We would not recommend this company. They did a major remodel of our 1600 sq ft. home (addition, kitchen and bath remodels, new HVAC, etc.) over 9 months. During and after construction, we experienced three avoidable water incursions– twice during roof build and replacement, despite clear storm warnings,–leading to wet hardwood floors. Then, within six weeks of completion of the kitchen remodel, a kitchen water supply shut-off valve (having not been replaced by the contractor) failed, and water leaked into walls, foundation and garage. Water remediation was required followed by the replacement of lower kitchen cabinets, wood flooring, sheetrock, and painting, at additional cost of over $20,000 and five weeks without a kitchen. Despite HB’s guarantee, they refused any responsibility for the damage or repairs. A new contractor said HB’s failure to replace those valves was “mind-boggling” and “irresponsible”. In the end, the design and workmanship produced a lovely home, but added to delays and overruns, these oversights and lack of attention to details made working with HB the most troubled and contentious project we have undertaken, among seven prior remodeling projects in four states.

Starting a home renovation is exciting, of course, but also daunting, and anxiety-inducing. Inevitably, when you chat with friends or family who have taken on a big project, you hear horror stories. You name it - over-budget, no shows, missed details, supply chain issues and time delays. When we started working with Harvest, we had those same very fears despite their reputation, because you just never know. The topline, with Harvest, we came in on time and under budget. But it is the details that matter. From day 1, Ray and Julie were honest, fair and both visionaries – as were the subcontractors they brought in to help. They are seasoned professionals that have experience with countless types of projects, sub-contractors, suppliers and key relationships that helped move our project along. Ray is a craftsman, through and through. To him, the smallest detail matters. He and Julie do everything with your specific family or situation in mind. They get to know you, your wants/needs and make decisions based on that. How you’ll uniquely function in the space is paramount to them. Ray and Julie make an excellent team – Ray as the GC, and Julie as the designer. Having them work together on our project was key in bringing our vision to life. They are both receptive, knowledgeable and creative. The jobsite was spotless, secured by a fence, and the lawn was mowed weekly by Ray himself. He expects nothing but the best from his subs, and if he’s not pleased he’ll “throw on his bags” and do it himself. Inspections were quick, as was billing. Our bid was thorough and highly accurate. Julie took my design vision and made it everything I wanted in more - touches of old and new. She supported every idea that I had and brought it to life flawlessly. Our space is beyond what we could have imagined, and we felt cared for and listened to throughout the entire process. We wouldn’t change a single thing about working with the Vaz family and Harvest builders.

Harvest Builders have been absolutely incredible to work with! They built a relationship with not only us, but our whole family (our kids love it when they visit!), and they really took the time to listen to what we wanted and used that to create spaces that turned out better than we could have imagined! Ray, Julie, and crew have helped make our home a place we never want to leave.

Ray and his crew do excellent work. Ray is incredibly responsive and always tries to find a solution that will work for the remodel/build and budget. I highly recommend Ray and his crew.

Ray managed an add-on (1100 square ft) project for us over 5 years ago. His attention to detail and quality of workmanship was great! He really put time and care into the project to give us a beautiful addition that we have definitely enjoyed over the years. He ran slightly over the timeline, but it was worth it for the quality of work we received. Plus, he was flexible when we made a change in the design plan in the middle of the project. Since then we have used him for several smaller projects.

Owners Ray and Julie Vaz re-designed/renovated our kitchen and master bathroom. They did an excellent job of providing design expertise, but in a way that allowed for our own personal touches. Ray has a ton of experience in construction and is very down-to-earth, which made us feel comfortable throughout the process. We would highly recommend them for your project.

Mr. Vaz did a fine job on the master bathroom in my home. His work shows a skillful dedication to quality workmanship. This is the second project Mr. Ray Vaz has done for me and I would not hesitate to recommend him or call him again.

Mr. Vaz was really great. He replaced all our windows, remodeled our kitchen, and did some work in the bathroom. We're really happy with the end result and the process was smooth. Remodeling is a disruption to the day-to-day life, but Mr. Vaz and his crew were pleasant and professional. We would definately hire again for future remodeling work.

We recently completed a complete remodel of a 1,200 s.f. small office with Ray and Harvest Builders. They were great to work with and very timely with construction deadlines. My old office was nearby, so I would periodically drop in to check on progress and I would almost always find Ray onsite either working on projects himself or managing the sub-contractors. I would highly recommend Harvest Builders.

I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to have Ray Vaz Construction work on my home addition in the summer of 2013. Over the last 25 years I’ve worked with many contractors, but none have come close to the level of quality and the level of trust that I have for Ray. Ray Vaz took our old early 70's home and made it into a wonderful family retreat! High Integrity, A Joy to work with, very talented! Can do everything from framing your home to the finish carpentry. Adapts well to changes, can take new ideas & make them happen. Ray Vaz puts in whatever effort is needed to get the job done well!
