Stalburg Design

I can't say enough! We are building a semi-custom home who has their own designer. We engaged Barbi to help make sure we were making the best possible decisions (neither my wife nor I are designers). We could not be more happy we made this decision to engage Barbi. Barbi listened to our needs and wants and she worked with the builder's designer as a partner making sure our design fit us. They worked so well together they could not share enough compliments about each other - mutual respect. The bottom line is that we implemented better design decisions that we would not have done without Barbi's help. Asking questions and listening are the key. Are you building? Engage Barbi!

Barbi helped me redesign my home office, and I’m very happy with the results. She and her team were professional, responsive, and easy to work with throughout the project. The custom work they coordinated was high quality for my somewhat tricky home, and I appreciated that Barbi looked for opportunities to reuse furniture I already owned rather than simply encouraging me to buy new pieces. It felt like the recommendations were made with my goals and budget in mind. I'm really happy with how everything has come together. I would gladly work with Barbi again and recommend her to others looking for design help.

Sara and Barbi made what felt like a very overwhelming renovation project go as seamlessly as possible. I appreciated their willingness to allow my design influences into the project. We had to rearrange plans several times and overall budget once. They never missed a beat! It was a pleasant and collaborative effort. We will be forever grateful for the knowledge learned, and the friendship that was born. We have a second story to die for! I would highly recommend Stalburg!

Amazing work! Professional, great design, great contractors, and amazing servic. We love our new bathroom and our so happy. Thank you for the great work!

I can't say enough great things about Sara and Barbi and the whole team at Stalburg Design. We hired them for our kitchen renovation. Their design ideas were not only stunning, but thoughtful. creative and practical. Sara really took the time to understand how my family lives and design a kitchen around it. She respected and worked with our budget and often was able to come up with creative ways to save money. Communication throughout the project was clear and consistent and the team was extremely organized, on schedule and kept everything moving smoothly which is very important during a kitchen renovation! The finished kitchen is everything we hoped for and more and we feel lucky every morning we come downstairs to it! We would certainly hire the team again for our next project.

I am so thrilled with the results of my recent project! Barbi and Vanessa are wonderful to work with- they are professional, caring, and super talented. Everything turned out even better than I could hope for. Highly recommend this design firm.

Barbi and the entire team at Stalburg Design are true professionals and bring talent and taste to all they do. We trust them and their process in every way. Our home is exactly how we hoped it would be, but neither could have imagined nor have known how to make happen ourselves! Barbi's style is collaborative, transparent, kind, and energizing. She is equally excellent at envisioning an entire project as she is ensuring every detail is as it should be. She has built solid relationships with her network of vendors which ensures top-quality products and levels of service that we certainly benefited from as her clients. We can't recommend her or her team any more highly than we do!

We have worked with Barbi and her team on numerous projects for nearly 5-years now and it has been a complete privilege to do so. Her projects, as you would expect range in style and complexity but are always well organized and managed with the utmost professionalism. Barbi & her designers know their stuff as evidenced by the wall of awards in their office. Her clients are given realistic expectations from the beginning and that establishes a foundation that carries through until completion. When typical project challenges pop up along the way, they are handled with a professional calm that keeps the client focused on the end result, which is always spectacular! I very much look forward to growing the relationship into the future.

Sara and Barbi saved the day! We had issues with our builder and Sara stepped up and championed the project to ensure world-class quality. She's a pro - very thorough communication, timely, acute attention to detail and a pleasure to work with. The end result is fabulous and we couldn't be happier in our "new" home. A big thank you to Sara and Barbi!

Sara at Stalburg Design has helped me turn my house into an elegant home with a uniquely beautiful and functional kitchen and a bar that is the envy of all my friends. After an initial conversation about my project, she quickly understood not only what I wanted, but completely understood my style--probably even better than I do. Her knowledge of artisans and vendors helped me source gorgeous materials, finishes, and furniture. And she personally designed some of the most spectacular elements of my renovation, including the marble-wrapped hood in my kitchen and the floor-to-ceiling fireplace surround in my great room. It is an absolute pleasure to work with Sara--she has become a trusted friend and partner on everything for my home. I can't wait to work on additional home renovation projects with her.

