RDS designed my new single family residence. Mehran is extremely knowledgeable about building codes and construction that will help you save cost and time. Rather than just giving you designs to decide on, he works closely with you to identify what you want and organically produces the final product. We had several iterations of the design including a major direction change by me far into the project. Mehran was patient throughout. He also has many great referrals you will need from civil to construction who can do great work and are cost-effective. I ended up using many of his referrals including the builder. This is a long overdue review. We had interviewed 10 architects and I can say that I couldn’t have found a better architect than Mehran. He is extremely knowledgeable, understanding, and responsive. He listened to our preferences and helped us to make the best decisions. He gave suggestions on most economical options, without compromising on the design. He and his wife, Ladan, were very patient with several iterations of the design. His designs are so detail oriented that one will get permits very fast without much comments from the city. He also recommended a professional general contractor (Rise Construction) who did high quality work within record time (2 months ahead of the completion date). I have recommended Mehran in the past and would definitely continue doing so.

I found Mehran's contact through a referral at my workplace. We were new to home-building and were looking for someone who would help guide us throughout the process. I interviewed several designers and within the first 5m of meeting Mehran at the job site, he quickly broadened the options for how our remodel + addition could look. He provided some eye-opening advice based on our preferences around open and well-lit layouts. He also discussed several ideas around budget, city code and the overall space. It was immediately clear to me then that he was the designer we wanted to work with! Luckily I was not disappointed, Mehran is very talented, full of ideas and provides great solutions when issues arise. Pre-construction, Mehran worked with me on the initial design through weekly consultations. After initial comments from the city, we decided to remove a bathroom that we originally intended to keep. This changed the design and layout quite significantly - Mehran spent several hours working with me on the redesign, often late into evenings and he still made us feel like he was having fun doing his job. Eventually, we arrived at a layout we are very very happy about. Mehran has been an excellent problem solver and has proposed several clever ideas around maximizing space usage for our home. He also spent several hours with us on the front porch design which had a few exterior design elements we wanted. During construction, the GC pointed out that some of the structural parts conflicted with the design. Mehran was always available to offer consultation and helped us out on the layout changes. We were a bit conflicted on furnace placement and Mehran accommodated the relayout, so construction didn't stall. We removed a closet late in the project and Mehran's quick thinking and problem solving helped get to a much cleaner design despite the change. Overall, I think Mehran was an excellent architect for our project and working with him was a great learning experience. Construction is still ongoing but we are very very happy with the results so far. He just made it seem all the more easier in the middle of the pandemic.

Mehran did the design for our house which was a complete remodel. He was patient and listened to all our asks and ideas and came up with great designs. In addition, he works with the city and follows up on the permit. He works with the contractor smoothly to make sure everything is properly done. He is also very reasonable in the price. I would recommend him without hesitation.

Mehran was the architect who helped us redesign our eichler home to make it more functional and add extra square footage. He did an amazing job with the design, fitting in many of our wish list items into a small square footage. The final design was so elegant and unique. And even after the design was done and approved by the city, Mehran is super responsive in helping us as we navigate the remodeling with the contractor and have questions beyond the scope of the plan. We really appreciate Mehran's aesthetics and capabilities. We are still remodeling but will add photos after.

Ladan and Mehran from RDS helped us with a whole house remodel (basically a brand new 3000 sq ft home, just reusing parts of the existing foundation). We went through multiple iterations and they never said no to any changes. They always had great input on various options we were considering. The permitting process took longer than we were hoping for. The cities seem to be overwhelmed at the moment, but Mehran was always there to help however he could. We cannot wait to see how the house turns out once it's all built. So far the construction is going well, all based on the plans prepared by RDS.

This is a long overdue review. I had the opportunity to work with Mehran on my house remodel and addition. I found him to be very knowledgeable and professional. He listened to my ideas, he suggested his own patiently. He came back to take all measurements and shortly after that send us the initial designs. This is where I think they are different than others: - Presented us multiple options as starting point - Made as many changes as we requested - After we finalized one plan, worked with us to make necessary changes. They were prompt with the changes and never said no to the changes we requested. We would not hesitate to work with. him in the future.

