My husband and I have had the pleasure of working with Lela Knight on 3 projects over the last 5 years. Each has been unique in motivation to complete the project, scope of work, timeline to complete the project, and budget. Lela never failed to meet our expectations in any of these areas, and in fact, surpassed all of them. For our first project, we needed to make our recently remodeled home feel less stark and more warm and inviting. In short, our house was grey and white. We had the basic furniture we needed, but lacked rugs, accent tables, art, dining room chairs and a few other accessories here and there. Lela consistently sources high quality materials and decor that complimented our style. She worked diligently to find unique pieces and offered us multiple options which allowed make informed decisions without feeling overwhelmed. The execution of the project was flawless. Lela works with a team of professionals who placed our rugs, console table, chairs and art perfectly and in a timely manner. Thanks to Lela, our home no longer feels stark and cold, but has a touch of flair and color that it previously lacked. Our second opportunity to work with Lela was remodeling a mid-rise condominium that we purchased for my mother who was moving from Houston after my father passed away. She had never lived by herself as she had been married since she was 20 years old, so it was important to make her condo reflect her preferences and make her transition to Baltimore as easy as possible. My mom was 73 at the time and there were safety considerations that needed to be made. Lela guided us through the decisions regarding placement of grab bars, keeping walkways open, and other considerations we would not have thought of. She also selected beautiful flooring, countertops, hardware, and tile that led to a beautiful outcome that my mom just loved. Finally, we recently remodeled part of our home that a previous owner had added on that we found to be completely non-functional. It was dark and had a floor plan that made little sense, if any at all. Lela met with our contractor and developed a floor plan that complimented the rest of our home. She selected beautiful flooring for the common areas and bedrooms of the space, along with the perfect tile for the shared bathroom. We absolutely love how the space flows and the many ways in which we can use it. At this point, we have settled on a guest room, a craft room and a common area for game nights and anything else fun that we might decide to do. I’m happy to recommend Lela Knight. Her passion for design, combined with her outstanding talent and exceptional customer service, makes her a true pleasure to work with.

Lela helped us move from our home to an apartment in a retirement community, and she was the best!! She met with us in our home to get a sense of what we would like and to go over what we would be taking with us. Then she put together 3 or 4 packets of recommendations of furniture, drapery materials, rugs, etc. for each room making it easy for us to visualize what our new home would look like. She did all of the planning and ordering and even contacted a mover to bring everything when we moved. And she did all of this under the budget that we had set. We were extremely satisfied and give Lela the highest recommendation.

Lela helped us give new life to our entire first floor during covid. This was project involved everything from paint to rugs, and carpet, to kitchen counters, window treatments, furniture, chandeliers and more. We love our fresh updated look! Thank you Lela!

When we moved to a house in Roland Park from a small apartment in Brooklyn, NY, Lela helped us furnish our mostly empty living room, foyer, family room and dining room. Even with COVID "supply chain" shortages in full effect, Lela found creative solutions, combining our existing eclectic mix of traditional and modern pieces with newly sourced items to create a beautiful formal living room and an incredibly comfortable and functional family room. Lela listened carefully to my husband and me, and found the intersection of our varied tastes. We enjoyed working with her and we are very happy with the results of our collaboration with Lela.

When we built our house 4 years ago our architect recommended Lela to assist with interior design. Initially we were reluctant because we knew that we wanted to bring almost all our furniture, various rugs, and art to the new house and wondered how much design help we really needed. What we didn't know was that building a house would entail hundreds of decisions and that having Lela to keep us focused, on track, and mindful of a budget would be invaluable. Throughout the process Lela was a sounding board for our ideas and an inspiration when we had none. She made sure that we never lost sight of the practical implications of our choices and gently but honestly guided us away from some bad ones we were on the verge of making. Lela never imposed her vision of what the house would be on us, she just helped us realize ours.

We made the mistake of building our new house out of state with a newborn at home, and I can say there is no way it would have happened without Lela! Lela listed to what my husband and I liked and didn't like, and create a design that feels like both of us. She helped us manage the entire process from selecting our finishes and furniture, to double checking our builder's work. We couldn't be happier with our new house!

Some people are just a breath of fresh air. That is what it is like to work with Lela Knight of Lela Knight Interiors. Lela is a next caliber designer with skills that set her apart from others. For each project, she creates unique design solutions that demonstrate her talent and the time and effort she puts into getting to know the client’s wants and needs. She’s an effective communicator and unlike other designers I’ve worked with is well organized with laser-like focus. She makes effective use of her time with clients and the other members on the design team. Lela views teamwork much the same as I, which is that architecture and the development of a home for our clients is a team sport. Lela’s ideas are always new and inspiring and they reinforce the design concepts. I am currently working with Lela on 2 homes and am already looking forward to the next one! It’s a true and honest pleasure to work with someone who is not only so artistically talented, but extremely professional while being lighthearted, sincere, and fun.

Leila is great. She listens well and is wonderfully creative and has a great sense of color and textures.. It is extremely easy to recommend her.

Lela has helped me redecorate several rooms in my house that needed refreshing after 13 years of wear and tear from a family of five. In the living room, Lela helped me select a new sofa and chairs and helped me select upholstery to recover throw pillows and stools. I really appreciate Lela's flexibility in how we worked together. For the furniture, we went shopping together. However, for the upholstery, I shopped and brought home samples of what I liked and then she came to my house to offer her input and help me finalize my choices. In our office and guest room, I wanted to replace the carpet and repaint the walls. This also included replacing the carpet on the stairs leading up to the 3rd floor. I had seen a carpet in a friend's house that I really liked and had the name of the place she purchased it. So I picked up the sample and brought it home and then Lela brought her paint colors over. When I showed Lela the the color I liked for the carpet, she tactfully brought to my attention that given the high traffic and heavy wear and tear on the stairs, I might want to consider another color, or at least be prepared to need to clean regularly. That feedback was extremely helpful and influenced my color choice. We then selected paint and trim colors. Lela ordered larger paint swatches to be mailed to me. When they arrived, I realized the paint colors didn't work with the other colors throughout our house. Lela made time to quickly come back over and help me select a different color. her quick response meant we could start the project on schedule. I appreciate Lela's flexibility on how she works with me, ranging from her doing the shopping for me, to me doing the shopping and her offering her opinion on what I pick out, to us going shopping together. I like her practical feedback given that our house gets a lot of wear and tear with 3 teenage kids. She is also able to work within my budget and help me make choices accordingly. Last, but not least, Lela has a fun loving spirit and that makes working together a treat.

Lela has helped turn my house into a beautiful home! She has a great eye for color and pattern, and always stays within my budget, often suggesting places where I can save money and places where it is worth the cost to spend more. Her ability to pick fabrics, colors, and designs that match my vision is uncanny, and she helps me to formulate my vision when I am at a loss. I have used her repeatedly over the past three years. She is fantastic!

Lela was a huge help in all aspects of our renovation. She helped with the plans to revamp the first floor. Lela helped with the new lay out , colors and new furniture. She helped me pick out backsplashes floor finishes and rugs. Also helped get the perfect island size and lighting plus stools. Lela was a fantastic help and fun to work with. Miss having her around. Lela Knight Interiors was responsible for transforming our basement! She helped to clear away an abundance of clutter and induced a 'reduce, reuse and recycle' mantra that instilled project momentum. With Lela's vision, expertise, and connections, we turned our roughed-in storage room into a fully functioning entertainment room, with storage closests, a ping pong table, and wall-to-wall carpeting. Everyone now loves our new basement!!!!