We moved into a new home and Sara made our new home feel like our home. Her vision for each room made the space unique but still feel cohesive to our overall design. She is creative, professional and has a wonderful sense of style. Sara took my vision and elevated the design with texture and color to create a timeless feel. She has an attention to detail that is evident in all her suggestions. Each room came together beautifully bringing the furniture, rug, lighting, windows and accessories together. I look forward to working with Sara on many projects in the future as we continue to finish the house.

Barbi and her team are excellent professionals to work with. They helped us turn our DC row house into the kind of home we always wanted, helping find the right furniture, style, and professionals to bring it all together. The team is always communicative, transparent, and a pleasure to invite into our home.

I was in the early stages of remodeling two bathrooms and it was my first time using Houzz to find a designer. After describing my project, Barbi reached out to me and immediately made me comfortable with the process and impressed me with her enthusiasm - and of course, her wonderful aesthetic sensibility. We had a terrific in-person meeting to go over my project. Alas, we didn't get to work together because of the logistics of my building. But I'm a huge fan of her work and will look forward to collaborating on my next project.

Thank you for your keen artistic sense and openness in suggesting ideas. Being math teachers we weren’t looking for extravagant and you read us well.

Sara and Barbi helped me create my living room, bedroom, office and kitchen eating area and I am extremely pleased with the results. They are very hard working, extremely knowledgeable, and create a real team effort with the client. I recommend them whole heartedly!

Working with Barbie and Stalburg design has been an absolute pleasure. Renovating an older home took patience, knowledge, skill and vision. Barbie has it all, She understood our every need and desire, She brought us great ideas and suggestions, has a great eye for detail and found the perfect furniture for our busy house filled with kids and pets. This was a most enjoyable experience. We are totally thrilled with our new dream home . Thank you Barbie and the entire team at Stalburg Design.

Barbi is a talented designer with a great eye and she is also a lovely person to work with. Smart, friendly, open and a good listener also, Barbi helped me with decorating my one-bedroom Kalorama condo that needed sprucing up. An architect as well as a designer, she was terrific at knowing what looks good where and how to make the most of my smaller home in a historic building. She also is knowledgeable about fine art; I was most impressed with her steering me towards a particular painting and the perfect frame to go with it. In addition, she guided me along the way when it came to vintage glass, antiques and more -whether online or in person shopping. I look forward to the next project with Barbi, and I know we'll stay in touch in between. Highly recommend!

Stalburg Design were helpful throughout the entire process of my parents’ kitchen renovation. Tone took the time to go to different stores multiple times and come by the house in order to help them bring to life the kitchen they wanted. Stalburg was easy + efficient to work with and helped in managing the communication with the general contractor!

Barbi and Tina are very knowledgeable and always ready to help you whether it be finding a unique item you need or communicating with builder. They are prompt in their response and bring to you the bright ideas for your project. They respect your input rather than forcing their ideas. Our kitchen looks great and we will be staring renovation upstairs pretty soon.

My wife Robin and I worked with Stalburg Design (Barbi and Tina) on our remodel project. Robin said it best: We were so grateful for Barbi and Tina's assistance! Our remodel turned out better than we could ever dream of. We remodeled a kitchen, family room, living room, dining room, and 3 bathrooms. Between room layout, cabinets, light fixtures, rugs/carpet, paint colors, hardware and furniture, one's mind would be spinning. Barbi and Tina were the key to all of it coming together so beautifully and effortlessly. Barbi created vision boards to help picture what our rooms would look like and Tina is very honest about what will work well and what just flat out doesn't work in the area. Thank you ladies for creating such a warm, relaxing and welcoming home for our family!

We worked with Stalburg Design on a home renovation in 2021. Barbi led the effort to reconfigure our 1950s era house into the perfect space for us. She made sure the spaces reflected our own design style, but also opened us up to new and interesting design choices. We absolutely love our kitchen and are happy every day to wake up to our new house!

Working with Tina is a dream come true! Emails are returned promptly as well as text messages. She is not pushy with designs but very helpful steering you in the right direction. I'd recommend Tina for both small and major projects!

