I chose Schmiedeberg Designs to help me conceptualize a design for a redoing my landscape in Morro Bay. I worked with Brandon and felt he truly listened to what I was trying to achieve. He brought many landscaping options to the table, his knowledge of the area and its climate really helped narrow the search for appropriate plants & materials. His layout design was detailed and precise. Highly recommend!

Brandon was great to work with the whole process through conceptual to final plans. He seemed very knowledgeable about plants, drainage, and retaining walls, which is the main reason we were needing to redo our backyard. We will see how the plan holds up after the first rain. But all in all, he was patient and professional, and answered lots of questions and gave us good recommendations for finishes as well.

In the aftermath of California's drought, like many homeowners we were looking for attractive, drought tolerant alternatives. We spend a lot of time outdoors, and our dying lawn and aging decks were depressing. We knew we were done with lawns, wooden decks, and had some other landscape problems that needed addressing--e.g., an old tree too close to the house and an unobstructed view of our back neighbor's poorly kept property. With only these rough guidelines, we hired Schmiedeberg Designs and turned them loose to propose a design. There were several aspects of our interaction with Brandon that we really appreciated: 1) he was very prompt in turning around plan revisions, of which there were several and 2) his cost estimates were very accurate. In short, we were thrilled with the entire package. Not only was the design itself pleasing, but the plans were detailed, comprehensive, and made implementation easy. We love our new back yard already and are looking forward with great anticipation to the trees, shrubs, and flowers maturing. After two years of an ugly back yard we can once again enjoy spending time in our own personal refuge. Note: Originally it was our plan to install artificial turf at the end of the decomposed granite path. We changed our minds and decided to put in a vegetable garden instead but because it was too late in the summer to do so, we elected to postpone that piece until next summer. Hence the "Path To Nowhere" ;-)
