Hi I’m Mary Nolte. I am a knowledgeable, creative & very intuitive Interior Designer with a specialty in Color Consulting. I work on all types of design projects including new constructions, renovations or updating of homes and businesses. I systematically zone in on the best color & design solutions while providing a stress free and enjoyable experience with great results. My consultations consist of assessing the needs of my clients through conversation, touring the space, and looking at the environment for things like lighting, architectural elements, and furnishings requirements. I have such a passion for color & design and what I like best about my job is when I get a sigh of relief and a hug from my client. You and I arrive at the best color solution from ceiling to floor, wall to wall. Kaleidoscope Color Consulting has extensive color selection experience in a wide variety of environments. Mary was amazing to work with. I'm in the interior design business but was struggling with my exterior colors. She was so well versed in colors and asked all the right questions to make it easy. I showed her an inspo picture and she was able to take all the things I loved about it and applied it to my new home. I would recommend her to anyone and I will!

I didn’t know where to begin in finding someone to help me pick paint colors for my walls and to blend with my decor. Thank goodness when I was doing my search I found Mary. My husband and I were really struggling to select a white color for our living room and kitchen. Like many, we have dark and light areas in those rooms. Mary was terrific in helping us select the right color of white for our home. Mary talked through the various light aspects and tones of the colors for our rooms and clearly understood our overall design. She is professional, patient and detailed which made the selection process easy. We are so pleased with the result and highly recommend Kaleidoscope Color Consulting.

I recently hired Mary to assist with paint colors. She is extremely knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. Mary offered many suggestions that were truly appreciated. I will recommend Mary to my family and friends. Why waste money trying to figure it out yourself. It is well worth the expense.

Mary is terrific (and then some)! I was facing a move to a much smaller home and knew I needed assistance in making things work. Not only did Mary create a stunning living room, bedroom, and bath that have elicited more compliments than I can count. In addition, my new home reflects precisely what I would have chosen for myself if I had Mary’s skill and vision. I found myself asking how Mary was able to bring all this about. In my view, a number of factors were at play above and beyond her formidable designing talents – namely, her ability to ask incisive questions that elicited what I liked (and what I didn’t); her gift for listening; her imagination and intuitiveness; her resourcefulness; and her diligence. Working with Mary was a great experience. She is the consummate professional, someone who returns calls and emails promptly and does what she says she will do when she tells you she will do it. She is also a fine human being with a lovely sense of humor. The whole thing was FUN!

In 2021-2022, I was able to start some long-needed home maintenance and improvements, including full interior painting, window coverings, flooring, etc. I confess I was nearly paralyzed about what colors to use throughout the house. Ever since I moved in, it had been a single color beige-off-white in every room. I really wanted to do something to spark it up, but my tastes are very conservative. From previous experience, I knew I would probably make some wrong choices and be disappointed in the outcome if I did it myself. A friend recommended Mary to me and I am delighted by the way things turned out. She was very attentive to my tastes and the limits of my “comfort zone.” She helped me pick a palette of compatible colors that provides variety throughout the house. The old carpet had already been removed and new floors laid in the living areas, kitchen, and baths. Even though I hired her to help with paint colors, she also helped me select some fabulous window coverings for the whole house. They are beautiful “woven grass” Roman shades and really tie the look of the whole house together. Some of the blinds are translucent and some are room darkening. I also purchased a large rug for the living room that she recommended. She made the whole process smooth and stress free. She is extremely flexible in helping the customer find what they like, without imposing her own tastes on the project. I would highly recommend her services.

I had no idea what I was doing until I met Mary. I envisioned what I wanted in my family and living room. I like the coastal feel. I met Mary randomly and took her offer to help me. Thank goodness! She truly knows her stuff. She is reasonable, honest, patient, and knowledgeable. I highly recommend her consulting services. I recently used her assistance with my kitchen remodel. She consulted me on color tiles, cabinet colors, and countertops. I get compliments from guests all the time. Ask her to show you pictures since we took plenty.

What a terrific experience I had with Kaleidoscope Color Consulting's Mary Nolte as my design consultant! A good listener and a talented designer, Mary offered ideas and coordinated my redesign of three rooms. I'm thrilled with the color combinations that are so well-coordianted of the draperies, carpet, furniture, and wall paint. Mary listened to my ideas and vision and explained how to pull it altogether. As I wanted to be very involved, Mary took me to showrooms to see rugs and drapes. She showed me how to make sure my choices worked together. I am delighted with the final result and would recommend Mary Nolte to everyone who is looking for a design consultant on Long Island.