We worked with Barbi and Sara over the past year and a half and they have been wonderful. We renovated a powder room and recreated the spaces in our family room, master bedroom, dining room and office. They are responsive and communicate well. They are friendly and professional, and their eye for style is unmatched!

Barbi and her group were outstanding to work with. They made our project a fun, fantastic experience. The stress level was always reduced after a call, email or visit to the house or design center. The architectural and design expertise that they brought to the project allowed us to complete our renovation to our great satisfaction and delight! I/we would highly recommend Barbi and her team. Simply the best!

Working with Barbi and Tina has been an incredible collaborative experience. They understood what we wanted, even when we didn't know what we wanted and they helped us move out of our comfort zone. Our new home is pretty spectacular thanks to Stalburg Design. They become our best friends over the past year and they'll become yours too.

Barbi and Tina at Stalburg Design are, in my opinion, extraordinary interior designers. They are pleasant, responsible, creative, able to think out of the box and find alternative solutions when necessary. They are versatile, whether your taste is traditional or contemporary, they have the knowledge and resources to present clients with exceptional ideas in how to bring, furniture, lighting, carpet, paint, etc… together in one room. I recently had the pleasure of redecorating my condo with Barbi and Tina’s help. I enjoyed working with them. They are organized, and thorough in everything they do from bringing ideas together to ordering, tracking and billing. Thank you Barbi and Tina, for your time, thoughts, ideas and support!!!

Barbi and Tina have loads of good ideas and resources to deliver them! Furniture, hardware, mirrors - all of the touches you need for a renovation. Really appreciate Tina’s willingness to deliver items and drop by to offer advice.

Barbi and Tina have been wonderful. We love their polished style and comprehensive service. As first time homebuyers, my husband and I were overwhelmed at the idea of decorating a new home and truly making it ours. Barbi and Tina helped us discover our aesthetic and guided us through every detail. They bring with them not just interior design expertise, but also architecture and construction expertise. Their knowledge and trade tips are vast and almost nothing catches them off guard. They have instrumental connections and long established relationships with various industry members. They were approachable, easy to work with, creative, and responsive from the start. We love our home and their contributions to it!

Working with Barbi and her team was an absolute delight. She was able to bring ideas into the discussion that we would have never considered without her guidance. Barbi showed us a willingness to work with the various budget ideas that we presented and was also able to incorporate existing pieces into our interior design plan. We highly recommend working with Barbi and look forward to our upcoming second project.

We worked with Stalburg Design on a kitchen renovation in 2019. Barbi gave us the perfect amount of guidance to make sure we retained our own style but could feel confident that we were making good decisions, and that those decisions would add up to holistically cohesive design. On top of that, Barbi was an incredible advocate for us. We always felt like she had our best interests at heart and would push for the best possible outcomes with our vendors and construction partner. We enjoyed working with her so much, we're about to do it again!

Barbi is very professional and attentive. For the first time in years, I have sent time in my living room thanks to her. The furniture selection process was easy and enjoyable. She provided some choices but not so many that I became overwelmed. I would highly recommend her to anyone and am looking forward to working on more projects with her.

We have worked with Stahlburg Design over the last year to transform our new house into our dream home; it was a completed new build, but we needed to conceptualize and execute an interior design that reflects our family's personality and fits our lifestyle. When we interviewed Barbi (after meeting many other designers), we immediately felt she was uniquely real, understood our attitudes and aspirations, and would steer us in the right direction while also respecting our opinions, constraints and needs. This hunch has proven to be true; the partnership with Barbi and her firm has been fantastic. We have strong opinions and can be finicky, and Barbi is direct and honest while also being patient and respectful. She has helped us furnish almost every room in the house in a way that reflects us, helped us invest in the right places and economize in others, and been an amazing sounding board for all kinds of ideas. She has also worked through tricky vendor situations and advocated on our behalf. Overall, we are very happy with Stahlburg Design, have recommended Barbi and team to friends, and will continue to work with them on future projects.

Barbi was amazing to work with! Before hiring her, I was so overwhelmed by the decisions that needed to be made and I was paralyzed by fear. She was able to help me hone in on choices when I didn’t know where to start but also validate things that I loved but was scared to move forward with in case I was making a “mistake”. She has a great creative eye but is also very practical and has amazing relationships with vendors. She is also extremely organized and has a great team supporting her! I just wish we had hired her from day 1 of our project instead of mid way through. I would highly recommend her!

