About Us

Boutique sewing studio specializing high-end construction of Drapery, Roman Shades, Pillows, Cushions, and other soft furnishings for your home. With 15 years of professional experience, we will bring couture quality sewing and finishing to your project. We also provide on-site measuring and consultation, fabric and hardware selection, installation services, and on-site hemming services. Niki, founder of Baker Fabric Workroom, has been creating and sewing for over 20 years. Studying in Chicago, San Francisco, and Paris with a focus on pattern making, tailoring and couture sewing construction, she found herself working in a custom drapery workroom in 2007. It was there that she learned the art of making drapery from traditional methods, a discipline that can only be passed down from others in the trade. With knowledge and experience in both the fashion and home décor industries, she combines the techniques from these various disciplines to create lasting and quality products for her clients.

I highly recommend Niki wholeheartedly for any fabric work you need. We wanted to add a blackout liner to our existing drapes and Niki did an amazing job, with a very quick turnaround! She is very detail oriented and went above and beyond, cleaning up stray fabric yarns sticking out that existed previously. Niki does an awesome job and is professional, responsive, efficient, thoughtful (with time and materials), and honest (with pricing). Two thumbs up!

Niki is incredible! Over the years I have completed a number of residential projects with her. She is attentive to detail, extremely communicative and professional, and from a technical standpoint, her work as a seamstress is truly unmatched. Niki sourced fabric, cut and sewed, and installed window treatments for my workspace. We had 18 treatments in total that she created. They are lovely. She came and took measurements, brought sample books of fabrics and helped me make a decision as to what would work best for the space. We ended up doing roman shades. I have other windows that I didn't do at the time because they didn't face directly towards the sun, but I'm so happy with the results of the others, I have been waiting for the moment when I can order more. I would highly recommend her. She is skilled and highly knowledgeable. I would trust her to do any work, in any of my spaces, from home to work.
