Melissa is a very talented and enthusiastic designer. We hired her to help select paint colors, kitchen backsplash tiles, bathroom shower tile, wallpaper, lighting, and carpet. She was very affable, easy to work with, and was quick to discern the style we envisioned for our home. I highly recommend Melissa Fields to anyone struggling with the many decisions and intricacies that a home renovation entails.

From our very first job working together many years ago, to our latest project, Ive always been exceedingly impressed with Shades of Gray. Melissa is innovative with a keen eye for detail. Melissa and I had a meet & greet late last week. She's tenacious, friendly, and professional. I recently moved and still have boxes in the garage. Melissa has a completely blank slate with no furniture and empty walls. I love color, she loves me for loving color. Our next steps are going to be a blast! I can hardly wait. I consulted with Melissa for our living room remodel which included and empty wall space that I had no idea what to do with. She provided insight on how to maximize the open space, as well as recommending added touches of elegance to the design. Her feedback and answers to my many questions helped me organize my thoughts and visualize a more cohesive area. OMG OMG OMG!!!! Where do I start!!!! From the first phone call and meeting with Melissa, I knew we would be in good hands! We were new to the design process, and she literally guided us through every step of the way, explained everything in detail, and made sure we understood everything! She also provided us with weekly updates on our project which we really loved! Melissa is a true professional and absolutely amazing at what she does! She is hardworking, detailed, precise, thoughtful, caring, listens to her clients needs, and takes PRIDE in her work! Let me say this, we went from PLAIN to MODERN and FABULOUS! It's like Christmas everyday seeing the amazing results that she provided! When she did the BIG reveal and had us close our eyes and then open them, I just screamed out loud with excitement and I almost wanted to cry because I was so happy!! We are absolutely in love with our new living/dining room/kitchen area! I say "new" because that's what she gave our home...a "new" attitude! I am SO happy to be writing this review!! Melissa is very talented and detail oriented! There are no words to describe the amount of joy and happiness to see my desired vision come together during the reveal! I called Melissa and after speaking to her for a few minutes, I automatically knew that I was in the right hands! We immediately started working on ideas, visions, and goals and I wasn’t quite sure what I needed at first but Melissa was there to the rescue. I call her “Super Woman”because she managed, coordinated juggled several plates without any of them falling! A woman of many many talents! By far the BEST! I am very pleased and looking forward to working on my next project with Melissa!

Our home renovation journey started 2 months ago on an established home that needed, what I call "a hug." However the work involved in researching, browsing, and trying to make sure everything flowed together was beginning to become overwhelming, which is when I decided to reach out to Melissa from Shades of Gray. Right from the beginning Melissa, the owner and founder, was prompt, professional and had an infectious can-do attitude. Melissa was able to come over to my home with samples, paint swatches, and a wealth of information. I'm pretty particular and specific about my design style and she was able to organize my thoughts, give evidence based facts about materials, and like a dart to a target she 100% NAILED my style and vision! Melissa not only provided quick and kind communication, but the vision/mood board she created along with her detailed recommendations were amazing and invaluable. My husband and I recently moved into a new home (built in 2004) and we needed guidance in updating the decor. Melissa was very helpful in offering advice and ideas on how to add a contemporary flair to our Tuscan style home. She was friendly and professional during our 2 hour in-home consultation. The suggestions she gave helped us to achieve a new look that is comfortable, cozy and classy! We are very happy with the decorating assistance that Melissa provided.

I enjoyed talking to Melissa and having her share her knowledge of interior design with me; a complete novice in this field. She is very knowledgeable, personable and professional! All around, a great human being! At the beginning of our consultation, we got caught up on a subject we are both very passionate about and time flew by. Consultation was scheduled for 2 hours but because we lost track of time, she honored that time lost and added an additional 30 minutes to our consultation to make sure she provided all needed information and all my questions were answered. I was impressed by her level of professionalism! She provided her summary of recommendation and the mood board for my project in a timely manner and to my satisfaction. Thank you Melissa!

Our family had just moved to San Antonio when we hired Melissa. My husband hired her as a gift to me because he knew I was overwhelmed with the move and all the craziness in our lives along with making our new house OUR home. Melissa was simply AMAZING! She is professional, organized, and insightful. I am one of those people that knows what they like when they see it, but I don't always have the terminology to describe what I want. Melissa evaluated our tastes and helped articulate visuals/samples of what we actually wanted. (Even when we were not sure ourselves!) Melissa has a true sense of style, flow and function for a home. She was conscientious of our budget when helping us shop for decor and creating our style-- all the while making sure we were achieving our goals for our home. At the end of the day the best thing about Melissa--other than her UNDENIABLE TALENT--is her amazing personality. She treated us like family. We adore her and can not wait to use her for future projects!

Shades of Gray Design is a wonderful company! Mrs. Melissa gave me so much insight on my decor project within my living room area and bedroom. She was very personable, knowledgeable, and she showed me visuals of the things we talked about!! She even wrote notes for me to keep all I had to do was listen and soak up her wisdom about designing. She was able to take my minimal ideas and bring the vision to life! She was prepared with tape measuring tools and everything. On point!! She taught me new things about decor; I felt so inspired and excited! So thankful for her time.