Barbi is personable, professional, energetic and extremely organized. From the moment I met her, I could see how passionate she is about her work. It is apparent how much she loves what she does. Barbi helped me with selections on a new construction project. She was efficient and cognizant of my budget. Everything was well documented and presented in a clear, organized fashion. She always responded quickly to my questions and made the selection process more fun and less overwhelming! When issues arose, I could call her and she jumped right in and was able to easily come up with suggestions. Barbi is honest, easy to work with and great at what she does. I would highly recommend Stalburg Design to anyone who is considering remodeling or building a new home.

This was our first major home renovation so we really weren’t familiar with the “ideal process”. We started by hiring an architect. Then our friends introduced us to Barbi after our drawings were complete. Barbi has an amazing vision for usage of space. She suggested some changes to the layout of our master suite, and we are so happy with the way it turned out. She coached me through the tile, flooring, plumbing, etc selections and made me feel confident with my ultimate choices.

Barbi and i have worked together on several projects over the last 3 years. She is professional, talented, organized, and has a great eye for space and finishes. I enjoy working with her because, as a builder she makes my life so much easier as she walks our Clients through the process of design and selecting of the finishes for their project. I couldn't say enough how much I recommend Barbi for your next project!

When working with Barbi and her team at Stalburg Designs, it is immediately apparent how much they care for their work, and their clients. They are true visionaries and their work & awards, speak for themselves. As a custom woodworking company, we have worked together on many projects. Time and again, we are impressed with the design transformations she creates. We have seen her ability to form trusting relationships with her clients & her colleagues through organization, communication, & efficiency. If you are looking for a company to take your vision and turn it in to a reality, Stalburg designs is the way to go.

Barbi and her amazing team at Stalburg design created such an incredible dream space for our tween daughter. Barbi’s eye for detail, her creativity, her advanced knowledge for design and architectural expertise helped to create a sanctuary that my daughter can grow into her young adult years without needing to change a thing! We did a complete remodel of her bathroom including shower, tile, door, cabinetry, lighting etc as well as new flooring (amazing luxury vinyl) throughout her bedroom area, with a study niche—desk, windows, lighting, window treatments, paint, curtains, new dressers and bed! It was a huge job (we even repainted hallway, two bedrooms and restrained hallway wood floors)! Barbi and her crew were beyond organized...the job was done much quicker that we could’ve imagined-a couple months tops! We would highly recommend this team of incredibly creative and knowledgeable people to do any room! I want to now redo my entire house...but for now maybe just move into my daughters incredible space.

When it comes to having someone create a design on paper that you have visioned in your mind is really an art of listening and intuitive creativity. I hired Stalburg Design to help me design the layout of my new office space. I needed a layout that was hard to explain. Barbi (the owner) who I’ve known personally and professionally for 10 + years took her time to help me see my vision. She took in all of my concerns, provided such helpful feedback and created a design that made me glow with joy. Her eye for design and style is impeccable. Thank you for helping me do the work I love!

We initially came to Stalburg Design for a kitchen, master bath and kids’ bath remodel. Barbi embraced our design ideas and brought her architectural and design talent, experience and enthusiasm to the table for us! She has a great, professional team and access to top contractors and suppliers. We absolutely love our new spaces, and in the process of creating them, Stalburg Design helped us reenvision the function and layout of almost every room in our house, even those not being remodeled. We couldn’t be happier with the results and are now maximizing every inch of our home.

Barbi and her team at Stalburg Design are an incredible group of talented designers who go above and beyond for not only their clients, but their subs as well. I’ve had the opportunity to work with Stalburg Design on a couple projects needing renderings. Barbi, Jen, and Tina were available for questions and coordinating, along with providing the necessary details to turn the renderings around quickly. I would definitely recommend working with these incredibly talented designers, you won’t regret it!

Working with Stalburg Design is a pleasure. Barbi and her staff go overboard to bring their customers' visions to life and as a builder, I can't tell you how much I appreciate the communication and the teamwork that is part of Stalburg's corporate culture.

