the team and reviewed their ideas. They have a lot of experience and it shows in the way they proposed to execute the renovation. During the renovation, the team was professional and very careful to keep the rest of the house clean. We received constant updates from the office as well to ensure that everything was moving smoothly and that our concerns were dealt with. I am pretty critical of the work others do, and I have to say, I was VERY impressed with the work quality! JMC has always done excellent work for us over the past 20 years. My wife and I know that we are going to have a high quality job done at a fair price. We recently contracted with JMC for a second project, a master closet. Our first project included the renovation of a kitchen and 2 bathrooms. What I appreciate about JMC is they do what they say they are going to do. This may not sound like a big deal, but with contractors these days, that is a rare and appreciated quality. Look no further. JMC is the best contractor I have worked with or met. I contracted them to remodel a basement with a bathroom, family room, kitchen, entryway, and 2 bathrooms after my parents house suffered water damage. They were not the cheapest proposal I received but neither the most expensive. The process from the beginning (contract and concept) to completion (final inspection) was done professionally and to exact expectations. They were sensitive to holidays and my parents health issues. The JMC team is very courteous, kept the work area isolated and cleaned up at the end of every day. They are a great and caring company. I cannot recommend them enough. Also, they stand by their work with a lifetime warranty....when we needed them to fix something they worked on, they came right over; what contractor does this after they are fully paid and completed the job? We had our master bathroom remodeled by JMC three years ago and they did a terrific job, so happy with our new bathroom! JMC recently completed a bathroom and kitchen project for us. From start to finish we were overly impressed. The plans worked for both our understanding and the guys on the job. They were meticulous about setting up plastic and protecting against dirt and dust so that we felt as though our home was respected. The guys started early every day on our job, called first and asked if there was anything we wanted to discuss and arrived on time. I never had to worry if someone was going to show up and when. They were consistent and reliable. While working, the guys were focused on the task at hand. From start to finish, it was a pleasure to work with JMC and look forward to future projects with them.

I selected JMC to build an add-on garage to my house on Indian Lake, Denville. It required considerable skilled workers to fill in a steep driveway, lay concrete floor, build foundation prior to constructing the frame and roof of the new garage. Adding two windows and a door as well as the motorized garage door for the car was completed as was putting a gas heater, a deep-sink, and all electrical and plumbing. Last of all, the attic had a drop-down ladder that gave me added storage space. All in all, I was extremely please with the outcome so much so that I asked JMC to help with the granite counter tops in my kitchen which JMC had done for me in the late 1990's. Couldn't be happier with each project.

We hired JMC approximately a year ago to renovate our tired old master bathroom. Every time I walk into the bathroom I am so thankful that we chose JMC. They made the renovation really easy and smooth from the design stage through picking tile and fixtures and paint to completion of the project. They were communicative, thorough, and treated our home more gently and carefully than we do. JMC's attention to detail and care for their customers is unparalleled. They fast became our dogs' best buddies too (I think one of them is still convinced she is part of their team.) They were more expensive than some of the other quotes we received and we chose them because of their excellent reviews and the confidence I had after meeting John that we would not have to micromanage the project - they are truly worth every penny. We would definitely hire them for our next project and highly recommend them to anyone we know and care about.

For the third time, we had an awesome experience with John and JMC Home Remodeling. The first 2 times were in our previous home. When we "right-sized" to our townhome, John came up with architectural renderings and even swapped the existing dining room with our brand new kitchen. His experience eased the renovation by getting the plans approved by the town and condo association. Whether your particular contracting needs are for a kitchen, bath, or what you may consider small OR a total overhaul of this 35 year old townhome, I wouldn't consider having anyone else except JMC Home Remodeling fulfill our needs.

JMC provided excellent service from start to finish and I am extremely pleased with the job that John and his team did in building out our basement. John takes great pride in everything at JMC and is very customer focused. The communication from him and his whole team is timely, professional and courteous. Great renovation of our guest bathroom. JMC did a fantastic job on a complete gut and renovation of our guest bathroom. We got 4 quotes, and I was not surprised (after reading other reviews) that the quote from JMC was the highest – but it certainly wasn’t outrageous and the value for the money was worth it. As noted by others, the start up process is a little different. I was ready for the initial interview. John asked good questions and gave good answers. In my opinion, he has every right to make sure he is comfortable with his clients. I can see how it could be off-putting to some people. On the initial site visit, John had a lot of insight into what we wanted, but also had several ideas we hadn’t considered. The visit was thorough, and JMC got back to us with a quote in a timely fashion. What we liked best about JMC’s proposal was the near-complete turnkey process. For all other contractors that we talked to, we would be expected to purchase all the materials ourselves and have everything delivered to our house before getting started. All contractors assured us that they would provide us guidance, a detailed list of what we needed to purchase, etc. but at the end of the day we really appreciated the turnkey process, it was so much easier. Once we decided to use JMC, we had a very good visit with the design staff, and to pick out the details at the showroom. We wanted to keep our current sink, and they were fine with that (other contractors were a little iffy). The only glitch we encountered was when the start date approached. At the initial meeting, we had told JMC that we would be on a vacation for 10 days in June, so we could not start then, and we would prefer not to start until we were back. Communications went haywire somehow. Not only was the start date only 2 days before our vacation, but we were never informed of the start date. I got a call at work asking me to move a car out of our driveway because the dumpster was being delivered, and that’s the first time I knew we were starting! It worked out, but if it had happened just 2 days later when we were on vacation it would have been a huge headache. As it was, we were not home for the first 10 days of work, which did make me nervous. After that, it was very smooth. Workers were prompt, cleaned up every day, were friendly and professional. The inspection and permit process were very smooth. At the end, our punch list was very short due to the very high quality. A couple of minor things here and there. To sum up, outstanding work from JMC. A little pricier than others but in our opinion the turnkey process, the professionalism, and the fantastic result was worth it.

JMC recently completed a total bathroom renovation for us in our colonial home built in 1926. From the initial consultation, we felt completely comfortable and at ease with John and his detailed and straightforward approach for how the project would unfold. John is an extremely trustworthy person and as such, so are all of the associates who work for him. Tammy is an expert in the design process and instantly connected to our vision. She has vast knowledge in all different types of options for literally every single component of your renovation. She was extremely timely to respond to any questions we had and was very driven to make sure all of the items we chose matched the specifications we desired. Mike was on our job everyday and is a master of his craft. He regularly texted/called us to know when he was coming, what was completed for the day, and what was to be completed the next day. He was on-site every single day from start to completion. Mike was also extremely trustworthy and took care of the house as if it was his own. He cleaned up every day and when we came home, we could not even tell there was a construction project going on in our home. He is simply fantastic! We would utilize JMC again, without hesitation, for any other remodeling projects. Similarly, we would also recommend them to others for any of their home renovation needs.

Once again JMC did a beautiful job in our home. We are still amazed at the brilliant job they did putting in our new kitchen. It has been about a year and we could not be happier. In fact we spend much of our time enjoying it! On this occasion they put in a new floor, toilet and trim in one of the bathrooms. Both my wife and I work but this is not an issue as JMC has a key and we have the utmost trust in them. They left it so clean it almost seemed like they had never even come. That attitude starts at the top and filters through every employee in the company. A dedicated team is assigned to your project and they see it through from start to finish, there is never any wondering about who, if anyone, will show up on any day. Scheduling is very efficient with zero down time, work starts promptly at 7:30am every day and someone calls you if they are going to be even 15 minutes late. Each individual that was assigned to our project took pride in their work and has shown high levels of professionalism, attention to detail, and expertise in what they do. The communication process at JMC is another area of excellence. Any problems or questions are immediately addressed by either the individual worker, the lead carpenter, the project manager, or John himself. This is a well-run organization that treats you like you are part of their family. If you value your time and are looking to have a remodeling job done that is of high quality and relatively stress-free, I highly recommend JMC!

Two years ago, JMC completed a complete kitchen and bath remodel and then also did a refresh on a full bath and a refresh on a 1/2 bath, plus painting, plus a few misc repairs (1 complete kitchen, 1 complete bath, 1.5 bath refresh, painted whole house, misc. other repairs). I've waited this long because I wanted to see how it stood up to the test of time. Before the remodel - excellent communication, very nice design (their design was why we chose them over others), appropriate selection of choices. During the remodel - yes, of course, I changed things up as we went along in each case they were very accommodating. I never felt at all like they had any other work in progress, I was always the focus during the project. Since I was living their during this, they understood my needs and coordinated which items would be "offline" (ie, always make sure at least 1 shower is available) so that I could stay there. Cannot say enough good things about execution. After the remodel - so far (2 to 2.5 yrs later, depending upon which part of the project) everything has held up very well! I even had two issues (one electrical and one window) that turned out to be completely unrelated to the remodels and they fixed it for free (when is the last time someone fixed something for you for free?). A few things / advice: 1. They weren't the cheapest, but were very close (within 10%). And a lot of times, you get what you pay for. The slight premium was worth the professionalism. That said, a few times they talked me out of a more expensive choice for something, that in hindsight, has turned out to be just perfect. So, not up-sell here! 2. If I had to do it all over again, I would have spent more time looking at/investigating the granite. Maybe even have it brought in so I could see it the space before it was cut. 3. I drove the painter crazy with a billion "could you please put it on the wall so I could see it" ... but I'm glad I did. (She was very accommodating). Unfortunately, since we painted the whole house, I somewhat lost track of which exact colors went where, so, if I had to do it again, I would have been more careful to document exactly what we did, to ease future touch-ups.

