Kat Sullivan Design

Kat Sullivan Design is a high quality custom design service providing architectural design for new residential projects, renovations, and additions. Design services also include industrial and commercial projects falling under part 9 of the BC Building Code, and larger projects in consultation with registered professionals as required. The principal, Kat Sullivan, combines the following education and experience to provide quality, efficient service: •Diploma of building technology (BCIT grad 1985), •Registration as a Building Designer (RBD) with Applied Science Technologists of BC, •Degree in Fine Arts (Emily Carr grad 1999), and •10 years experience in building regulation including registration as a Level 3 Building Official with the BIABC during employment with the Resort Municipality of Whistler. Services available include: •Custom architectural design, •Building code review/analysis, •Board of variance, rezoning, development permit variance and development permit applications and processing, •Local bylaw interpretation, •Rectification of non- conforming conditions, •Custom interior detailing, and •Visual art projects. Involved in the construction industry since 1985, Kat’s well-rounded experience includes 10 years as a building official (level 3) as well as running her own design firm since 1999. Kat’s creative process focuses on meeting client’s needs through providing multiple design options, encouraging clients to actively consider and take part in design outcomes. Each project and site presents its own potential and challenges, which are considered in detail as pen hits paper, or as layers of information form in a digital file.
