My husband and I hired Groundswell Designs to get a new look for our home. Our landscaping was 20 years old and very overgrown and dated. Shawn listened to our ideas and came up with an amazing design plan for our gardens. Our house now has a very interesting approach to the front door and it has a fresh new look and feel. We can't say enough about Shawn's creativity, attention to detail and also how she followed up with us after the project to see how all of our plants and trees were doing. We were also very impressed with the installation crew she brought in. These were professional landscapers who knew exactly what they were doing; they followed Shawn's instructions to a tee and cleaned the work area after each day of work. Shawn thinks out-of-the-box which we believe is a contributing factor in her very impressive garden designs. We wouldn't think twice about recommending Groundswell Designs. Shawn has been a pleasure to work with.

Shawn is a true artist with landscape design. She did a great job incorporating our wants and needs with her ideas and suggestions to create a wonderful “zen like” space for us to spend time in. Our front yard was very unappealing and needed a facelift. We now love going outside to see what has evolved overnite, over days and weeks. We are not gardeners but love the hardy trees and plants used to make upkeep easy.

Shawn designed a complete landscape plan for our one-half acre coastal property incorporating significant stone walls and an extensive hardscape and outdoor kitchen area. We are very pleased with the outcome and working with Shawn was very easy. She was onsite regularly during the four month construction period and worked well with the landscape construction company she sourced.

We absolutely love our new outdoor space! Shawn is very professional, her team is very efficient and hard working. The project was finished within the time frame as promised. The team was very skilled at working with large machinery within a small space! Shawn worked really hard to stay within budget, helping us to choose various materials to stay on track. We could not be more happy with our new space, and we have been entertaining since the project was completed!

Groundswell Designs made the process of enhancing our landscaping fun and worry-free. From concept to final design to installation, Shawn and her team were a pleasure to work with and on top of every detail. I enjoyed working with Shawn on my landscaping project earlier this year. I wanted a natural landscape with no turf grass and mostly native shrubs and trees. She presented three excellent options and the design we chose fit my requirements perfectly. We're now working together on some minor tweaks, including additional native plants. The installer she recommended also did a great job.

We hired Shawn based on personal recommendations and were not disappointed. Her ideas are innovative, practical and creative. She really listened to us as homeowners and asked a lot of questions to be sure she understood what we were really looking for. It is always great working with Shawn! She is professional, experienced and knowledgable. In her plant choices she focuses on non invasive plants, always thinking about what is best for our environment and the location, and client's needs. I was not the easiest client, being picky and not incredibly knowledgable on plant species and how to arrange them; she was always patient and helped to educate me. Shawn is detail oriented, very organized and gives the client lots of information and advice; worth every penny! I would highly recommend Groundswell Designs to anyone that I know.

Shawn Mayers of Groundswell Designs is a friendly and knowledgeable landscape designer who can be extremely helpful in planning and executing a landscape project. She knows the plant species of the Northeast extremely well and knows which are suited to what conditions so that the finished landscape project will thrive and mature beautifully. We engaged her to help us on a pool, garden and cabana project for a lovely nineteenth century Newport mansion on the water. The end product came out beautifully and we were pleased to have her assistance!

Shawn and her installation crew did an outstanding job. Her professionalism was apparent during the project implementation ... her estimates were right in line with the final cost, the job was done efficiently and on time, and she was flexible and helpful with the inevitable changes that need to be made as a landscaping project evolves. I found her to be extremely knowledgeable in all phases of landscaping : design, plant and hardscape selection, terrain and pest challenges, and the ability to implement the plan consistent with our combined visions. Best of all, she was a pleasure to work with and made the process stress free !

I can't say enough about our engagement with Shawn. She was creative, coming up with multiple concept designs to address the various inputs from our family then melding them into a cohesive design; her work ethic and timeliness were exemplary, and she added special touches that made us value her work even more. She worked together with us and her contractors to come up with alternatives to keep the work within our cost parameters without us ever feeling that we had to do the most expensive option. The contractors she brought in to do the work did an excellent job which she managed for us - for off-site owners, the only way to go! She chose plants that addressed our wants and needs but with the flair characteristic of someone who knows plants well so the gardens will be "native" but never pedestrian. She was thorough and a total joy to work with. We are excited to revel in our new backyard this summer!
