About Us

Over the past 30 years, as a local painting contractor, we have been painting homes and businesses throughout the San Diego area. However, several years ago Mr. D acquired his CA General Contractor's license and many of the jobs began to include home improvements as well as interior and exterior home painting. As our business continued to expand more and more into the construction area, our name no longer fit with all the services we provide. While we still "Love to Paint" and continue to offer all of the professional home painting services you have come to depend on, we also provide an array of other home and commercial construction services, including complete kitchen and bathroom remodels, patio construction and remodels, garage remodels, plus much, much more

We couldn’t be happier with our kitchen remodel by Mr. D’s Construction Services. Owner Don Martin, Project Manager Ariel Castillo and the rest of their team were all extremely competent and professional. They listened to our goals and needs and provided good suggestions and advice throughout the project. Don understood our budget and was careful to respect it. The team was very responsive and communicated with us on a daily basis regarding the schedule. They used subs who knew what they were doing, provided quality materials, and made it a priority to fit in work for Mr. D’s clients. Ariel’s attention to detail and commitment to the overall success of the project was very apparent and appreciated. Thank you all again for a beautiful job! R & M

Don Martin and his outstanding supervisor Ariel Castillo were both excellent to deal with!! Stayed on the job until completed, timely finish, really great sub-contractors, high-quality workmanship and materials and fairly priced when considering all the items just mentioned! They really did a great job and were a pleasure to deal with. I can highly recommend Mr's D's when you are looking for a dependable, high quality workmanship and a real pleasure to deal with. Wanted to share photos and give a shout out to Mr. D’s Construction and his crew. This is the third time we’ve used this company and they never disappoint! Mr. D. also renovated my parents entire ground floor which turned out beautifully 10yrs ago. Don Martin is the owner and he has a lot of knowledge and patience. There are so many decisions to be made (counter materials, shower materials, paint colors, appliance sizes and locations as well as cabinet sizes, locations etc.) he had great suggestions on where to start selecting all of these items that go into the upgrades and renovations. Mr. D shows up to the job on a regular basis, checking on progress, bringing samples and delivering materials. He and his crew (special shout out to Ruben) understand when you are unsure and occasionally change your mind.

He provided options for where to shop for our new cabinet, sink and mirror for the bathroom remodel. His team was nice, professional and always on time and worked quickly and efficiently. Mr. D's Construction just completed a renovation of my upstairs including the remodel of two bathrooms, removal of popcorn ceiling, retexturing and painting, and painting of the entire space. The work was completed as scheduled and within projected budget. All of the members of his staff were professional and very pleasant to work with. Don was always involved and responsive and the process was absolutely wonderful. The quality of the work was excellent and I relied on the recommendations of Don and his staff to assist with planning and selection of colors/materials. I would not only high recommend this contractor but plan to use them again in the near future to remodel my downstairs.

This is the second time I have hired Mr. D's construction to help update my 1982 built house. Back in 2014, Don and his team retexturized my bedroom walls, installed ceiling lights, and added crown molding. They were so easy to work with, and their work was such high quality that I knew I would be using them for any future remodeling needs — fast forward five years. The first thing I said when I bought my house 20 years ago was that the fireplace has to go. Well, it never went until a month ago. I could not be happier with the finished project. As always, the guys were a pleasure to work with, and the finished work speaks for itself. In particular, I would like to thank Ruben for always seeming to know what I am looking for and his fantastic ideas. Thank you so much to Don and his team. I look forward to hiring you again to finish the rest of my house!

I can't say enough good things about Mr. D's Construction. Don and his crew are top-notch pros! Our project was done on time, on budget, and looks beautiful! Totally professional workmanship. I've had some bad experiences in the past with other contractors, so I was nervous at first. Now my only regret was that I didn't know about Mr. D's when we started our remodel three years ago. I'm sure he would have saved me a lot of money and time. You won't regret hiring Mr. D's for your job!

My husband and I met and hired Don, Mr. D’s Construction, after he came over and listened to my wish list. He and I walked through my home so he could see what and where I wanted improvements. Don offered other great suggestions as well that I never considered. Don was very easy to work with as I had no idea where to start. The work area of our home was cleaned up each day. Don met me at several companies to help me with selections for our home improvements. I thought I would need to hire a professional for ideas; Don listened to my wants and needs for our home function and offered ideas which made sense to me. There is no job too small for Don. If he isn’t able to complete the task he knows someone that will be able to do it. The first time-line came in at 6 weeks so we had to postpone for two months because of the holidays. His team miraculously finished in 4 weeks.