We are doing 700+ sq ft addition and whole home remodel. Mehran and his company helped with architecture, structure and working with city for getting the approval. During starting of project we talked to many companies, but based on his idea for our home, past work, and reference we choose Mehran. Mehran and the team have been super helpful in our renovation project (adding 400 sq ft to a 1940's House in Santa Clara). We engaged with Mehran from Rolm Design Studio on our remodeling project in Cupertino based on word of mouth recommendation. Mehran explained to us the process and gave us a very reasonable proposal for the scope of work, which included architectural, structural (we went with the one he recommended) and title 24. He also helped us assess the feasibility of the project before he proceeded to the actual design stage. He listened to our requirements for the project and our budget restrictions and came up with designs based on our requirements and also proposed other potential alternatives. Once we agreed on a design he put together the architectural plan and the project moved to the structural engineering phase. One thing I liked was that at one point we were thinking of reducing the scope of the work due to cost concerns and he still tried to accommodate as much of our original requirements into the reduced scope as possible since he wanted us to like the final output. As for addressing comments from the city, they were generally minor and he helped address all the comments from the city and resubmit the plans within our agreed timeframe. Overall, we had a very positive experience with Mehran / Rolm Design Studio and will recommend them highly.

We hired Mehran and his team to design a major remodel/expansion project for our 1960s cottage house in San Carlos. Mehran and his team were absolutely phenomenal to work with. He and his team took the time to listen and understand our abstract, but complex ideas, and they turned them into an absolutely beautiful, solid architectural plans. As with many folks in the Bay Area, we had a limited budget, but we were hoping to expand our old cottage house from a 2 BR/1 Bath to a 3 BR + 1 Office/3 Bath by adding a second floor while modernizing and opening up the existing kitchen and the external appearance. Mehran worked with us closely to understand our ever-evolving ideas and priorities, offered creative and beautiful, but concreate solutions that would not only meet our budget needs but also would go far beyond what we were hoping to achieve. Throughout the project, Mehran and his team were professional, friendly, and responsive to our questions and were always willing to incorporate our feedback and updates - consistently assuring us not to worry about our concerns of additional fee, etc. because they wanted to make sure that we would be absolutely happy with what they would deliver. General Contractors we subsequently interviewed to work on this project were universally impressed with Mehran's aspectual plans and all expressed admiration for the completeness and solid designs. We are absolutely thrilled with our experience with Mehran and his team and highly recommend them for any remodeling and/or new design projects!

We are currently working with Mehran on our single family almost new construction project. Our project is a a little complicated as we wanted to fall under additional remodelling umbrella but change pretty much 99% of everything. Mehran patiently worked with us through the architectural and structural phase conducting weekly meetings (we were out of country for most of this part), presenting several plans and accommodating changes. He is very tech savy and clearly rendered the entire home in 3D with light visulaization before we finalized the plan. This rendering part was of tremendous help to us as we were not sure of the space perspetcive. After we finalized a plan, Mehran helped draft as well get the permit from the city in two revisions. This is a great achievement given the complex category our project falls under. We are now in construction phase and the project is going as planned. We are very impressed with Mehran that we extended the contract to seek his interior design services as well. Mehran helped us design our single family home last year, and the home is currently under construction and coming out quite nice. We were lucky to find him here on Houzz - he was very reasonable, and we really liked him when we met the first time. During the design process, we had several online meetings and in person meetings, and he used to make live changes in his computer as we discussed ideas, and those meetings were super productive as he was able to quickly make the change and show us the 3D view and point out if there were any issues in our ideas. He gave us many nice ideas during the design phase, and even went to the city office for our first submission. During construction, our contractor has reached out to him for some questions and he has been very responsive. The fact that our contractor is able to directly discuss things with him makes it very easy for us. We are really thankful to Mehran for all his help during the design, and would recommend him to anyone looking to design their home.

We had good experience with Mehran overall. We designed a new home with him in Cupertino (yet to be constructed). He is patient with gathering requirements. He was flexible about meeting timings and locations. He made suggestions as necessary. We also did some design changes after first submission, and he was cooperative with that. I would recommend him for both new construction and renovations.

We recently hired Rolm Design to do the architectural design for our house addition and full renovation. Mehran is very professional and easy to work with. He did a design for two bathrooms I remodeled last year. my wife and I told him what we have in mind and he set up a nice 3D design and recommended all colors that fits. over all the project came out much nicer then we expected and we were very happy.
