Laurel ROCKS! Her attention to detail, project mgt skills, and a great eye for design is top notch. She creates a theme for the entire house (interior and exterior). She also has great connections w/in the industry when it comes to sourcing finishes and materials.

Laurel was an absolute dream to work with. She did a great job with working with a few pieces we loved and giving us guidance to pick out the rest. She also helped us think holistically about the house. We started out only planning to redo the bathrooms and ended up redoing most of the house. We are very happy with the outcome. Everyone that Laurel worked with (flooring, bathroom appliances, tile, cabinetry) was fantastic as well. We'd work with Laurel again in a heartbeat.

I hired Laurel with Spencer Design to project manage my new home construction and can't say enough good things about her. She not only kept me on task, she kept me ahead of schedule so that when the contractor asked for something, we were ready. She helped me with layouts for each room, material picking from tile to lighting to floors to paint, and helped schedule appointments and meetings with the necessary vendors. She served as a liaison to my contractor and asked the questions I didn't know to ask. There are so many choices when doing a project like this, without her I would've been overwhelmed. She is worth her weight in gold, by staying organized you will save money in the end.

Laurel was absolutely amazing in helping us through our remodel. She brought so much to the table in terms of ideas, colors and finishes and the vision she helped create turned out beautifully. She has great relationships with various vendors, making the selection process much easier, and helped keep tabs on costs (and keep them under control). Communication was easy and frequent with both me and the contractor, making an absolutely seamless team. I'd work with Laurel again in a heartbeat!!

Laurel has provided excellent design services for us as we have mostly completed a renovation of our Walloon Lake cottage over the past year. This is a challenging project as we are making most of our design decisions remotely- my husband and I are in Chicago, Laurel is primarily based in San Francisco and the home is in Northern Michigan. As she is also a homeowner on Walloon Lake, she was on-site for different phases, even when we could not be there. Laurel totally gets the design choices around designing a cool, hip, yet relaxed casual feel for an ideal family vacation home. She is a very clear communicator and is highly available as design/furnishing decisions are being made. She listens carefully to what we are trying to do and offers multiple options for us to consider. I like her taste and her practicality a lot, which has made the project much easier than it would be otherwise. Laurel was in frequent contact with the builder and helped coordinate many of the details involved with the interior and exterior design. I hired Laurel to help me completely tear down and design two new bathrooms in our home. Her eye for design and her creativity surpassed all of my expectations. She can combine practical/functional needs with style and help you to narrow down exactly what you like. I've seen her portfolio of projects and am impressed that she creates such different ideas for people with similar taste as well as being able to adapt and design for people with contemporary, modern, traditional or other tastes. Her guidance in sourcing materials and contractors made the projects run smoothly and took away a lot of my headaches. While working on these projects, she also helped me replace carpet with hardwood floors, find a better sliding door option for our living room and update some lighting in our home. Once we are ready to redesign our kitchen she is the first person I will call.
