Kristi and her team met with me early on. Due to personal reasons I had to postpone starting the project but Kristi understood and didn't make it a problem. She worked closely with her general contractor who worked closely with the electricians and plumbers. I moved into a high rise building and the entire 1,100square foot space was remodeled. The entire space reflects me! I was involved in most of the decisions but I trusted Kristi and her team. Changes that I requested were honored. This was an expensive endeavor but well worth it.

What can I say? Thanks to K. Smith Interiors we walk into our home every day and have to pinch ourselves as a result of her hard work, talent and ability to truly get us and translate that into the home of our dreams! We moved into our 1967 traditional in 2006. It was an adorable, but boxy, and relatively “starter home” with a lot of outdated finishings. We met Kristi the same year and over the next decade we hired her every few years when we would start thinking about moving to something bigger and more reflective of our evolving family lifestyle. Every engagement she’d take the time to understand wants and needs. We were always delighted by her vision and the work she and her team did … So when my husband said “it was time” to truly make the house our forever home based on his long thought out indoor /outdoor living concept —with a great room and Chef’s Kitchen we called Kristi. Given that the area we were tackling was at the time 5 separate rooms, Kristi got to work! There were architects, structural engineers, design meetings (and debates), kitchen show rooms, mood boards, more showrooms, presentations by Kristi and the amazing Andrea…and a global pandemic! And with that, what was a charming house is now a stunningly modern, uniquely comfortable, functional yet quirky living space that our family of 4 adores. Every square inch of space is beautiful AND efficient. This was like nothing we had done before and Kristi led us with such confidence and professionalism —and when needed, great humor. She and her team handled everything—from beginning to end and our scheduled touch-base meetings kept us on track and on time, even through serious supply chain issues. To top it all off, she selected, stored and edited everything from the furniture, coffee table books to our new dishware and silver to match our aesthetic. We just completed our near total home renovation with Kristi and her team. We are delighted with our overall design, construction, furniture and results. We highly recommend K Smith Interiors. Design Aesthetic Kristi and her team took the time to understand our personal style and wishes, blending our preferences with our desire to update our 24-year-old home. She spent the time with us to understand our design style and took that back to her workshop and developed a beautiful, modern design right out of the gate. Naturally, we had some back and forth on materials, but not all that much. Her design drawings were clear and measured carefully to the degree that the General Contractor and his sub-contractors could review those drawings and know exact placement to build. Construction Kristi introduced us to some of the GCs she knows well and works with so that we could have a few options in terms of budget and personality fit. While we had to wait a few months to get started due to demand, we had an excellent experience with our GC. John Klaer at KCS was very detail oriented with not only the original budget, but also the periodic invoicing, and the project plan. Our GC also suited our personality and need for an analytical amount of information. If the project slowed a bit, Kristi stepped in to see what might be at issue and nudged things along. Furniture Our 20-some-years old furniture had lived its useful life, so Kristi introduced us to Andrea Freeman, who specializes in furniture selection and layout. Again, Andrea was able to take our eclectic art collection and use that as a starting point for fabric, color and furniture selection. She selected wonderful items that we purchased directly from K Smith. Andrea took care of all the details and kept us informed on timelines. Even when pieces were delayed, Andrea was always able to provide an update on delivery dates. The team installed the furniture and even the artwork. The installation of art was incredibly speedy. Their fellow could lay out, measure and hang art pieces precisely and rapidly. Professionalism Our renovation was quite extensive. We have thousands of questions along the way. Kristi answered all of our questions, concerns and reassured our nerves on countless occasions. She and her team were incredibly responsive. If they did not have an immediate answer, they responded and gave us an idea of when they would be able to have a definitive response.

I just started working with Kristi on the interior design of a new house build in Santa Ana and she has been absolutely wonderful. Kristi is responsive and kind. She is personally going with me to look at a model house next week to start the planning process. The services are also fairly priced. You cannot go wrong.

