Our once efficient and simple seventies-soundbite of a space now soars as a sumptuous sea view sanctuary. Kepler Design expertly envisioned how we could transform an attached single-car garage into a light-filled addition, while also modernizing our “forever” home. The final result includes an updated master suite, walk-in closet, office and laundry room. The one-person kitchen and tiny guest bedroom also metamorphosed into an open-plan chef’s area and lounge-worthy guest suite with so much storage. The newly fashioned coffee bar and reimagined monochromatic fireplace created our perfect ocean-optics environment. And lastly, the addition of a custom book nook and wave watcher’s window seat fulfilled a childhood dream. Jan Kepler enabled us to turn a list of hopes and dreams into a magical memory-making abode.

Jan designed our dream kitchen! She was able to create a kitchen that provided all the needs and functionality without having to compromise on beauty and aesthetics. Magical, the word we use to describe the feeling we get every time we step into our new kitchen. My husband and I came to Jan at Kepler Design, with two very different visions for our kitchen remodel. I’ve had the pleasure to work with Jan Kepler on a whole home gut and remodel project over the past several months, including 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a kitchen, and the entire outside of the home including landscaping. Doing a remodel of this scope during a time of unprecedented supply chain challenges has been a lot of work, and Jan has been my rock through the process. When we started, I couldn’t have imagined how many design decisions would be involved in a project of this scale—cabinets, countertops, sinks, plumbing fixtures, floors, window coverings, tile, doors, door hardware, lighting, paint, furniture, and decor, to list only a few of the things that one takes for granted when actually living in a home. Ensuring that all of these elements work together is not an easy task, and working with a designer who has the experience of seeing what has worked in practice (and what hasn’t) has been invaluable. As a client with very unimaginative tastes, often not opinionated (but often very opinionated), it has been an enormous asset to have Jan push me to try things that I otherwise would not have, while at the same time incorporating those design elements I felt most passionate about, and help to make a decision when I couldn’t. The finished result of my project is immeasurably better off for Jan’s involvement. I would not hesitate to work with Jan again, and would enthusiastically encourage others to involve her in their design projects.

Where do I start? Jan has been absolutely wonderful with our kitchen remodel. We needed to make our kitchen significantly more efficient and make it a "two chef" kitchen. We had spent 2 years trying to arrive at a solution on our own but Jan came up with a plan within 48 hours. She truly thought outside the box and it was perfect for us. Once we settled on the design she was WONDERFUL at helping us pick out the cabinetry, appliances, tile, flooring, sinks, etc. I'm pretty inept at this stuff but Jan made it easy. We ordered the cabinetry through Jan for two reasons - we wanted quality and we wanted to make sure it was ordered correctly. Since Jan was intimate with the design, she was the obvious choice for the cabinetry. Another advantage to using Kepler Design, is that she is well connected with the construction side of the business. She introduced us to an excellent general contractor who has worked out extremely well. Overall - I can't recommend her enough. She was so easy to work with and her honesty and responsiveness was always appreciated.

Jan designed the kitchen in our previous house and we were very happy with the result. We asked her to come up with a solution for our recently purchased home. We had a feeling for what we were looking for. Jan’s solutions combined functionality with just the look we had hoped for. Due to pandemic supply chain issues for appliances the project took longer than hoped but the end result is excellent and the quality of cabinets superb.

Jan is fantastic, I had the pleasure to work with her on a very large complicated multi-year custom home project. We worked together during the bidding and early design phase through the entire construction process including design, drawings, details and installation. You really want a designer who is a strong collaborator and cares about your project as much as he/she might their own. Jan does that, its evident in how she approaches the process as well as any issues that need solutions in a caring and professional manner. Very creative and she will have your best interest in mind, highly recommended!

My husband and I first met Jan Kepler of Kepler Design six years ago. We had just moved into a 34 year old home that had not been updated since it was built. Initially, we decided to tackle the kitchen as our first project. We were nervous about doing this renovation, but after meeting Jan and seeing her work, we felt very comfortable selecting her. When you embark on a large remodel, you worry; you may even panic. You know what you like but to modernize a beloved 50-year-old property to accomplish it takes more than that. It takes design expertise, patience, insight, courtesy, intuition, and an eye for beauty (as well as precision). Jan Kepler has all of that in spades. We bought a cottage by the sea, and we have lived in it, throughout the pandemic, deciding what we need to do to update it in order to make it our style and ready for our next steps in life. Jan listened to us, honored our budget by asking difficult questions, created a gorgeous design for each room and then helped us get all the cabinetry ordered. Jan is an incredible designer and person! We throughly enjoyed working with her each step of the way. We bought a home that was fairly modern and nice on the exterior but the original owners had chose to customize it with an awkward kitchen floor plan and very dated colors and features of an early 90's home. (e.g. rose colored cabinets and lots of brass) We knew the home was in the perfect location and was well built but needed a complete transformation with cabinets throughout and classic but modern design choices that would make the home become something we would admire for many years to come. Jan assisted us with a design plan and was always on top of the process and didn't miss a beat on the entire project. She is a class act and very lovely to work with which can reduce any stress along the way. Jan Kepler, of Kepler Design Group, recently assisted us in a gut renovation of our 1984 master bedroom, bath, master closet, and laundry room. It involved architectural plans by Jessica Lehrbaum AIA, layout design, drawings, and cabinetry by Jan Kepler and Plato Cabinets, and the build-out and finish work by Oak Ridge Custom Builders. The scope of the project involved complete demo of the 1984 configuration, new layout and floor plan rearrangement, structural integrity, reframing of areas, new windows, and all new plumbing and electrical in the renovated areas. Our project was handled seamlessly by Jan Kepler, as well as Patrick Jarvis, and Kane Jenkins of Oak Ridge Custom Builders, and their team of skilled professionals and crew that participated in our project. The Plato cabinetry was a welcome addition since we had previously used Plato cabinets on a full kitchen remodel Jan Kepler created for us almost ten years ago. Jan's attention to detail is one of her many assets that makes her the perfect Designer. She has the ability to listen to her clients and what their priorities and needs are, and can then translate those wish list items into a working and equally important, functioning plan that adheres to budget constraints. One of her best assets is her genuine love of what she does which translates into a warm and professional working relationship with her clients. We can confidently refer Jan to anyone looking for the consummate professional.