JMC recently completed a bathroom redesign and renovation for us that involved expanding the room by opening up an adjacent closet. After consultation, they produced a design that met our needs and then responded creatively to adapt the design when demolition revealed additional space was available. The work was professionally done and met the high standards we expected. Without fail, workers were on time, polite, and tidy. Good lines of communication were maintained when an unavoidable delay occurred. We particularly appreciated having Rick’s consistent presence onsite as the project progressed. We were delighted with the end result and would feel confident to use their services again.

JMC was professional, polite, and responsive. They respect your house, which is always a scary notion inviting strangers into your home. Our renovation came out beautiful. John and his team are great. Rick was on site every day and did a great job.

We were extremely happy with JMC’s renovation of our master bathroom. From start to finish, they exceeded our expectations. Design: JMC’s designs and layout for the renovation were outright better than the other companies that we considered. JMC was the only one that proposed rotating the shower by 90 degrees, which resulted in a dramatic improvement in the layout of the bathroom. Integrity: JMC did not take any shorts cuts over the course of the project. The materials and design were all consistent with the agreed plan. Further, JMC was extremely responsive and went above and beyond in completing the (very modest) punch list at the end of the project. We DID NOT have to chase them. Finally, we asked John for advice on a few additional projects we were considering. In several instances, he gave advice that was against his own interests (e.g., a certain project would be more expensive than it’s worth), which we very much appreciated. Final Product: We are extremely happy with the quality of the final product. The finish and attention to detail were superb and exceeded our every expectation. We will most definitely use JMC for future projects of our own and would not hesitate to suggest them to friends and family.

We experienced problems over the summer of 2018 with flooding in our basement. Once we had a sump pump and french drains installed as well as waterproofing of the external foundation, we were in dire need of basement remodeling. We were looking for a contractor who would handle the project from start to finish, and we were extremely happy to find JMC! They were with us every step of the way, from the initial design work to full implementation. The workers who came to our home were experienced professionals who did excellent quality work and were very easy to work with. When unexpected things came up (and they always do), JMC presented options and we worked together to resolve the issue. All deadlines and budgets were met and the end result is that our basement looks WONDERFUL! We just wish the rest of our home looked as good! We will definitely consider JMC for future remodeling projects!

Back in 2012 when I was selling my old house in Lake Hiawatha, there were major issues with the foundation that had to be fixed before the sale could be completed. Through a recommendation of my realtor, I met John MacDougall who owned JMC Home Improvement. John and his staff at JMC did an amazing job back then and because of their excellent work the house was sold. When my wife and I decided this year it was time for renovations to our current 1963 Lake Parsippany home kitchen and bathroom, she agreed that we should work w/ John and his staff at JMC because of my great experience with them in the past. We felt we could trust him to give us a fair estimate for a quality renovation. Now that the renovations are completed, we couldn’t be happier with the results. John initially came to our home and listen to our thoughts on what we wanted to do, providing suggestions along the way. After the initial meeting, we met with his amazing designer Tammy at their office in Lake Parsippany. Tammy worked with my wife and I to pick out all the cabinets, countertops, tile and paint colors that would create the kitchen and bathroom we were looking for. Debbie, the office manager at JMC, kept in contact with us during the entire project to make sure we were kept informed of the projects progress. Once work began, his project manager Jack and his entire crew worked hard over the course of about 6 weeks to get everything done for us on time and for the estimate he gave us. Along the way the crew were truly professional, and took the time to answer all our questions that arose during the project. They always called before coming, and when they left things were always cleaned up and tucked away. I’ve had in the past at my old house a kitchen renovation done by one of the big stores, and I truly can say that work cannot compare to the quality of work that John and JMC provided us at our current home. We now have the amazing kitchen and bathroom we wanted. We plan to work with John again in the near future on further projects to enhance our home. I contracted with JMC to finish our basement. At the time I was pregnant and wanted a contractor who would not only implement the vision that I had for a kid friendly basement complete with soccer field, but I wanted it to be seamless in the coordination between all the different contractors (e.g. electricians, carpenters, flooring, etc.) with little to no effort needed from me. JMC delivered in full on all of it and then some. They coordinated with the town to get all the necessary paperwork and appointments set-up for permits. They brought the flooring options to my house so all I had to do was point and say "this one." The part that I did spend quite a bit of time on was laying out the plans with John. He was very patient and accommodating with all the changes I wanted made and ultimately issued the perfect plans so that all the builders knew exactly what to do. The workers were professional and clean and the workmanship was wonderful. Everything turned out exactly as I expected. I did receive quotes from other companies, and while JMC was not necessarily the cheapest (nor the most expensive), the work they promised, and the timing at which they promised the work done, was done exactly as we agreed upon. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a full service contractor that does excellent work. Very happy with our new basement.

We are thrilled with our choice to use JMC for our Kitchen/living room/dining room renovation. It was a big project that changed 90% of the first floor of our home. WE LOVE IT! We were incredibly nervous to follow through with this project, especially as friends and family each had a "kitchen nightmare" story to tell. The only friend who did not have such a story was the friend who recommended JMC to me! John has truly found the gems in the industry and combined them all into one company. From the moment we met the JMC team, we knew we were making the right choice. We met many times to go over the designs, process, and other details before the project began. We were given a clear start date, the team started on time, AND FINISHED ON TIME! 7 WEEKS! They came every single day and worked all day! Amazing! Every person who was working in our home was a true professional, expert, and artist. We felt that everyone working on this job cared deeply to do it perfectly, and they were respectful of our home and family. The process was easy for such a big job. (well, easy on us... the team was working very hard!) . We have 2 young children, ages 5 and 2. With 2 walls being knocked down and as I said, 90% of our first floor living space out of commission - plus the basement (we also had a beam installed to move 2 columns) we were nervous. It was easy to live here and feel safe. They cleaned up everyday, sealed off the work space, and most important, were predictable! I couldn't believe how stress free the entire project was, especially after hearing horror stories from friends, coworkers and family. They are the DISNEYWORLD of home improvement. By that mean high quality service, getting it done right the first time, and wanting their customers to be 100% satisfied. They cared as much about the process as they did about the outcome. The job we required was a complete gutting of our current kitchen/dining room, replaced with new large eat in kitchen. My wife and I had discussed remodeling for 13 years before we researched companies in earnest. We met with three companies and were so impressed and comfortable with John from JMC that we started immediately to meet with John and his awesome designer Tammy. What we expected to be a trying time turned out to be an enjoyable process as the entire staff were so kind and friendly. Tammy consistently sent us in the right direction to make our selections. Most items were on site and we seldom had to go elsewhere. The entire crew were pleasant and a joy to be around. It is still hard to imagine how they were able to keep work areas as clean as they did. They were also very trustworthy and we were very comfortable leaving our home in their hands. We would have to say that their master carpenter George is an artist in every sense of the word. All of the crew were professional as well as helpful. I am a disabled Veteran and they went out of their way to be personally helpful to me. The foreman Jack was always available to us and quick to sort out any issue that came up. I must say that there were almost no issues whatsoever. Only a few we created by wanting to slightly alter something. We were also very fortunate to follow John’s suggestions regarding both an electrician as well as one for central air conditioning. We could not have been happier than we were with BA Colella Air Conditioning/plumbing and B&G Electric. We needed our first central air system and Brian designed an awesome system for our 1920’s home that we are thoroughly enjoying. Brian’s staff were also very pleasant and professional. The Electricians Greg and Brian had to do a complete service upgrade as well as all the new wiring required in the new kitchen. They also were professionals who were a joy to be around. We have been thoroughly enjoying our new beautiful kitchen for seven months now. When we entertain it is wonderful to have family and friends all together in such a lovely space. We consider JMC and their staff to be friends. We would most highly recommend JMC for any work that anyone needs or desires in their home.

JMC Kitchen Remodel From project conception to completion, our experience with JMC Home Improvement Specialists of Parsippany was excellent. Every interaction with owner, office staff, site supervisor, and work crews was professional, friendly, and accommodating. Our kitchen footprint did not change, but the definitive 80s almond laminate with wood trim stock cabinets clearly needed replacement, and we got the look and quality we wanted working with this company. JMC owner John MacDougall visited our home and talked about needs, dreams, and options. A visit to the office and showroom gave us the opportunity to meet with Tammy, design expert, who expertly guided us through choices for style, materials, and colors, and soon we were scheduling the four week job to totally demolish our existing kitchen and watch the transformation to the new one. At each stage of the work, demolition, cabinet installation, tile work, plumbing and electrical, we greatly appreciated having one site manager to oversee each crew. Each morning we received a phone call to alert us to the arrival and start time of the day, and without fail, they were there. Our home was treated with care and prepared as well as possible for dust and debris, and at the end of each workday, the entire area was swept and clean when they left. As the job came to its conclusion, there was always a quick response and fix to any of our concerns or problems. At the end of it all, our project came in on time and on budget. We could not be any more pleased with our experience and would highly recommend JMC for any remodeling and construction. Bravo!

