Bill was the architect and designer on a recent renovation our Mid-Century modern home in the Kansas City area. I recommend him without reservation. The project was complicated and had a number of challenges, not the least of which were significant structural and energy efficiency issues. Another difficult goal was trying to maintain a semblance of historic accuracy while incorporating modern design and comforts. Frankly, the end result of the project exceeded my expectations. Bill is a multi-talented professional that my husband and I have worked with on various project throughout the years- ranging from our modern mid century home, to an inner city build project, and a tropical vacation home. He is versatile, transparent, organized, and personal. Above all we appreciate his honesty and dedication to his projects. Our home was built in 1888, so it came with some unique challenges. Bill had great solutions to help modernize the house that also didn't take it out of its element.

Bill Poole, of Poolehaus Residential Design, did excellent work on the design of our new home. Bill designed both a primary residence and a separate accessory dwelling unit (ADU) for us which were both completed less than two years ago. We are extremely pleased with Bill’s work and the end results. He is creative, thorough and detail oriented. He listened to us and addressed our questions and concerns down to very small details. We bought a unique lot in a redeveloping urban area. The lot presented many challenges in accommodating both our home and a separate ADU for a family member who needed an accessible home. Bill assisted us through the zoning and regulatory maze which required him to deeply familiarize himself with our complex local codes in a city where he had not done a project before. Bill was excellent to work with and created a great design. Bill is very creative and culled our many ideas into the essence of what we were after. Bill speaks of “editing” a design, and he patiently steered us into a design that had selected areas of design impact while gently dissuading us from our temptation to incorporate every feature, material, color, etc. that we had ever seen and liked. The result is a home that has a clear and consistent design theme that includes some beautiful and unique design features while also keeping things clean and simple. Having lived in the home for almost two years, we have found it to “live” very well. We highly recommend Bill.

I hired Bill to help redo our master bathroom, kitchen, and to tie in all these changes to our main level (new flooring, lighting, paint, ect). A decent sized project. I couldn't be happier with how things turned out. Bill had some great ideas. I was quite worried how everything would tie together, but the end result exceeded my expectations. He is easy to get ahold of..... reasonable rates.... provided lots of different choices of materials on different price points. I highly, highly recommend him for any project, large or small. In fact, he is helping with our next project, a new pool area to be completed next year.

Bill Poole is a highly skilled architect. I would say he specializes in modern design as that is what my husband and I are most familiar with as he designed 2 modern homes for us. His strengths are his attention to detail, his creativity and his determined attitude in striving for the best. We would describe Bill as an artist as well as an architect (a unique and valuable combination). Bill has a high degree of technical knowledge and was easy to work with. He is honest and ethical. He never missed a deadline and his fees were reasonable. We would recommend Bill highly.

We started working with Bill before we even purchased a home to renovate. My wife met him when she worked for a local PR firm, and we both really loved his portfolio. Bill came house shopping with us so he could give us an idea of the potential of each house, and it was Bill who first found the listing for what is now our home, and suggested we take a look. It’s a great, funky house from the 1970s that still oozed 70s... it had remained untouched and a bit uncared for for decades. For the past two years we've been renovating the home in phases, and are approximately 2/3 of the way through everything we set out to do. Perhaps the best praise I can give Bill Poole is to state simply that we have continued to use him in each phase of this renovation and have every intention of using him in future phases. His portfolio speaks for itself: Bill comes up with beautiful, elegant designs and finishes. But perhaps as importantly, he is a great team member beyond the initial design phase. Bill works closely with the GC, and keeps a close eye on the project to make sure it heads in the right direction. Bill communicates regularly and proactively... we've always felt in the loop. We have fairly hectic lives and schedules, and he always does a great job of using in person meetings, phone calls, emails, texts as needed to keep up with us. Bill's hours/fees are very reasonable, and his billing practices are transparent. Bill has been very involved in just about every part of our home renovation. In addition to helping us pick the home in the first place, he designed almost every aspect of our kitchen, living room, deck, and courtyard including not only structural design, but layout, materials and finishes. He even sends us furniture and art he comes across that he knows lines up with our tastes and home, and he once came over and helped me plant some trees we both thought would look nice in our yard. That said, my wife and I are very opinionated about design elements, and Bill has done a solid job taking our opinions and preferences in to his designs and finishes. So, if you want in-depth design he's great, if you want to be heavily involved in picking materials and finishes he's very accommodating. Again, we have already used him through several phases and intend to keep using him. To my way of thinking that is the highest praise I can give.
