Pacific Home Source review 1.20.2025 I have never had a home built from scratch. My home construction experience was remodeling and a 13-year career as a kitchen designer. I spent three years developing a floor plan for my future home in Port Orchard, WA. I tried four different floor plans and eventually selected one that fit my needs. I was both relieved and excited to have arrived with a plan I really liked. Most people can’t do this initial step, and it adds up to more cost. This approach cuts the awkward initial discovery process for a house designer to find out what a client wants. My contractor arranged a meeting with the Gabe Spruel, the principal of Pacific Home Source, to meet and see if we could work together. I was impressed with the meeting. Gabe made several suggestions and offered me far more resources than I had anticipated. Here, I was going to receive support start to finish and a plan to design this home my way within code parameters. As the process moved along over the next 6 months, more and more refinements were made. A vivid picture of how it was going together emerged. I even enjoyed a sophisticated virtual trip through the home to get a feel of what it will be like when completed. This home was becoming exactly what I imagined. It didn’t stop there. Permit application time came up early in 2024. That meant dealing with city planners and three different fields of engineering. Gabe and his staff dealt with all the engineering specs and how they would affect the construction. He and my contractor dealt with the city of Port Orchard and their 70…count ‘em 70 comments the professionals had to address. Pacific Home Source handled all relating to their work and coordinated with engineers to accommodate the city. In the end, I could not be more satisfied with Pacific Home Source, Gabe, and his staff. Gabe and Megan have been a HUGE help in getting our remodel/addition off the ground and have even assisted with helping us with Pierce County to get their additional requirements met and approved. We initially brought them our sketched out ideas for remodeling part of our house plus adding on over 600 square feet. Gabe came to the house and got measurements and went to work. He designed our house plans with our sketched ideas in mind and even had updated suggestions which was very helpful in determining our home's layout making it more fluid. They have great customer service and respond quickly and have walked us through the whole process and don't mind our questions. They are willing to jump in and assist with county requirements and have smoothed the way for us to get our house built the way we have envisioned it. Hands down, they are the best and I would recommend them to anyone looking for remodel, addition, or even new build plans.

My husband and I bought a 123 year old farmhouse that was much too small for our family. We had bought it in hopes of enclosing an existing carport to create more space for our family. We stumbled upon Pacific Home Source. Gabe went above and beyond for our family. After drawing up the plans, he got us in touch with an amazing engineer to finish the document process. Fast forward 16 months, Gabe called us to check in on the process and to see if he could get pictures of our fireplace that was part of the addition plans. Unfortunately, we were still dealing with getting our septic approved through the county so we had not started the project. Interestingly enough, we were contacted by the county the next week saying we needed an updated building site plan to match a new septic design we had just gotten approved. We called Gabe back and he was more than happy to help us out. We FINALLY have permits in our hands and are adding onto our house at this moment. Gabe was so calm and understanding with the stress we went through with the county. I would highly recommend this company-especially if you are working with Gabe!

Yes 5 stars. Gabe and Megan and his team of designers are the best. My wife and I had a very good Experience with Pacific Home Source. The job was an addition extending the entire wall of the house 8 feet. So this included, concrete foundation, framing walls, roof rafters, flooring, windows for a kitchen and dining room. The heart of the house was changed. Also in the back yard a pavilion was built. The drawings were great and Gabe suggested a good engineer to size and draw details for the large beams of the pavilion. All drawings were used in all inspections and the job passed all inspections! Gabe and his team are simply amazing. We worked with Pacific Home Source for our third major remodel in 20 years (all different homes), this one a to-the-studs update of a MCM rambler. The biggest difference: they really listen. Everything that was important to us, plus a few bright ideas we never would have considered, is thoughtfully included in our plans. Pacific home Source has been nothing short of amazing throughout this entire process. They are busy which right off the bat tells you something about the quality of their work, but this factor plays no role in the punctuality and attentiveness they apply to every project. Gabe and his crew have gone above and beyond to help us meet deadlines and make alterations to our plans to meet county code. We have appreciated the care provided every step of the way. Megan who was our main point of contact was beyond friendly, knowledgeable and incredibly helpful working with our schedule. Chloe, our draftsperson did a great job with our plan set and 3-D rendering. It was a lot of fun being able to take a tour of the project prior to building. She was very accommodating with our alterations and got them to us quickly with no sacrifice to quality. Gabe has an amazing company. He knows exactly what he’s doing. Due to his prior experience as an engineer we were able to get our plans right the first time expediting the engineering process when the time came. He works with many different county’s which helps when navigating the sometimes strict codes that need to be met. Being a younger family trying to work through the complexities of designing and building our first home it was amazing working with Gabe who helped us to optimize a smaller floor plan and stick to a strict budget. He came to our home and listened to our needs and desires. He made suggestions about things we had not even considered. After our preliminary plans were made, we met again to go over anything we wanted to change. He was open to finding solutions. When the plans were finalized, he sent them to a permitting company and a structural engineer. He has also recommended contractors who he has worked with that he knows will be a good fit for us. We worked with Gabe to draft a design for a covered deck with a stone fireplace for our cabin in the mountains with high-level snow-pack requirements. He made the process easy and he was a pleasure to work with. Unfortunately due to the winter snow, we weren't able to file for our permit until about 8 months after the plans were completed. During that time, the State updated building requirements enough that we had to go back to Gabe and ask him to update the plans. Even though he had a full workload, he was so kind to fit us into his schedule and make the updates quickly. We are grateful for his expertise, help and partnership.