Overall, we have had a very positive experience with JMC. This is now our second major project with them. The quality of their work is top rate and you can tell their employees really care about their work. JMC makes it easy to transform a concept into a finished product with the help of their excellent designer, Tammy. In addition, JMC really goes above and beyond to make sure other areas of your home are kept clean while the work is being performed. This fall we contracted with JMC Home Remodeling to completely renovate a master bathroom/ closet and a full hallway bathroom. Everyone at JMC was professional, helpful and friendly. Mid-project the third floor bathroom my husband and I were using developed a leak leaving us without a shower. Quickly and efficiently JMC completed the second floor hallway shower for our use. John and Jack worked with us to develop a plan and renovation of the third floor bathroom was seamlessly added to our project. This was all accomplished ( three bathrooms) during the busy Holiday season with little disruption to our family thanks to JMC. We are very pleased with the bathroom renovations and appreciate the great quality and service provided by the entire team at JMC.

We had 2 bathrooms gutted and remodeled by JMC . The workers always called that they were on their way and were very neat . They always made sure there was a toilet hooked up for use, very important when you're old like we are . The few hiccups we had were dealt with very quickly . If and when we decide to have any more remodeling done JMC will be doing it .

Our two bathroom remodels by JMC exceeded our expectations at every step in the process. From design to completion, the JMC team ensured everything went as planned and the assigned project manager was always available and in touch. The design phase allowed us to visit the showroom, see 3D designs and actual products to select from. JMC finished our complete kitchen remodel in September and we couldn't be more pleased. From selection of components to the final installation and painting, everything was totally professional. We hired JMC to renovate the outside of our building which houses my husband's dental practice, a delicatessen, and an apartment. This was a daunting task to us, but John and his staff handled it with ease and professionalism ,from the initial plans to the final cleanup, all well within the promised timelines and budget! I cannot say enough great things about JMC. From start to finish our project went smoothly and the finished product was everything we dreamed our kitchen would be -- and more! My experience with JMC was nothing short of phenomenal. Owner John MacDougall sold me on his thorough, process-oriented approach to design/build jobs like mine. The meticulously detailed project estimate JMC crafted ensured we were all on the same page and facilitated clear communication throughout the job. Their designer Tammy was spectacular, walking me through options for my bathroom remodeling and helping me select materials that ended up looking better than I even imagined. The entire team, from the office staff to the on-site crew, were professional, super-friendly, courteous, helpful and available every step of the way. They felt like close friends and they’re a funny bunch to boot. I am incredibly pleased with the final results and am continually receiving compliments from friends and family on how good it looks. The only snafu during the project was a small one. The wrong closet door was ordered and installed. After a simple phone call to Jack, their project manager, the error was corrected in a day or two, no questions asked. JMC estimated a 4-5 week project time and completed the work in 4.5 weeks, exactly on time. They made my life easier throughout the process and have also made it easier going forward: I know who I'm going to hire for future projects. JMC was for sure the most expensive vendor I obtained an estimate from, but their spectacular work proves the old axiom "you get what you pay for." These guys are the best, worth every penny. What a fantastic experience! We had a small eat-in kitchen and then a dining room and living room that were rarely used and very dark. We worked with John (owner) and Tammy (designer) to design a space that would be much more usable, not to mention bright and airy. We took down most of the walls on the first floor, opening up the entire space. The entire process, from start to finish, was easy and JMC was so professional! John and Tammy walked us through every of the design process so that nothing was missed. Everything needed for the project was picked out well before the start of construction… from appliances to cabinets and countertops to windows, tile, flooring and faucets. No detail was left untouched! Since everything was done in-house (engineers, designers, electricians, etc), we didn’t have to worry about one person talking to the other. They took care of everything and made sure everything was in order well before our project start date! And our project actually started three weeks early. This put us into a bit of a tailspin since we had to pack up everything and we were moving to a temporary apartment, but everything worked out to our advantage. Jack (Project Manager) and Rick (On-site Foreman) were amazing to work with. They didn’t miss a thing and were excellent at keeping us informed of the progress (even though we stopped by the house every day!). If we needed to make minor changes to the design, Rick rolled with it. Nothing every seemed to ruffle his feathers! The house was swept clean and supplies picked up every day. I often said during the early stage that I could eat off the floor after they were done each day! The guys were here all day every day… and it’s obvious they were working hard. The progress that was made each day was amazing! We never had to worry about them not showing up each day. We now have an absolutely beautiful new space that is the envy of all our friends and neighbors! And the project was completed 3-4 weeks ahead of schedule! How often does that happen?? Our first floor is open and the amount of light coming in makes it such an inviting space. It’s not a dark, uninviting space anymore! We would highly recommend using JMC for any remodeling projects… both small and large. They are very professional and the company works like a well-oiled machine. We wouldn’t hesitate to use them again!

JMC was the contractor for us. They helped us create and design a finished basement which has become the best room in our house. They took a space that was essentially unlivable and have made it into a great area for not only the kids but the parents as well. The professionalism of their company was unlike anything we have seen from a contractor in the past. From the first consultation to the last meeting it seemed as if our project was the most important to them. The workers they had on the project were responsible, reliable, neat and clean, and most importantly their craftsmanship was beyond reproach. Each person that entered our house had a copy of the plans, knew the project and there was never a gap in knowledge that caused a delay. They maintain such a meticulous eye for detail and perfectionism that the finished project came out above all of our expectations. One of the critical parts of the project was to create a new staircase to the basement, and it is amazing what a difference that created. People that have been in our house previously and see it for the first time are amazed at the transformation. JMC also provides guidance through the project. Providing updates and asking questions whenever a need arose. The project manager was on site at least once a day, conveying progress and alleviating any concerns that we might have had. The estimate that they provided at the beginning was absolutely accurate with respect to both time and money for the job. Actually they came UNDER the budget. We are beyond satisfied with their commitment, craftsmanship and professionalism. We won't do another project without them.

John (the owner) and Tammy (the designer) were fantastic to work with during the initial stages of our bathroom renovation. They walked us through the renovation process and provided their recommendations based on our needs and budget. I was very impressed with all the documentation, pictures and plans provided with the contract. Even Debbie (the receptionist) was always pleasant on the phone. Mike (the lead contractor) and Jack (the project manager) kept us informed every step of the way during the renovation. While few occurred, Mike discussed any unplanned changes with us in a timely manner. We easily worked together to resolve the issues with minimal stress to all. Mike was professional, timely and very detailed in performing high-quality work from beginning to end. A special thank you to Mike. We wanted the main parts of the renovation completed by a certain date. They not only met that date, but completed the project ahead of schedule without sacrificing any quality. They even resolved some minor issues months after the job was completed. We’re very happy with our new bathroom. I highly recommend them and would use them again. My apologies for the delay in posting this well-deserved review. Thank you for the stellar service to every member involved with our bathroom renovation at JMC.

We contracted with JMC to renovate our kitchen and bathroom. We made quite a few trips to JMC's offices towork with their designer, Tammy, who was always professional and knowledgableas she guided us through the many decisions necessary to complete these projects. All the other office people were just as courteous and helpful. The men who worked on our house were exceptional craftsmen who came to work every day and called each morning to let us know they were on their way. Although we had two disagreements, John runs a good company and is a good example to everyone who works at JMC. The two disagreements were: they put the wrong countertop in the kitchen, although it was partially my fault. We compromised and resolved the issue; and secondly, we had prefinished, oak, tongue and groove flooring installed in the kitchen. In a short time, the boards began to warp. I contacted JMC, they contacted the manufacturer who visited the site, and I was told that the cupping was within accepted tolerances (not to me) and that it would probably flatten out with 2 years. I'm not satisfied with the floor but I'm happy with everything else.

John and his team did an excellent job with the planning of and execution of the remodeling of our kitchen. During the planning phase, we met with Tammy who guided us in the layout and helped us pick out the cabinets, flooring and counter tops. During the construction phase, Mike the carpenter, was the person who basically rebuilt our kitchen. Mike is professional and put in a full day Mon thru Friday for the duration of the project, every day Mike would recap what he completed and, what he planned to work on the next day. Jack the foreman would stop by everyday to see how the project was progressing. The Kitchen is our new favorite room.

JMC was very professional and I was kept inform throughout the project. Most of the work was quite satisfactory, but the electrical work leaves a lot to be desired. For example the electric outlets were clearly not aligned horizontally along the back splash. Craftsmanship of the cabinets were questionable. Cabinets had some dings which were noticeable, but JMC had tried to have them replaced when we complained.

We just completed our first project with JMC and are thrilled with the results- The work was finished ahead of schedule and the quality of the workmanship is outstanding. It is rare to find any business that lives up to expectations- let alone one that exceeds them. We are so happy with the first job that we have already hired JMC for another project.