Kristi was the perfect person to assist our family after a tragic house fire. She replaced "Beauty for Ashes". Kristi created a "Spanish Light" theme that assisted us in making decorative choices that matched the architecture and provided consistency throughout the house. Kristi helped redesign areas of the house that had "people flow" issues. Her vision was beyond anything we imagined. The reconfiguring of the kitchen, dining room and bathrooms were transformative. We are in love with the new spaces. Kristi eliminated architectural features that both dated the house and blocked the view of the pool. She chose upgraded tiles, flooring, paint colors, vanities, hardware, plumbing fixtures, etc. that were exquisite. Navigating those choices would have been daunting without her expertise. Kristi was very responsive to our questions and needs. Due to supply chain issues during Covid and occasional cost constraints, we had to move to other products more often than usual and she assisted us in making those transitions. Kristi had an organized way of presenting her vision both in-person in her office and in her 3-D drawings and thorough product lists that we referred to endless times while making decisions. I had the pleasure of working with Kristi Smith of K. Smith Interiors and her entire construction and cabinetry team this past year. Kristi is not only an incredibly talented designer, but her business sense is equally outstanding. She always cared about what we cared about even if it was a small detail and she always made us feel like we were her only client – which was not the case. My husband and I hired Kristi after interviewing several designers. She was 100% the right person for us and worth every penny of her services. We officially hired her in September and began work in February 1. Those 5 months were spent designing, redesigning, bidding, redesigning again....We completed a full kitchen, master bath and guest bath remodel (along with plumbing, electrical, flooring) on a 1957 original CA ranch. Kristi walked with us through every step. She coordinated all elements of the remodel with the GC including deliveries. Her plans helped us pass the permit process with ease. Her attention to detail is amazing. True story:: Our bathroom tile installer ripped up half a days worth of tile because he didn't like the way the pattern laid out, and re-laid the tile because he knew Kristi was not going to like it. I'm not sure I would have EVER noticed, but he knew Kristi would. HA! (We called him Picasso because he took his art of tile seriously). I believe her strongest area is kitchen design. We do not have ONE wasted inch of space in our new kitchen, and I still have one completely empty drawer and cabinet! How? Kristi is an amazing design professional who worked with us on our fire rebuild project in Anaheim Hills. Our project had two phases of work - one was helping select materials and fixtures and working on the layout of our kitchen/master bath and the other was putting together a furniture package for several rooms in the house. On multiple occasions Kristi with her knowledge and experience worked as our advocate in dealing with our general contractor and their subcontractors. We love how our house turned out and it is an understatement to say it took a lot of blood, sweat and tears by Kristi and Andrea to make it happen. Several times during our rebuild my husband and I have expressly agreed that we didn't realize initially how much we needed a designer like Kristi and that it was absolutely money well spent. After we moved back into our house, we entered into an additional scope of work with Andrea to design and furnish our nursery. Kristi and her team at K. Smith Interiors transformed our home with a beautiful and functional remodel. Kristi was recommended to us by Design Hardwoods when we first started updating our quirky and dated 1980s house. We worked with her team and KCS Construction on a trial remodel of the master bedroom and decided to move forward on a whole-house design plan. Kristi excels at planning the layouts for elegant and practical living spaces. They transformed our claustrophobic and inefficient kitchen/family room into a light-filled, open great room, and found space for a walk-in pantry to boot. Similarly, she took an ugly half bath and transformed it into a walk-in mudroom and pretty powder room. She and Andrea also picked beautiful custom finishes, like a custom vent hood and beautiful accent wallpapers, that really elevate the design. When the initial materials or furnishings were outside our budget, they came up with terrific alternatives. They also explained why we might want to allocate more of the budget to certain items/finishes, and they never steered us wrong. K. Smith offers strong design sense coupled with excellent relationships with contractors and vendors. The close working relationship with our General Contractor was a huge help in managing a complex whole-house remodel and design plan. We truly love our “new” home!

The interior of our home was in dire need of a facelift. Kristi and Andrea presented us with some awesome finishes and recommendations for appliances that kept our project realistic in terms of budget. The finished product is a dramatic improvement over what was in place when we started, it looks fabulous! As good or better than many of the high end model homes we've visited. I had the please of working with Andrea on a staging project recently for a client selling their home. Truly one of a kind! I met Kristi and Andrea mid-way into my home renovation. It was a huge project. I needed a second set of eyes to help me pick materials. Kristi Smith is an awesome designer! She is very knowledgeable about products, new home construction as well as remodels. She is pleasant to work with. She is very responsible and communicates well.