I came to Gabe with room measurements, 10' by 10' , 12'by 12', 36" doorway openings. windows etc all the things that go into building a smaller home for our aging comfortabley in place. He took these dimensions and designed a single story house draft. Which he presented to us, for our approval and from there we designed porches, raised roofs. ramps,windows,a pantry and two bathrooms one with a featured window over the tub for a view of the woods. I paid Gabe a deposit in December 2018 for his services in obtaining a building permit for our main home and ADU. By February 2019, we still did not have a completed package to submit to Pierce County. Excuses were plenty: waiting on planner (planner said not true), waiting on engineer (engineer said not true), calls were left unanswered and emails mentioned attachments with nothing attached. It became obvious that he bit off more than he could chew. Come March 2019, I had to hire someone else who was able to get us permitted in 2 weeks. I high-fived the county planner thru the phone and everyone and their mother who had hands on this project screamed with glee. The last time I was able to reach Gabe was September 2019 via email in which he agreed to send a refund after admitting, "I saw online that you had hired someone else to complete the design." Well, Gabe you conveniently fell of the face of the Earth again and decided to keep our money anyway because no check arrived in my mailbox. My address has not changed should you decide to be a decent person and refund our deposit.

Throughout the entire process (estimate to receiving the plans), Gabe has been a pleasure to work with. He is very knowledgeable, professional, and personable. Working with Pacific Home Source on the design of our home was a wonderful experience. Gabe Spruell was our second designer; we had fired the first one for being behind schedule and way over budget. In contrast to our first experience, Gabe was very responsive and worked quickly and for a reasonable price. Because we had been working on the house for a while, we basically knew what we wanted. Even so, Gabe was very creative and came up with several new design elements that we incorporated. As we worked on the design, Gabe made many useful suggestions and gave us valuable advice on what would and would not work from a design perspective. He was engaged, flexible, and a pleasure to work with. Even though we hired him during a very busy period, he was able to turn drafts around quickly, meet with us when necessary, and keep us on our accelerated timeline. After his drawings were complete, his previous experience with structural engineering was extremely valuable, as the engineering firm accepted his design with no major modifications. We would not hesitate to work with Gabe again and we recommend Pacific Home Source very highly.

Pacific Home Source LLC is the real DEAL. Had Gabe come out and drafted a plan for my home rehab / garage to convert to a 4th bedroom with bathroom and rec room. When I went to Pierce County to submit my plans one of the building reps saw Pacific Home Source LLC's logo on my plans and was like "oh yeah those guys are good and they know what to do". Gabe was recommended to us (my wife and I) by a contractor to draw up the plans for our house to be built on an empty view lot. Gabe, my wife and I, and our builder spent, several sessions going through the design and redesign of the house. We had a first set of plans that we really liked, but unfortunately, not connected to Gabe, we had been provided inaccurate measurements for the lot. When we laid out the plans on the lot, they did not optimize the water. Gabe then volunteered to come out to the lot and we got accurate measurements along with a better fit for house. Gabe then drew up a second set of plans and we are thrilled with his work. Gabe provided us with numerous ideas to consider, but never pushed any particular idea. He listened to us and executed exactly what we desired. We are very pleased and will use him again in the future if the need arises.

I am the structural engineer that Mr. Spruell often selects to perform required engineering services on residential and commercial projects that he is designing. Gabe is very energetic and hard working. He's often found visiting the job site to observe requirements, ongoing work, interact with the contractor(s) and owner(s) to keep the job moving smoothly. He has a good grasp of the current requirements of the building codes and is able to insert the most effective ways in his designs to meet those code requirements. He is construction cost conscious and works with the clients to achieve a creative and functional design trying his best to keep the reigns on the client's budget. Mr. Spruell has good CADD drafting skills and presents a clean and usable set of plans and specifications. He does appear to have good referrals for new work as he's constantly busy. Pacific Homes Source designed an a extension to my approximately 1000 foot Rambler. The extension added approximately 40% to the square footage of our home. There were special considerations as my mobility is challenged and considerations for future worsening of my mobility had to be considered. The extension Is to be a family room, large storage closet, and a future bathroom.We had some ideas of for the extension which were important to us and a couple of custom features we wanted included. Pacific Home Source worked quickly and was able to translate our ramblings of desires into a coherent and beautiful design. Pacific Home Source did an amazing job of designing a space that otherwise could have just been a flat box into a excellent custom design. We added a pretty substantial addition to our house and hired Gabe at Pacific Home Source to draw up the plans and submit them for permits. We had a good idea of how we wanted the house to look, but needed help refining that concept and laying out the addition within the confines of our budget and a tight setback. Gabe did a great job in laying out the addition and making it flow properly. Although we aren't done with the construction and I'm handling a lot of it myself on nights and weekends, we are already getting a lot of compliments on how great it looks. Gabe is a hands on guy who worked with us to make sure we could have the things we wanted in our new addition. I highly recommend Gabe based on our experience. If you're going to General Contract your project yourself, Gabe knows a lot of great sub contractors that he can introduce you to as well, which can be a huge help if you are framing a house or big addition.