Every aspect of JMC’s remodel of our bathroom went as promised. Selecting tile and fixtures in the showroom was convenient, and John and Tammy provided tremendously helpful expertise throughout the design process. The demolition phase was impossibly neat—except for the plastic draped around the bathroom door and the stairway, there was no evidence that any work was being done in the house. Our kids made more of a mess than the demolition team. JMC provided daily updates throughout the remodel so we knew exactly what was going to happen each day. The end result is excellent, due in large part to Mario’s meticulous attention to detail. We plan to use JMC for our next remodeling project and we enthusiastically recommend them to anyone considering home improvement work.

In early February of this year we approached JMC about remodeling our kitchen. The project involved moving a load bearing wall out 8 feet as well as gutting the original vintage 1968 kitchen. We had previously remodeled 3 bathrooms with JMC and were familiar with the cost structure, their ability to complete projects on-time, their design capabilities and the quality of their work. We also knew from their previous work that they would be dependable, respectful of our home, professional, courteous, and qualified to do this big job. However as a price check we did consult with another company and found their estimates for this work to be very similar. Based on this we signed a contract in early February for the design stage of the work. What we had underestimated was how long the design phase would take. We had expected to be ready to go by May 1, and work actually didn’t start until late June. The delay was in part due to delays in getting the permits and simply the amount of work that we and JMC had to do. We worked with John and Tammy on the design. Jack headed the project. Actual work started on 6/15/2016 with work expected to take 10-12 weeks. One thing everyone needs to understand about a project like this is that there are many things out of the contractor’s control (inspection delays, weather, damage during delivery, wrong item shipped, etc.). However the contractor does have control of when people show up. What was impressive about JMC was that someone was on-site every day, except for 3 days when we were waiting for the cabinets to be delivered. Workers were on-site by 7:30 a.m. almost every day. It is worth noting that this was in spite of some health issues of one of the lead carpenters and required significant juggling on JMC’s part. As with any project of this magnitude unexpected “stuff” happens. The first was an error in the original drawing about the position of the support for the load bearing wall we were moving. This led to a narrower vaulted ceiling in the extension, and a repositioning of the dry bar going against one wall. Fortunately, we had decided not to put a skylight in the ceiling as there wasn’t room in the final design. This does point out however that JMC’s process for comparing the design drawing to the reality of the construction could use a check by the program manager earlier in the process. There were also some other issues we ran across, in particular some rotted plywood under the kitchen floor. In all cases these unexpected issues were addressed immediately and resolved to our satisfaction without delaying the project. As defined by the contract these issues are the owner’s responsibility which contributed to some of the price increase over the original estimate. That said, all of the cost overrun other than this issue was due to our making small upgrades during the build process. As an example, we chose tile for the back splash, and wood flooring which were more expensive than the allowance in the contract. Again this is an owner obligation and our choice. As a little bit of an aside, during the demolition, there was some small damage to the other side of kitchen walls. This is the contractor’s responsibility unless caused by something wrong with the building. As expected JMC was a pleasure to work with and they fixed these issues. Bottom line: The project was essentially finished by 9/15 and we had a working kitchen at that point. There were a number of punch list items which were completed after that time due to the cabinet manufacturer having to replace a custom shelf because the wood didn’t match the cabinets, and a couple of damaged cabinet doors. We would recommend JMC without reservation for any home project and especially any project as complicated as this one.

John and the entire JMC team are one of the most professional and meticulous contractors I have ever worked with and I would highly recommend them to anyone thinking about doing work to their house. From our initial meeting with John, I was given the impression he took great pride in his work, but once we met with the rest of the team, and saw how they worked, we understood it wasn't just John, but the entire organization. Tammy, JMC's designer, held our hand through the entire design process and made making decisions about the cabinets, flooring, counter tops, etc. a breeze. JMC handled all purchases and deliveries which meant no worrying on our end. Tammy also worked with us through the entire project, making sure we were happy with all our decisions and even showed up to our house to make adjustments halfway through the project after I had called her with a question. Once construction started, we were even more impressed. Jack, JMC’s foreman, was always available if something came up and he went above and beyond to make our kitchen perfect. Their carpenter, Henry, was there EVERY day (which is a shock in comparison to some contractors)! I cannot speak highly enough about Henry, who made sure our kitchen came out perfect. On day 1 Jack showed us a calendar of how the next 6 weeks of work would go, and working in commercial real estate, I thought that there was no way they would keep to that timeline. Amazingly they finished EXACTLY on schedule and I thank Henry, Jack, Tammy and Val (JMC’s painter) for that. Their professionalism, cleanliness, and attention to detail made the entire project as painless as a kitchen remodel can be. I am still in shock how our kitchen turned out and how amazing our experience was with JMC! If you are debating which contractor to use, choose JMC.

For me business is simple: People, Process and Product, in JMC’s case they nailed it (no pun intended). People – We really appreciated working with their entire crew. Everyone on site was polite, articulate, and quick to respond to any request. They did show a high concern for our comfort during the project. We especially enjoyed working with Tammy, George, Debbie, and of course John. Process – Starting right at the beginning when we interviewed each other to make sure we were a good fit to work together, a great thing to do. The design process with us describing to John and Tammy what we were looking for and them designing what we wanted. The patience and support as we changed up things during the design was process was appreciated. The contract and design document, I think the final one was approximately 30 pages, clearly laid out what they were going to do, and gave us a clear picture of what to expect. We agreed on a 6 week’s timeline, and their team completed all the heavy work in 5. The team was here every day, and we could see the progress each day. Product –2 components here 1) workmanship, 2) The actual products installed. The workmanship is all of the highest quality, small things like - that the crew determined the corbels were not the best look for our island and ordered new ones is much appreciated. The tile work both in the kitchen and master bathroom is really stunning. When I look at the kitchen floor, and realize every tile had to be cut, I am amazed. Everything installed, starting with the smallest items right thru the cabinetry, granite counter tops, new door, and garden window was all of the highest quality. So in summary, JMC delivered a superior experience. When we started we had our concerns, about disruption to our lives, and our pets. While the 5 weeks seemed long as we went thru them, we survived with only the normal disruptions and are glad we did the remodeling. I have told JMC they are free to use us as a reference.

I have utilized the services of JMC for two major projects and other home home repair jobs. These project included kitchens, baths, basements, painting and fireplaces. The projects involved gutting of kitchens bathrooms and a basement. JMC professionally evaluates the requirements and makes skillful and well thought out design suggestions. JMC provides detailed estimates for both parts and labor, JMC provides quality parts and allows the customer leeway with how are parts are utilized. JMC employs very competent and skilled professional employees. JMC holds to their estimates and will always detail the cost of any changes before implementing them. JMC updated our hall bath and completely renovated our master bath down to the studs. They did a great job, in a timely manner. The design help we received was invaluable. We loved that we were able to make all of our design choices at their office. The workers were all very professional and meticulous. The work area was completely cleaned up at the end of the day, down to dust mopping the floors. We love our bathrooms! Can't wait to renovate our kitchen with their help in the future.

I am absolutely thrilled with the total renovation/2 story addition that JMC did to my 1947 home. The house was taken down to the studs and then completely rebuilt in a more open concept design. I now have new ceilings, walls, 35 windows, all new doors including electric garage doors, all new hardwood floors, new roof, new furnace and HVAC for the 2nd floor, new recessed lighting throughout the house, a greatly expanded kitchen with state of the art appliances and 3 new gorgeous bathrooms. All this was done within 6 months and within budget. There were no surprises or mistakes. The few change orders were for additional work I chose to have done. Thanks and sincere appreciation to owner John MacDougall and his extremely talented and hardworking staff of Rick, George, Tammy, Jack, Jessie and Debbie and to all their very capable sub-contractors. What a delight the entire process was, with absolutely stunning results!

We had JMC remodel our master bathroom. They did a terrific job; we are very happy with the way it turned out and the entire experience working with their team. I highly recommend JMC to anyone who needs any kind of home improvement or remodeling work. We received several bids for the job. JMC did not come in with the lowest but despite this we choose them anyway. John MacDougall, the president of JMC took great care discussing the job with us, what we wanted and worked with us to come up with the best design. Tammy, the designer guided us in finding the right materials and colors for the bathroom. They then drew up very accurate plans so there was no question what we were getting. JMC also managed the permit process for us with the town. The job started on the day they said it would. The five week project was finished is six weeks, the delay in finishing was no fault of JMC. Mario did most of the work. He was great, very professional and meticulous. He called every day to let us know what time he would arrive- he was always on time. At the end of each day he cleaned up. If we ever need more work to be done in the future JMC will be the first and only one we will call.

This time around we had our powder room completely remodeled in our lake home, windows replaced in 3 of the bedrooms as well as wall paper removed, painting and staining done-all of the work was done-on budget & on time! Our home has a historic lake design so keeping the integrity of the look of the home while updating it was extremely important JMC not only met but exceeded our expectations! We will be using them again & we recommend you do the same!

I hired JMC to remodel our full bathroom on the 2nd floor of our house. From start to finish, they were nothing but complete professionals, every person that was sent to the house called first, kept everything as neat as possible ( I never had any major work done before and was worried about the mess that would be created.) The workers would have to walk through the house to get to the bathroom, and other than the plastic that was expertly laid down to keep the floors clean, it was like they weren't there at the end of the day. They completed the work in the time estimated and just followed up about a month ago to make sure everything still looked good. Special thanks to Mario! Would highly recommend!

