We had a very positive experience working with Lauren Ostrow Interior Design. Lauren and Mindy were very solicitous of my family's needs and designed our house accordingly. Their recommendations were right on target and we use all they spaces (the whole house) they designed exactly as planned. Dear Lauren, As we are almost finished with the process of decorating our apartment, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you and your excellent support staff for a great job. Steve and I are thrilled with the results. We finally have the warm, cozy, attractive yet functional home we wanted! You are wonderful to work with-creative, responsive, always on top of things, a good listener to your client’s needs, yet not afraid to make a strong case for something you feel is critically important to a good outcome. Rather than take a toss out all the old and start new approach, you sought imaginative ways to use those items we already owned wherever possible. The suppliers whom you use to help in the execution are all very professional. Again, we are delighted with our home and thank you for all your efforts! It has truly been a pleasure.

I first met Lauren 8 years ago when my husband and I decided to embark upon a long- overdue living room renovation. I liked Lauren immediately, and felt very comfortable working with her. Without her, we probably still would be talking about renovating, without actually proceeding. We needed a little push, and she was the right person for the job. Since that first renovation, we have lived through two additional projects, and now, thanks to Lauren, every room in our apartment (including two bathrooms and the kitchen) has been beautifully re-done. Lauren’s taste is exceptional. However, what impressed us most about Lauren is her eye for space. She suggested some fairly minimal changes in the lay-out of our apartment which have made an extraordinary difference both in terms of practicality and aesthetics. Whereas we used to walk in to a cramped entryway, we now have a foyer with a sizeable and easily accessed closet. What was a hallway with opposing closet doors that continually banged into each other is now a spacious dressing area with a beautiful wall of built-in closets. By introducing an archway between the dressing area and our bedroom, Lauren injected architectural interest into what was otherwise a fairly non-descript space. For our living room, Lauren designed cabinetry that took into account all of our specified needs and maximized our storage space in a way that is essential to people living in Manhattan. The same is true for our new kitchen, which is much more practical than what it replaced, in addition to being a beautiful room. In sum, we have been extremely impressed by Lauren’s talent and abilities, and have very much enjoyed getting to know her over the last several years. We could not recommend her more highly.

I have been working with Lauren and her team on multiple projects for the past fifteen years. In addition to decorating my Victorian house in Englewood she did a remarkable job on an Adirondack style weekend lake house that has been photographed for magazines and included in a special book devoted to Adirondack style homes. I have also redecorated several rooms that needed updating as my children grew older and our needs changed. In addition, Lauren designed and decorated the gut renovation plus extension of my in-laws home, which turned out beautifully. In addition to having impeccable taste, Lauren is easy to work with; she clearly communicates her thoughts and readily answers questions with well thought out opinions. She understands the needs of family life and how that translates into designing spaces for the family as well as its individual members. Lauren is open to suggestions, yet has a clear vision for a project. Her confidence always enabled me to move forward on projects when I could have easily remained stuck, unable to make a decision. Lauren has wonderful vendors with whom she has worked for many years, designing such items as customs chairs and sofas. My husband is quite tall and appreciates that Lauren will order pieces with this in mind. Lauren’s office staff is quite professional, with up-to-date, accurate invoicing and reliable message-taking. Lauren is very hands-on and will make a point of quickly returning all calls, answering the majority of my questions herself. When you use Lauren you benefit from her great style, use of color and patterns, sense and practical approach to living. Thank you again! We hired Lauren Ostrow to help us update our Yankee barn home's great room, which combines our kitchen and family room. What we got was so much more! Lauren's insight, talent and years of experience turned a very poorly laid out and inefficient space into a very beautiful and functional great room fit to be featured in a magazine. In addition, Lauren and her team handled every detail relating to the project from start to finish. They not only redesigned the space, helped hire the general contractor and other trade people, and picked out materials, fixtures, furniture, etc., but they also managed all of the project's moving pieces and then decorated the space beautifully! The entire time Lauren kept us involved by soliciting our feedback on her ideas and plans, and always kept us updated on the project's progress. Going into the renovation, we never thought that our great room had so much potential. We now look forward to coming home and spending time in our beautifully decorated and redesigned family room and, in particular, cooking in our amazing kitchen. We now get countless compliments on the space from our guests. Also, anyone who visited us before the renovation cannot believe how amazing the space looks. I am certain that we would have never realized all of the room's potential without Lauren's involvement.

Lauren Ostrow's work is a feast for the eyes. Symmetry, beauty, timelessness, smart, comfort, impeccable all come to mind when looking at interiors she and her crew have worked on. But if looking doesn't convince you, working with her will. I have been a client for over 15 years in that time we have done several projects. Each rug, chair, couch window covering, lamp shade, chandelier, door knob, handles, wall cover paint color (the list goes on..) have been carefully chosen with aesthetic, personal preference and budget in mind. Lauren is a pleasure to work with, she has the rare combination of being artistic, realistic and pragmatic. Lauren has excellent connections with true craftsman and even better working relationship with tradesmen; this goes a long way in smoothing out bumps that inevitably occur during any project. I wouldn't work with anyone else because my house is just so pretty.

We have been living in a Victorian house in Englewood, New Jersey for over 12 years. We have renovated and decorated our home in many stages (at least 6) over the years while raising 5 boys in the house. Each time we decided to improve our home, our first call was to Lauren Ostrow. We love the way our home looks and believe that it incorporates our personal taste and needs. It is not easy to decorate and design a house that can hold up to our family, but Lauren and Mindy did just that. We are an active, athletic family with a love for music. They created ample space for sports equipment, baseball caps, sneakers, etc., in our house and helped convert the carriage house into a music studio with framed album covers and rock posters, as well as a kitchenette and bathroom that services the basketball court and pool. They decorated our library (incorporating my husband’s collection of 100 year old books), living room and dining room, reflecting the Victorian time period and all its quirkiness. Our master bedroom is beautiful and fresh looking even after 10 years of many of our sons coming in to jump on the bed and throw pillows around. The boys bedrooms are sharp looking and functional with lots of storage space. We are about to embark on decorating our 6 year old son’s room and I am excited to work with Lauren and Mindy again. In addition to amazing decorative taste, Lauren and Mindy offer very professional service. One of them is always there to supervise when an installations is necessary. They are quick to respond to my phone message if I can’t reach them on their cell phones. They are always available to help with the repair and maintenance of previously decorated rooms. I have known Lauren Ostrow for over 25 years. We were first introduced when she designed my parent’s home in Harrison, NY. The best testimony to that project is the fact that the vast majority of the pieces she selected back then are still in use and as beautiful and functional as they were that many years ago! Since that time, Lauren has helped us design our apartment on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. We have been working on our place over the past few years, making improvements as we go along and Lauren has always been extremely flexible and willing to work with us in any way we needed.