Barbi and her staff were professional and great to work with on the bathroom and kitchen remodel in a let 1800s 600ft2 carriage house. Barbi created a great design working within our budget by delivering high value and aesthetic appeal. They were interested in my suggestions (even last minute) and worked hard to accommodate them when technically feasible and explain to me when and why it didn’t make sense. We have and continue to highly recommend the firm.

BEST decision I ever made was using this company! So professional and extremely creative! The owner, Barbi, is AMAZING!!!! This company is the Best of the Best!

Barbi is a high energy creative person who can work magic in both small and large spaces. Her design is beautiful and also livable. I enjoyed working with her and think anyone would find her enthusiasm infectious!

The Stalburg Design team took our project to a whole new level. They understood our vision from the beginning and listened to all of our ideas. They pushed us out of our comfort zone in all the right areas. We underwent a full house remodel that was in design for over a year and building phase for 7 months. I would not change a thing. I walk around feeling like I am in a professional houzz photo shoot all the time. I would work with this company again anytime and still consult with them on smaller decorating struggles to this day. They are kind and good people and definitely well worth our money spent. Hopefully I can add some more pictures of the exterior soon and figure out why 2 of my photos are turning when they are not saved sideways but you will get the idea.

Barbi and her team were the ultimate team. Their designs were fresh and innovative. Barbi asked many questions to understand the styles and worked directly with us at multiple stores throughout the entire process of picking all finishings of all sorts. She not only guided us, but brought new ideas that we never thought of. Her detail to colors, finishes, styles, harmony, functionality and beauty were wonderfully thorough and the end result was an absolutely stunning house. The project entailed remodeling an entire house to the extent of combining bathrooms, moving bathrooms and walls, changing out flooring throughout, changing windows to doors, putting doors where none existed, changing lighting throughout, removing walls, painting, tiling, plumbing, lighting, cabinetry, hardware and more. It was an entire gut and restyle of the house. Barbi's expertise and vision and experience all came together in a wonderful triad of perfection from the design side. The house is absolutely beautiful. If you're looking for a designer that has a great vision and knows how to read a customer, then Barbi is your first choice. If we were to do another project, I would call no other than Barbi. She's definitely a high quality person and runs a high quality business. I just can't say this enough (and I don't say it often). Fantastic result Barbi! We'd love to work with you again!!!!

My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Barbi on our kitchen remodel project. With her professionalism and ability to think outside the box, she came up with a variety of kitchen layout ideas that met all of our requests for function, storage needs and budget. Barbi and her team work productively and efficiently, looking at all details. The team had great communication skills with us and other trade persons on the project. Her knowledge of material, products and connections within the industry allowed us to fulfill our project goals. Couldn't be happier with BSB Design!

I had a great experience with Barbara during the design phase for my kitchen. She and her staff had great ideas, creative vision and high levels of professionalism. They provided plans for an amazing upgrade of a small space and fresh suggestions for a complete project. I was looking for someone to take the reigns and they surpassed my expectations. I would highly recommend BSB Design for projects big and small.

Barbi is AWESOME!! Extremely creative and an "out-of-the-box" thinker. She's great at incorporating existing items with new ones and pulling everything together. Our project is on-going - we developed a plan and little by little we're updating our home. We appreciate Barbi's patience as well as her respecting our budget!

Barbi is the best there is when it comes to design and planning services! She is creative, intelligent, fun and not afraid to take that risk that will pay off in big ways design-wise. As a professional kitchen and bath vendor I have worked with many interior designers and Barbi has, by far, the best grasp of space I have seen. She knows how to create impact and function in tricky rooms, both large and small . When it comes to creative problem solving, Barbi excels with calm and confidence. Her ascetic is elegant, yet unpretentious. BSB designed spaces make you want to stay and linger just a little longer to soak it all up! A huge plus: Barbi is an utter joy to work with!

Barbi did a fantastic job with our new Royal Oak project! Her attention to detail to match warm and inviting textures and fabrics into an industrial space gave us the perfect aesthetic that's engaging where everyone feels comfortable and it's still sophisticated. Her scope of work included furniture selection, lightening, staging, etc. We would highly recommend her on any remodel, decorating or design project!