I just had 2 bathrooms and my vanity area completely renovated by a company called JMC of Parsippany, NJ.The owner John,the office staff and the interior design team headed by Tammy were very helpful and professional with the planning stages. They had a good selection in their showroom and worked with my ideas. I can't say enough about Mike who spent about 2 months on the job using his expertise and craftsmanship.He showed pride in his work and listened to all of my concerns throughout the project adding his ideas as well which were much appreciated. JMC is very good at what they do. He has our entire main bath renovated. The only thing we had to buy was the lights over the sink they took care of everything else. They adapted to changes in scope that happened towards the middle to end of project. I would recommend JMC for a bathroom renovation.

From picking out the fixtures at their showroom to the end result, it was a smooth process. The workers are professional, courteous, show up timely and regularly and clean up at the end of each day. JMC removed a load bearing wall between the living room and family room to make one, larger room. The project was more involved and technical than we originally had thought when my wife and I conceived the idea. For example, it involved pouring new footers in the basement to support the new beam holding up the second floor bedrooms. The bigger the job, the more opportunity for problems. It was evident JMC had done this work before as they handled any minor issues we had quickly and professionally, communicating with us throughout the entire process. That was important to us as it kept any stress to the bare minimum. JMC also did the finish work to the new room and it came out beautifully. I have a lot of confidence in the their workmanship and the soundness/stability of the new room. The upstairs bedrooms show no evidence of the trauma that took place below taking out the supporting wall. No cracks in ceiling, walls or joints. That's proof to me of JMC's expertise and thoughtful approach to their work.

JMC is now in the middle of their fourth renovations for me. I trust them to do the work professionally and expertly. They are always reliable and approachable. If I shoukd ever have a concern, it is quickly addressed. The entire team is polite and accomodating and they clean up at the end of the day. I have no reservation s in recommending tgem for any contracting needs.

We originally met with John in June where he payed out his plan and philosophy. Although JMC is more expensive than most, they were well worth it. They actually did wha they said they would do which is rare. Their crew was excellent, their workmanship was excellent and their follow up was excellent . I would highly recommend JMC.

We did a complete, down to the studs, renovation of our 20 year old master bathroom. JMC did an excellent job translating our vision of the perfect bathroom into reality. I still can't believe this fabulous bathroom is ours. At each step in the process, John and his team of dedicated professionals made sure our expectations were being met down to the smallest detail. On a job as extensive as ours, there are always going to be modifications along the way and in each case adjustments were quickly resolved to our satisfaction. We couldn't be more pleased.

Two bathrooms-main bathroom (tub/shower) and the master bedroom (shower) were re-modelled. Walls, floors, cabinets and existing tubs/toilets were replaced. Beside replacing fixtures and tiling new vents/lights were added to the tib/shower area in the main bedroom and the shower area in the master bedroom with vents to the outside via the attic roof..

My Wife and I decided that it was time to remodel our master bathroom. We met with several contractors and in the end decided that JMC was the right company for the job. The job took about 3 months from start to finish. During the whole process, the JMC team, especially Greg, who was the onsite improvement specialists, was very professional, courteous and provided updates every step of the way. We have worked with several contractors in the past. One factor that sets JMC apart from the rest is that the owner John MacDougall truly cares about the client experience. After all the work was completed, John made a point to come and do a final walk through of our bathroom and make sure we were a 100% satisfied with the work that was completed. Finding a home improvement contractor to do work in your home is not an easy task. It's important to find a company that you can trust, one that you think will meet or exceed your expectations and one that takes pride in providing quality service at reasonable prices. Right from the beginning, I knew that JMC was the right choice for two of my bathroom remodeling projects. What set JMC apart from some of the other contractors I initially met with was JMC's attention to detail as well as its "one-stop-shop" mindset and process. Instead of having to go to numerous stores and vendors to find exactly what I wanted, I just had to take a trip to JMC's showroom and make my selections from a wide variety of selections and price ranges. Not only did this make it easy to stay within budget, it made it completely hassle-free. And, most importantly, no dealing with subcontractors. Once my selections were finalized (I have to admit, I changed my mind a few times on the kind and size of tile I wanted in one of the bathrooms!), JMC provided a start date, ordered all of the materials, developed both new and existing plans, submitted the necessary paperwork for permits, and even arranged appointments with the required inspectors (building, plumbing, electrical) on my behalf. Because I was remodeling two bathrooms and wanted them completed one after the other (with no lag time in between), I knew that members of the JMC team would be working in my home for the two months it would take to complete both projects. Not only is the staff of JMC knowledgeable and efficient, they are skilled in their craft. Everyone is professional, friendly, conscientious and reliable. I received a call each morning confirming JMC's arrival time, along with what would be occurring that day, and never had to worry about someone not showing up. JMC also paid attention to detail and did a lot of prep work getting my home ready for construction (plastic, tarps, a designated work area in the garage) which led to minimal disruption and an easy clean up. Now that both bathrooms are complete, I just had to write this review to let others know that JMC not only exceeded my expectations but it is a company, with a dedicated team, that excels at customer service. If you are looking for a professional and reputable home remodeling firm, look no further. I highly recommend JMC and will be using them for any/all future remodeling projects.

Phase 2 of our project done by JMC is complete and we are very satisfied with the results this time as well. The improvements included: upgraded insulation under both a cantilevered kitchen area and living space above the garage, a new roof and roof vents, existing hardwood floor refinishing, laying of engineered hardwood flooring, removing a raised hearth and converting a wood burning fireplace to a gas fireplace and the accompanying paint and finish work. Having fewer decisions to make, the work began within a month of signing the contract and was completed within the original 6 week time line. The returning team repeated their commitent to excellence in communication, problem solving and finish work. JMC staff were on site to supervise the subcontractors needed to complete our job and worked hard to assure that their work lived up to the JMC standards - to meet our expectations once again. As an example, the installer of our fireplace screen complimented our fireplace and I was pleased to tell him that a JMC craftsman worked with us on site in creating the tile and mantle placement to complement the rather tall opening. The only part of our house they have yet to improve beginning in October 2014 is our basement - and when we decide to address that, we know who we will call.

The best move we made was to hire JMC. A major kitchen remodeling is a time consuming process with many decisions to make. JMC simplified the process for us and provided a one-stop experience. Quality is the biggest thing you get from JMC, and they far exceeded my expectations. The JMC carpenters gave us a beautiful kitchen with custom trim work, and lots of care and attention to detail. The JMC guys respected our home and tried their best to minimize the dust and disturbance that comes with a complete redo of a kitchen. Plus, we knew exactly what the cost of this project would be before it started. There were no unexpected costs. Finally, and maybe most importantly, JMC stood by their work and fixed the little defects and touchups that were needed at the end of the work. The didn't just disappear when the work was done. When a cabinet came with a scratch out of the box JMC replaced it. When we had cabinet doors hitting each other they fixed them I'm more than satisfied with JMC and would recommend them to anyone.

JMC remodeled my kitchen and two bathrooms. John MacDougall and his team at JMC get an A+ in my grade book. There are two things that really set them apart from other builders and remodelers that I have worked with or heard tales of (usually horror tales when it comes to contractors). John has a process that he follows from his first meeting through to the follow-up meeting when the job is complete. This process puts in writing everything the customer can expect from permit submission, plans, site preparation, demolition, construction, plumbing, electrical, commonly asked questions, etc. through to the customer care package that you receive in the mail following the job. The second thing that set them apart was the crew that they employ. Every team member that worked in my home was friendly, tidy and very skilled at their job especially Gyula, Tammy (design and troubleshooting), Barbie and the project manager, Jack. All my questions were answered promptly and the work exceeded my expectations. I received a call every morning to let me know what time they would arrive and I was perfectly comfortable leaving them in my home on days that I was not able to be there. I would have no hesitation to work with them on my next project and I have already recommended them to friends.

Each JMC staff member was knowedgeable, professional, respectful and personable from the first meeting through the final walk through. Our list was extensive: new windows, doors, deck and painting and repairs on the exterior; gutting and moving walls to update bathrooms and closet space; and gutting the kitchen and powder room. Both the time frame and budget were as projected and communication with the company was great. Their craftspeople went above and beyond our expectations: in one bathroom, they created a flat door panel attached with magnets to cover a crawl space entry to allow a picture to hang over it easily. The former family bath tub is now the walk in shower of our dreams. We lived in our home during the entire 3 month process and construction was staged to provide us with the least amount of disruption possible. They cared about us daily throughout the process and we have already contacted them about continuing with our family room level. We would trust our home to no one else with this level of confidence.

We recently hired JMC to remodel our master bathroom and were completely satisfied with the quality of work, ease of making adjustments, keeping the work space clean, and overall customer service. We would highly recommend them and will use them for future projects.