It was just after the Thanksgiving holiday 2018 and our kitchen had an unexpected flood. We had thought about updating and had actually looked into some granite. The flood did so much damage we had to gut the kitchen. We interviewed two designers and were not very happy. Then, a friend recommended Jan Kepler of Kepler Design. She came to our house, talked to us, measured, thought, and came up with some designs for us to look at. She completely took into account that we were "forced" into a remodel and made sure we were comfortable with prices as well as materials. Jan came up with one design in particular that nailed it. She rearranged our appliances, removed useless walls and created an open kitchen design that incorporated our breakfast nook. We met her at her studio and finalized the plans. Now, we had to pick out mateials. Jan met with me on Saturdays as I work full time. She would have me bring home a variety of samples to look at in our home. And then, one day, she had laid out a beautiful alder wood cabinet with Dreamy Marfil quartz for the countertops and a soft creamy finish for the Island. SOLD! In Nov. 2019 we finished the kitchen. Jan has a vast knowledge of interior design and handled every detail with professionalism. We are so grateful to have had her help us and we now have the kitchen of our dreams. We highly recommend Jan Kepler of Kepler Designs. In fact, we are going to hire her again to finish the rest of our projects!!

Jan was amazing to work with while designing our new home. She went above and beyond with many design aspects we were hoping for. For our complete remodel project enlarging a small 1970's vintage kitchen to a much bigger upgraded kitchen area, Jan provided great insight in current concepts and features while accommodating our preferences. She is very helpful coordinating with several suppliers and our contractor during these Covid times. We enjoy working with Jan and look forward to her support on a pending bathroom remodel project.

5 stars, 10+, top-notch service. Jan Kepler oversaw our total house remodel (5,000+ square feet). We are so happy with the results. She helped us find an outstanding builder to execute the project. She has excellent working relationships with many other local vendors, which allowed us to complete a project that should have taken close to a year in 6 months. She designed both the exterior and interior to modernize our 30-year-old home. The kitchen and bathroom designs have proved to be both functional and attractive -- eye-popping, actually. We would hire Kepler Design again, and we recommend Jan to all of our friends.

As soon as we moved into this house we knew we needed to make the kitchen lighter in color, more open, and more elegant. Jan took our vision and added all the details that made it our dream kitchen! Her recommendations for cabinet style, colors, countertops, tile, and most importantly the contractor made the project really come together. Everyone on her "team" was focused on performing very high quality work and careful attention to details. Jan is just the best. She has a great eye for the overall as well as the details that get missed which is the difference between a great kitchen and a fantastic kitchen. We love how our kitchen turned out. The work space is perfect for what we do. The cabinets are so easily opened and closed while looking fantastic--to me. I can give just one of many suggestions Jan made that has turned out to be so true: we installed two pull-out garbage/recycling drawers. One next to each sink. I cannot begin to tell you how that simple suggestion has made the kitchen 2x more functional. Our project involved a remodel of a 5,500+sft house. Kepler Design helped us throughout the design process, including coordinating with the architect on changes to interior architectural layouts, and the selection of materials, finishes and colors. Jan took us from start to finish on a recent kitchen remodel. She was very patient with us - making sure that we were getting exactly what we wanted. We hired KeplerDesign for our major home remodel. Both Stephanie and Jan helped us with the kitchen design, the media wall design, the master bedroom wall unit and the master bath vanities. We couldn't have been happier with the final outcome! Their attention to details and their helpful advice and knowledge in design proved invaluable. We like ultra modern and she has been instrumental in finding the perfect floor coverings, recommended colors, fabrics, leather-finish granite counters, kitchen upgrades and much more. On the subject of carpeting, her suggestion was a bit over the top for us, at first...until I thought about it and lived with a sample for a while. Well, she couldn't have made a better suggestion. We put that carpeting in about 5 years ago and continue to get rave reviews and we love it. We've yet to see anything like it. Her fabric resources are unbelievable, her sense of space and design wonderful! I have told Jan she's great for nudging us into thinking in new ways, and she's always been right. I can't wait to have another project, because we'll use her every chance we get! I recommend her highly! There have been numerous projects. Cost have varied from a few thousand to $50K.

Jan specializes in kitchen design. We used her to design the cabinets in our new home's kitchen and baths, and she also helped us to choose colors, tiles and other finishes. She does a lot of Mediterranean design in this area but our house is modern, and she easily adapted, got our taste, and had loads of suggestions, steering us the right way when we got off track. I would definitely use her again for any design project.