Barbara S. Bell Design came to our rescue after a frozen pipe burst in the cold of winter then rained on our kitchen with no one home for more than 3-hours! Our kitchen had to be gutted to the studs, we didn't know where to turn. From the very beginning Barbi S. Bell lifted our spirits and made us feel like everything was going to be ok. She came up with a plan, a drawing pretty quickly. She knew all the best trades people...and within days we got started. There was demolition and renovation, there were cabinets and counters to order and every bit of hardware and trim and tile, flooring and paint and Barbi knew where to go to get what we needed and was with us or in contact with us at every turn. We worked together and made some changes and one of Barbi's qualities I feel is so important is that she recognized right away what we liked and didn't like and while she encouraged us to take a few "risks", she never pushed and she absolutely wanted us to be happy with the outcome, in fact when our kitchen started to come together and look so beautiful, I believe she was almost as excited as we were. There were a few "bumps" in the road to completion and a few delays but when you are juggling all the different trades and working on such a huge project, that is unavoidable and to be expected and if something wasn't getting done or right, Barbi worked with me to investigate why...and she would make sure it was corrected. Barbi S. Bell is an award winning designer with amazing insight and taste and I know she would be a great help to anyone who is re-doing, renovating or starting from scratch. She is someone we desperately needed and hired to help us...and now we consider her a friend. Writing a review for Barbi is easy really because she is so good plus it's a way for us to say "Thank You"!!

Barbi Bell is one of the most talented people I have ever worked with. She listens to the client and is adept at identifying the client's style and needs. She is a superb designer and architect who transformed our basement into a magnificent lower level that we will enjoy for many years. She reconceptualized the entire living space. I will continue to use her for all our home design/decorating needs- both big and small projects. She is an absolute delight to work with!

Barbara is an excellent designer. She really listens to her client’s needs and wants to help them design the perfect space. Barbara is a very talented designer with amazing ideas. She does an outstanding job coordinating all the materials on the job to make sure everything looks perfect. Her jobs are unique, outstanding and beautiful.

Barbi is an amazing professional who listens carefully to what her client wants then offers suggestions to meet our need and expand our thinking. She has a flare for the creative and an amazing sense of design. She has inspired us in several rooms and we will be using her services to assist us when we begin our projects.

We used Barbara S. Bell designs for redesigning our kitchen cabinets. We loved working with her. She was quick, attentive and always on time. Very knowledgeable about materials too. The job got done before the due date.

I have worked with Barbara S. Bell for 8 years. Barbara works very hard for her clients. She is always professional and caring. Her designs are stunning and innovative. Barbara's understanding of all aspects of the building project are far superior than a typical Interior Designer. She is able to incorporate functional and structural components along with the overall design. Our projects always run smoothly and the clients are always happy with their outcome. I attribute this to Barbara's education, experience and amazing personality. I absolutely love working with her and look forward to working with her for many years to come.

I love the use of different textures, patterns clean sleek designs that BSB Design brings to the table. Sometimes when you are second guessing yourself at Home Depot while trying to do a DYI project....the light might go off in your head that you are in over your head and should really hire a professional. Bring your ideas to her, big or small, she can jump off you original vision take it to the next level. She comes up with ideas you didn't even knew existed. She has a trained eye for space planning, excellent vision of color theory of what will work with your existing decor. Or give her a blank canvas and see what masterpiece she delivers. And with a few meetings at Starbucks and at the tile shop, she will deliver to you, your HAPPY PLACE.

Ms. Bell designed our kitchen She was able to create a more functional. open kitchen plan blending it into the nearby hearth room. The process went smoothly and quickly with minimal interruption in our home. She understood my style and did not overwhelm me with choices. She provided us with a space that will always look fresh with a few simple changes like updating banquette pillows. Very easy to work with. Highly recommend.

Barbara S. Design helped with the interior design of my Yoga Studio. Because of Barbi's vision, experience, talent, understanding of my vision, dedication and involvement, my yoga studio is beautiful, functional and exactly what I wanted. I can't express enough how pleased I was with this company. Using this company was one of the best decisions I made for my business. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for a professional, talented, experienced and dedicated designer.