Over the past two years, JMC has renovated our kitchen, 3 bathrooms, and our master bedroom. We are 100 percent satisfied with the work they did for us. JMC is simply the best! All of their workers are highly skilled and professional. They were willing to spend a great deal of time helping us to translate our concepts into actual designs. I remember in our master bathroom we wanted a somewhat intricate design using travertine tile. The JMC worker spent well over an hour patiently laying out the tile in different patterns until we found what we wanted. Another example of the type of attention they give their customers was the design of the pocket doors and bi-fold doors we wanted in our master bedroom. The doors consisted of a wood frame with glass panels. I remember the owner of JMC, John McDougall spending a great deal of time researching the different types of glass we could use in the doors. After gathering several glass samples he came to our home after hours to show us the samples and help us in making our final selection. The final product is absolutely beautiful. Another memory is the careful manner in which all of the work was conducted. There was never any rush to finish. Further, everyday the work site was carefully cleaned. Finally, I would like to say that JMC is run by truly honest people. Everything they said they would do was done and done properly. There were only minor delays in completing our projects. 00Any homeowner would be lucky to have them renovate their home. .

Completely new kitchen, new ceilings in living room, hall and bedroom. Painted living room, hall and bedroom. It was a pleasure working with JMC! Having your kitchen totally remodeled from the ground up in general is never a fun thing to live through however these guys made it as painless as possible. We knew what was happening every day with a morning phone call, telling us who would be here that day and what would be happening. There was no guessing or chasing people around for status. At the end of day, I'd return from work to find the house and jobsite safe and clean. They also completed the whole job within a month, a day didn't go by when someone wasn't here. No one disappeared to finish a job somewhere else, we were made to feel our job was their priority. The entire staff from 1st contact to our final meeting are top notch professionals with a focus on making the customer happy. In addition to being focused on customer service, they also perform top notch quality work. The house looks beautiful! My family couldn't be happier. We plan on doing a remodel of our basement next year and one thing I don't have to worry about is who will be doing the work, JMC will be.

This project included complete vinyl residing w/ gutters (including additional foam insulation, wrap and insulated vinyl) and replace existing windows (not inserts). We had used JMC in the past for two other projects. The professionalism and quality of work is why they returned and I am completely satisfied. We thoroughly walk through the plan up front and agree on details and timing. This company shows up consistently, the workers are respectful, offer opinions and are very helpful. JMC remodled my kitchen 8 years ago. To this day, every morning when I get up and walk into my kitchen, I smile because I still love it so much and the absolutely perfect job that JMC did. My house is a very old house so whenever there is work to be done it always seems like it should be a simple job. It is never that way because of old codes and the house settlling etc. It didn't bother JMC one bit. Any time we ran into a roadblock, they all got together, talked it out, and worked it out. End result -- a smile on my face every morning. We just contracted JMC again to gut our entire living room and dining room to combine into one room. This is no small feat. John and his team have no problem tackling the job. In fact, they are all welcoming the challenge and they are excited to get into it.

We hired JMC to do a gut-reno of our kitchen, and could not be happier with their customer service and craftsmanship. JMC worked with us at every step of the process, making suggestions along the way but taking our input as well. Our point of contact called us each morning to let us know when the workers would arrive, and what they would be doing that day. They arrived on time and were friendly and helpful. They left the work site perfectly clean, and we had minimal dust in the rest of the house (a feat considering that they had to remove all of the drywall and install/finish hardwood flooring). The JMC staff were always available to answer questions and provide advice. They were perfectionists, and proactively fixed issues without us having to point them out. JMC completed our kitchen on time and on budget, with no surprises along the way. The end result is beautiful and solid. We know we will enjoy it for years to come. JMC has done both major and minor projects in our home: A new kitchen, a greenhouse/sunroom, a bathroom as well as minor repairs. In addition to the quality of the work being superlative and the work crews being both talented and respectful, JMC stands behind the work to a degree that is unheard of in the industry. We had a major problem with a floor in the greenhouse/sunroom ten years after it was built. (As a working greenhouse the floor was always wet, and this led to a problem.) The owner of JMC came, assessed the problem and said, "We'll fix it, this should not have happened." We have recommended them to friends who have all been happy with the work as well.

We had several meetings the JMC team: John, Jack the project manager and Tammy the kitchen designer before we were ready for work to begin on our project. Our project included total renovation of our kitchen, moving a powder room and adding a shower, creating a mudroom, relocating the laundry to it's own dedicated space and creating an open concept in our 1980's home. We didn't want an add an addition onto to home; we wanted to use the existing space. The time we spent with JMC was time well spent as we refined the plan and our ideas were incorporated. What impressed us was the willingness to listen and really understand what we wanted to achieve. We also liked the concept of having our project designed and then reviewed by an architect. The team also included the lead carpenter who was onsite at all times during our project. His expertise helped move the project along and kept little problems from becoming big problems. No detail was too small: there was one small wall between our kitchen cabinets and a dry bar that could have just been left with no attention paid to it. John realized that this small wall was going to face our entry and wanted some detail to tie it into the cabinetry. George the lead carpenter dressed this wall with moulding to mimic our cabinetry. It looks like it was meant to be there. We could not be happier with the results. If we decide to do additional work on our home we will without hesitation call JMC.

Last year JMC remodeled our bathroom and we were so pleased with the work we hired JMC again to remolded our other bathroom. The same high standards were maintained for the work. The workers were courteous, knowledgeable, came to work each day as scheduled and left a clean work area at the end of the day.

Can't say enough great things about JMC. From the very first meeting with John until the completion of our renovation, JMC was superb. Everyone - office staff, design team, skilled workers, electricians, craftsmen -was courteous and professional. Tom, our project manager, was on top of every detail and made living through a 2-storey 4-month renovation extremely easy. Our new kitchen, bar area, fireplace, outdoor grilling area, master bath, new hallway configuration and railing, finished basement (w/full bath and wine room) are all beautiful and will be enjoyed for a very long time.

I hired JMC to do a main bath remodeling which included gutting to studs, leaving subfloor and removing insulation from outside wall and ceiling. Included were new floor and bath tub tile, new vanity and granite top, new tub, sinks and all new fixtures, including, and piping and removal and frameout of soffit.

My experience with JMC was entirely positive. Every person I dealt with was competent and respectful. The work was done well. Any small issues were addressed in a timely manner. I was promised I could use this kitchen before Christmas. 3 weeks of work and I was able to do so. A few small things were corrected afterwards. I will use JMC again when I do the bathroom.

I hired JMC to build a master suite over my 2 car garage. It was hard at the beginning for me to envision the process but JMC made it extremely easy, pleasant and provided me with detailed plans along the way showing how everything would be done. They did a superb job and I could not be happier with them. They were reliable, friendly, neat and used quality materials. At the end, they exceeded my expectations.

We were very pleased with the work performed. Everyone was very professional and the job was completed earlier than anticipated. As with any project there were bumps along the road, but John and his staff were very accommodating and worked with us to remedy any problems to our satisfaction. One thing that was extremely helpful and made the project less stressful was "one stop shopping". We were able to pick out cabinets, countertops, tile, sink, faucets, etc all in JMC's studio with the help of Tammy. She helped coordinate colors, style etc. It made things so much easier. She was terrific. The workers were very nice to deal with and were also very accommodating. Jack , the project manager was always on top of things to make sure things were going as planned. I love the way my kitchen came out. It is beautiful. I would definitely use JMC for my next project.

We've used JMC for several projects and have been pleased with all of them. Whether indoors or outdoors, simple or custom, the finished work has always met our requirements. In a 50-year old house, we've asked for some fairly odd renovations, too. For example, we needed a door flipped (1) to open in the opposite direction, (2) be weather sealed on all four edges, and (3) reuse all the existing woodwork. This presented about 18 different problems. It took some thinking, but their end result was exactly what we wanted. We will be hiring them again in the future.

I started using JMC to remodel a bathroom over 20 years ago. Before the this job was completed, I asked them to do another bathroom. Since then they have replaced the windows in my home, designed and remodeled an office, a laudry room, built a glass door built - in in my living room, added ceiling moldings and chair rails, and designed and built a dream garden. Workmen were always polite, workmanship was excellent, and it was a pleasure to work with John MacDougall and his crew.

JMC has done 2 projects for us. The first a relatively simple reno in our kid's bathroom. New tub, toilet, vanity and twin vessel sinks replaced out dated ones. All old tile was removed and replaced and in addition, a heated floor system was installed. The guys did a great job and easily handled all the "surprises" that popped up. Our master bath was done the following year and was totally gutted to the joists and studs. We moved every fixture to a different location in the room and JMC was up to the task of moving all the plumbing with very little, if any, collateral damage. A 4 foot by 8 foot spa shower was created that uses a complicated Kohhler electronic flow control system. It worked flawlessly the first time. A designer Kohler soaking tub was installed along with a new toilet. Separate his and her vanities were put in as well as new lighting and, of course, floor heating. A bigger casement window replaced the old window. This required a wider header to be installed to support the roof. This was accomplished without removing or disturbing the exterior cedar siding. When done, it was impossible to tell that window was not "original equipment". Inside the guys sheetrocked and put up cement board as needed. All new porcelain and glass tile that works perfectly with the granite and glass shower surround was painstakingly installed. I say painstakingly since the tile guys laid out all the 20 inch by 20 inch floor tiles and then all the 13 inch by 13 inch wall tiles on my bedroom floor and moved and turned every random patterned tile until they created an image that appeared to flow from each tile to the surrounding ones. I was very impressed. Then after a paint job we were good to go. There were no surprises with the work. The guys came when scheduled and worked hard to make everything perfect. We are just about to start another project wit JMC in our great room. We expect this job to be just as much fun as the others.

