My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.

About Us

Sarah Helf is an NCIDQ certified Interior Designer with nearly 20 years of experience. She entered into the design industry at a full service furniture showroom on the north side of Chicago. Her high level of design and client communication skills led her to assume the General Manager role. Soon after she was offered a position as the project manager for a high-end, residential design firm in downtown Chicago. In 2009 she begin her own business, Sarah Helf Interior Design. Projects range from three story single-family homes to one-bedroom apartments. Sarah gives her personal attention to every project and works directly with the clients and their ideas, to develop spaces that are functional, inviting and beautiful. She has currently relocated her business to Madison, Wisconsin. With a diverse portfolio she hopes to bring fresh ideas to a new client base. Sarah received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the CIDA (formerly FIDER) accredited program in the Department of Architecture and Interior Design at Miami University.

Sarah did a major living room makeover which included raising a sunken floor, adding a new solid wood floor to blend with an existing solid wood floor and working with the installers to make sure everything was exactly right. Designing the room and selecting/recommending furniture (including an 8' x 24' bookcase) and accessories including rugs, drapes and shades. She also blended several of our existing pieces into the design, We could not be happier. She also re-designed a laundry/mud room and an office snd both came out very well. Sarah is professional, knowledgible, easy to work with, has extensive contacts, and is confident in her designs (we needed a gently knudge from time to time and we are glad we listened to her). She can provide as much or as little assistance as you need. We highly recommend Sarah!

Sarah is amazing! She’s been so helpful with various projects in my home over the past few years. It started with helping me pick paint colors for our first floor, which is honey oak and very difficult to match a paint color that doesn’t change colors in our morning and afternoon sun. Next she created a beautiful office space. She’s so wonderful whether you’re starting from scratch or wanting to use some of your current pieces. Sarah will make it work so that you love it. . This spring she helped redecorate our master bedroom along with my grandchildren’s rooms. For the first time in 25 years, we love relaxing in our room. My granddaughter said “grandma it’s everything I’ve ever wanted and everything I need”. She’s five. Her brothers room is equally as nice and loves to show it off to his parents when he’s here. Sarah is so responsive, she listens to your input and gives you lots of options. I will definitely have her again when we tackle our family room remodel.

My home project was refurbishing a turn of the century bungalow. The focus being on retaining the original design features, upgrading the creature comforts, while making it feel like it grew there just for me. I couldn't have asked for more. Sarah patiently and efficiently took me through a process that has led to a design for my home that is wonderful. Her instincts and knowledge came together to orchestrate what I can only describe as the ultimate in what any man would love to surround himself with. Simple but elegant. Unpretentious yet amazing. Thanks Sarah. You nailed it!

Sarah is the best! We moved across the country and started fresh on all of our furniture and decor. Sarah pulled together a cohesive look for us that was beautiful and functional and well within our budget. There are so many pieces around our house that I absolutely love, and I fear I never would have picked on my own! She is tremendously talented and kind and thoughtful, and understands well the unique needs of a family home. We continue to hire Sarah for all of our projects as they pop up and I'm so grateful for her knowledge and expertise.

My wife and I needed some design help with a major kitchen and bath remodeling project, and Sarah did a fantastic job helping us select countertops, floor tile, backsplash, and light fixtures. She was patient, took time to learn about our style preferences, and came to the showroom to help us select items. We highly recommend Sarah and would be happy to hire her again as a design consultant.

Sarah designed me the most beautiful bedroom that has become my sanctuary (and favorite room in the house!) I asked her to design a space that was feminine and bold and happy....and she hit the nail on the head! She sourced show stopping wallpaper that gets compliments every time anyone sees it. Every single detail works together in a way that only the most skilled designer can accomplish, from the bed to the sitting area, to a gorgeous accent mirror and an amazing fireplace. Oh, did I mention she did all of this virtually?! She's truly a gifted designer and a dream to work with. I highly recommend her.

I have loved working with Sarah. She's helped me with big (master bath remodel) and smaller (interior design) projects. She is very responsive, happy to work with my style and taste, and helps me pick things that stay in my budget. I will continue to work with her on all future projects and highly recommend her!