I highly recommend JMC! They recently completed our kitchen remodel, and we are so happy with the results! It was our first big remodeling project, and I was nervous about hiring a contractor as I’d heard so many horror stories. But John MacDougall and his fantastic team made everything so easy. Tammy’s design is beautiful and fits our needs perfectly, and Jack kept the project running smoothly, finishing on time and on budget. The entire team clearly communicated every step so that we knew what to expect, which took a lot of the anxiety out of a major renovation project! JMC does GREAT work and is completely trustworthy. I have hired them on four separate occasions to essentially renovate my house from top to bottom over a few years. They have: 1. Renovated the entire first floor of my house (gutted and rebuilt gourmet kitchen, redid foyer and entrance, upgraded powder room, knock out walls between rooms, retiled everywhere, etc,) 2. Upgraded all bathrooms throughout the house (including gutting and rebuilding master bath to add a massive rain shower and sauna) 3. Added a new bathroom in the basement play room 4. Changed all garage doors. John and his team built upon our ideas and made creative suggestions for things we would never thought of (including finding a way to create the space to add the sauna in the master bath). They are always on budget and on time. In fact, we turned the house over to them when we were away on vacation to come back to new kitchens and bathrooms. Everything was in place as they should be. I am a loyal repeat client and will continue to use them.

Our 1st experience with JMC was in October 1998 (master bathroom complete remodel). Since then we have hired JMC on several occasions (guest bathroom remodel, complete deck replacement, under deck carport excavation and retaining walls, installation of whole house surge protector, windows, doors, lighting, basement air flow system, and various repairs including plumbing, electrical, etc.). Our most recent significant project was a basement renovation to create an awesome "Man Cave". John offers cost saving suggestions and ideas to improve the finished product. He has always completed the jobs in a timely manner and within the pre-agreed budget. We have used JMC on virtually every project with one exception. We hired another contractor to renovate our family room because his price was so low. We got what we paid for and eventually hired JMC to fix the mistakes and shortcomings (we won't make that mistake again). The reason we keep coming back to JMC is that they do a great job and have earned our trust. Every one of their staff, that we have had the pleasure of working on our projects, has been professional, courteous, and efficient. When we have a project that falls outside the scope of services JMC provides, we rely on John for suggested contractors (paving, gutter, etc.) because of the trust that develops after so many positive experiences. We have also recommended JMC to our friends and neighbors. We wholeheartedly recommend JMC without reservation for any project large or small and will continue to use their services whenever we have a project to complete.

- JMC was hired to update our main bath. - They took my documents and their view of the job and created a comprehensive plan to accomplish our objectives. - The job included gutting the space, bringing everything to code, installing a new vanity - tub - toilet, sheet rock, and painting. - A change order system is in place to detail and get approval for unforeseen problems and/or client requests. (Unlike a previous contractor who did a job and then surprised us with add-ons.) - One man (Greg) did the entire job and has the skills required to do a super job with tile setting, carpentry, sheet rock, fixture installing, etc. - Everyone at JMC was helpful, answered all our questions and were very professional in their positions.

JMC remodeled my bathroom and they did an outstanding job. right from the get-go, they were efficient and looking to "go the extra mile". on the first day, one of the managers came by to make sure every proper step was followed, even making sure the hallway carpet was covered to protect it. the workers completed the job in a very timely manner and it looked fabulous. they even checked back later to make sure everything was ok. over the years I have also had them do other repairs around the house. they are the ONLY contractor I trust completely and absolutely.

Our main bathroom shower was leaking into the kitchen below & needed to be completely gutted & the damage repaired. We had found JMC after seeing their high grades on Angie's List and had them in for a consultation. We had never used a contractor before, so needless to say, we were nervous. John was accommodating, knowledgeable, professional & worked with us to get the cost within our budget. They got the work done within the timeline given...the shower looks & runs like a dream. We were so pleased with the work, we decided to use them for a complete kitchen remodel. Our former kitchen was cramped, dark & dated. We decided to try for a semi open floorplan by removing most of the wall between the kitchen and our formal dining room. John's staff worked with us again on every aspect of the design process, were more than helpful when we had questions or changes, and kept us updated every step of the way. If we hand any concerns, JMC responded to them immediately. They went above & beyond to make sure we loved our kitchen & that the layout was functional yet beautiful. Now that the kitchen is complete, I still cannot believe it's ours. It's above & beyond our expectations and I truly can't say enough about how happy we are with the work they did. We needed to upgrade and modernize our kitchen which included taking down a wall connecting to our den. JMC provided a soup to nuts solution. At every step of the way JMC was helpful and professional. The final work product was beyond our expectations. JMC laid out a six week schedule, with benchmarks to be met. Even with some unforeseen issues with demolition and township inspections, the work was completed ON TIME. With all the contractors to choose from, this is a company that can certainly be trusted.

JMC provided a great service to us by completely designing and finished our basement which was previously an empty void. They also constructed a 24 x 24 raised deck and finished it to a high standard. Any other construction work that we needed on the house was completed by JMC efficiently, on time and to an excellent standard.

John McDougal came to our house and gave us a presentation of their service and what would take place during the renovation. A week later a very professional work proposal came in the mail. We were pleased with the estimate and requested the work to be done. A staff of workers showed up on the scheduled date and every day for three weeks turning the bathroom from an eyesore into an attractive room. All the workers were polite, pleasant and skilled at their respective jobs. Each day they cleaned up and advised us of the next stage and who would be coming. We had a great experience with JMC Home Improvement and we recommend them highly.

JMC completely renovated a bath in our 1945 home. The old bathtub was removed and replaced with a tiled shower. The work was very nicely done. All of the workers were very courteous and highly skilled. The office staff was great - excellent communication made for a stress free renovation.

I have had many home improvements done by JMC...they are by far the most conciscience, neat and professional home improvement company that I have had the pleasure in dealing with. Received a call from the owner during the process more that once asking if everything was going according to plan and were the workers neat and respectful, never had service like that before. The quotes were accurate and at any time if there were any issues to deal with they were dealt with in a timely manner and agreeded upon by all parties. We've had 3 major projects completed by Jmc: finished basement, installed patio and exterior of the house painted. Each project was done with professionalism and in a timely manner. The staff was always willing to answer questions and if problems arose, which always happens with large renovations, they were solved very quickly. We highly recommend this company.

Over the years JMC has completed several projects in my house: 2 bathroom remodels, dividing a living room into 2 spaces, and a family room remodel. All projects were completed on time and with excellent attention to detail. The work crews were professional and NEAT! Cleanup was done at the end of every day. John followed up after each job to make sure everything was satisfactory, and if there was ANYTHING questionable, it was quickly addressed.

JMC has done several projects for me including a large addition to my home. During the process his team saw an error in the plans by the architect. They stopped work until the error could be corrected and the job would meet building codes. All the workers who were in our home, were courteous and respectful of our property. They cleaned up after each day and made sure all work areas were safe. I will be using them again.

JMC remodeling has completed two projects for our home in the past year. The first was a basic bathroom update which was a complete success. The space was remodeled in a matter of weeks. A few months later our home was badly damaged in a storm and we called JMC first. This professional team prioritized the job and came up with a creative plan to not only repair but improve the home design. I was astonished at how fast they worked through some terrible weather and structural challenges uncovered. The project was completed on time and on budget. JMC has done many projects for us -- our home was built in the 1920's and needed many updates --once we found JMC they became our "go to" contractor. They have done large, and small, jobs for us -- including a master bath renovation, kitchen renovation, resetting original leaded glass windows etc. The quality of their work is consistently excellent. George is a craftsman par excellence. Tammy is patient and helpful in reviewing material samples in the showroom. John is very honest, has patiently worked with us to figure out some tricky design issues and keeps everything moving along. It is simply a pleasure to work with them and honestly how often do you hear that said about a contractor? When you ask for references, they don't just give you 2 or 3 names, they give you pages of names and say feel free to call any of them.

We had 2 separate, extensive additions added to our house. Both were done by JMC. The first was a Great Room off the kitchen with a full basement underneath. It was probably ten years later that we had a Master Bedroom, Master Bath, and Laundry Room constructed over the garage. The work was neat, professional, and timely. Both projects included several rather large steel I-beams that were installed with no problems whatsoever. JMC worked very well with our architect and followed his plans as specified. No problems were ever encountered. They completed both projects on time and within the budget.

JMC renovated the ceilings in my living room and bedroom, installed ceiling fans, arranged to have my wood floors resurfaced, added sheet rock and molding to my bedroom walls, and painted the living room and bedroom. They're services were professional and personal; attending to all my questions and providing expert advise. They would call before arriving and took full responsibility for all clean-up. Their flexibility and willingness to accommodate any changes from the original plans reflected their commitment to provide the best services for their client. I will be using them this summer when I renovate my basement.

I can not praise JMC enough for their dedication to their craft and professionalism. They truly dispell all of the bad hype that contracters receive. Let me say, I have not one bad thing to say about the services they provided or their employees. JMC completely renovated our kitchen and dining room. We took down walls and gutted both. Upon consultation, they provided me with a detailed calendar to outline what they would be doing in my house, when they would be arriving, and when they would be complete. They followed that calendar completed AND completed the job early. They did all of this even with the delay of Hurricane Sandy. IMPRESSIVE! Additionally, their communication skills are extremely commendable. Every time you call JMC you speak to the person you are looking for or receive an extremely prompt reply phone call. Our project coordinater when as far as providing us with his cell phone number and ALWAYS picked up my calls. Truly, you can not go wrong with using JMC for your home improvement needs. They are first class, professional, and above all, fantastic at their craft.

JMC performed multiple projects in my house, starting with the bathroom, then the kitchen, then the family room/foyer, then siding/entrance way on the outside. I was very happy with the work and the outcome of all the projects. Everyone who visits can't believe the detail and design. The workers we're conciencious and met the project timeline. We have had great experiences working with JMC on several projects in our home. They remodeled a kitchen, two bathrooms and designed a built an addition. All of these projects were done professionally, completed on time and with great attention to detail. I needed to have bathroom floor tiles replaced, a new ceiling put in another bath, as well as, having wallpaper removed, the room painted, a new exhaust fan and new shower door installed. Once again they did not disappoint. All the individuals that came to the house were very pleasant, knowledgeable, and extremely neat and clean. They called every morning to let me know when they were coming and how long things would take to complete. The whole process was done in the timeframe originally given and at the cost originally quoted. I would highly recommend JMC.

We found JMC both professional and helpful. They provided the guidance that I needed to finish our master bath renovation. Tammy, Bobby and the rest of the staff were always available for our questions and easy to work with. This was our second project with JMC, the first being the replacement of all our windows and we would definitely use them again.

I had JMC replace several windows in my old house. I also asked them to do several minor things that were related. John came out, measured, explained the job in detail and I told him of the additional work. He had given me an estimate already based on my phone explanation. He called later that week with a date asking me if they could start then informing me who was going to work on the job and how long it would take. The bottom line is that the time estimate was right on and the estimate WAS LESS THAN WAS QUOTED! And everything was so clean too. I'm so happy!!! Also they did major landscaping of both the front and the back. They educated about all the plants. This was clearly a labor of love.

While constructing a finished room wihtin our large, unfinished basement, JMC impressed us in the following ways: demonstrated high-quality technical skill provided accurate and detailed estimates of time and costs advised and educated us on how to achieve outcomes in a cost-effective manner. JMC work staff was punctual and tidy. The finishing of three small, basement windows was handled in a creative way that maximized the light entering the space. The administrative staff was organized, communicative and always followed up on any issues discussed. The outcome of our small project is excellent, and the experience of the home improvement was smooth and reassuring. .

JMC took the design objectives and translated them into specifications an architect could work with. Entire team of both crafts people and support staff were of the caliber that you would hire yourself if you were doing the job. Team was responsive to questions or comments regarding various phases. They worked well together and kept me informed of upcoming activities.

We used JMC to renovate our guest and master baths, and we couldn't be more pleased with the entire process - from design to implementation to finished product. The whole JMC team is a pleasure to work with. They keep you informed every step of the way and make sure you get what you envisioned.

I had my basement remodeled by JMC a few years ago. They were so professional and helped me through the process from beginning to end. They had great ideas and we even added a bathroom with a shower in the basement and that has been wonderful. The office and the JMC crew were all so polite and helpful. For almost 15 years, John and the folks at JMC have handled all my home improvement work. It started with a bathroom renovation in February 2000, with what was probably the unusual request to preserve the original tub. Since then, JMC has redesigned and installed new gutter systems, put in a whole-house air conditioner, and replaced all of my aging casements with new Pella windows. They’ve also done mixed-bag, handyman-style projects and taken care of emergency situations, like digging up and replacing a broken water line. I’ve always been completely satisfied, as have the friends I’ve referred to JMC. As a techie myself, I also appreciate the way John leverages technology to oversee the work and maintain his own quality standards. Whenever someone asks me about the homestead, I say “Listen, I’ve got a guy…” Note that the project date I'm using here marks the start of my relationship with JMC, and the cost is the approximate total cost over the years.

I cannot say enough good things about John and his crew. Before work even started he presented me with a questionaire asking about when we leave for wrok, what time do we get up, where should he park - all questions to be sure that he did not interfere with our lifestyle and living arrangements in any way. When they did start they called every morning to let us know if they were coming or not, as the work was both inside and outside my house there were days due to weather that they could not be there. He also called to notify me of the status of the work and discuss any issues that came up. The crew was incredibly neat and when tehy left each day there was no dust or dirt or anything around. Every day before they left they wrapped my house in tarps to prevent any rain or "elements" from entering the house while they were gone. The quality of teh finished product is nothing short of phenomenal. I strongly recommend them.

I've had the pleasure of working with John MacDougall and JMC twice. The first project was a major, bare-studs renovation of our basement/lower level, focusing on the family and media room. This included replacement of a sliding door and a window, removal and bricking up of two other double-hung windows, insulation and drywall, electrical updates and media cable draws, installation of engineered hardwood flooring on the lower level, build out of ~30 feet of custom shelving plus a custom floor cabinet, replacement of the stairway leading up to the main level, and painting of the entire finished space both downstairs and up. JMC's work crew was exceptionally courteous, and did an excellent job of minimizing any disruption during the demolition phase, including curtaining off the affected areas and cleaning up the job site every evening before leaving. When an unexpected challenge arose with installation of the engineered flooring, JMC worked with me to help find the most cost effective and permanent solution. Despite the interruption of Hurricane Sandy, the crew completed the work on schedule and within the agreed upon budget estimate. From consultation through design, contract, and implementation, I am extremely pleased with how JMC was able to work with me to turn my vision into reality. Their craftsmanship and commitment to delivering a quality result, especially in the cabinetwork and finishes, was simply outstanding. What had become essentially a storage area is now a warm, inviting and enjoyable space for both entertaining and just relaxing. We could not be more pleased! Because of this experience, we contracted with JMC a second time in April of 2013, this time to install a total of 12 custom replacement windows. As before, the work was completed as scheduled, in a very efficient and effective manner, and with no interior mess or repairs required. Once again, we are very happy with the results!

JMC is a full service contracting company. They work with the home owner to design and construct a beautiful space that fits within in the budget constraints. Their creativity matched with their craftsmanship is what sets them apart from other companies. My basement renovation has given my family many years of enjoyment. My children have used the basement through every stage of development and it has tremendously enhanced the value of our house.

JMC rebuilt our garage after it was crushed by a tree in hurricane Sandy. John and his crew did an exceptional job. The build was well done. they were flexible with little changes and additions. They did everything we asked and was in the original specification. and they were a pleasure to work with. Overall, we are very happy and can't say enough about their good work.

John and his project manager, Bobby were extremely professional and helpful through both projects that they were contracted to perform. One was to completely remodel a master bathroom and the other project involved repair to a pool house destroyed by Hurrricane Sandy. John gave us a very comprehensive, step-by step list of what would be done and when it would be done by. They stuck to the schedule and stayed in budget. Their workmen called every morning before they came and always showed up on time. They cleaned up every day- never leaving a mess or tracking things through the rest of the house. JMC did a complete kitchen and laundry room gut renovation with demolition of the wall separating our kitchen from the rest of the house. We replaced everything, including a completely new layout, cabinets, wood flooring and appliances. As always, JMC workers were excellent craftsmen, on time, careful and wonderful to work with. They were very patient with us during the renovations and responded to every request. We think the result looks outstanding and have confidence from prior experience that JMC stands behind its work without reservation.

JMC did a complete remodel and add a level making a ranch into a 2 story colonial. From design to build, beginning to end, JMC was professional and courteous. Installing granite countertops in the galley-sized kitchen of a 90 year old home required ingenuity and creativity. Their craftsmen and craftswoman were skilled in their work and professional in their demeanor. Sensitive to the homeowners' interests, JMC responded to our questions and concerns and adapted the work when necessary to accommodate our requests. Not having a kitchen can be a painful inconvenience, but JMC worked expediently as well as professionally to minimize the inconvenience and maximize the results. .

JMC put an addition to our home. The job was competitively priced, and the service and quality were outstanding. JMC has performed small jobs and major additions with the same excellent results. In two instances, one where our roof was leaking and another where the warehouse in our business was flooded, JMC was there on a moments notice, even on a holiday. I can't say enough nice nice thigs about John , the staff, and the work.

I just hired them for at least the third time over the past few years. They've put in a new kitchen, bathroom, front door, fixed landscaping drainage problems, replaced basement wall, window, lights. Their work is always fabulous. Professional, creative, careful, friendly, neat, reliable. They have a designer and a show room so there's no need to travel from place to place.
