Steve has completed several projects for us. His work is impeccable. He created glazes for our main living space that gave us the old world feel we were looking for, but still imbued everything a light and airy feeling. The Venetian plaster in the dining room is lovely and always highly complimented. He just finished the guest bedroom suites with a harmony of glazes, washes and metallics. He definitely understands how to work with his materials and custom colors to bring a luxurious elegance that is still infinitely livable. As far as working style, Steve is incredibly neat and organized. He contained his materials and tools to his workspace, which was very helpful as we were living in the house as he worked. Perhaps one of the best things about working with Steve is his willingness to listen, collaborate and advise. I relied on him for his skill, knowledge and experience. He heard us, which ensured the end result reflected our home.

I am a general contractor in Santa Fe, NM. Steve helped us restore plaster walls in an older home here. The walls were damaged in different rooms by water stains, smoke damage from the fireplace, and cracks. The owner was not up for replastering the walls, which can be very expensive. Steve restored to walls to match exactly with the existing, undamaged plaster. Thanks, Steve!

Steve Martell was the best house painter we have ever hired. He has done both interior and exterior work for us. His work is distinctive and top-flight due to his mastery of color and the quality of the application. Our exterior trim work was difficult: a pre-'20's rock bungalow with aged paint on 20+ windows and doors. With Steve's guidance, the six trim colors were winnowed down to a sophisticated but lively two, enhancing both our pleasure and the value of our house. He has a deep knowledge of paint color and contexts, quality of light and different exposures and a wonderful ability to translate what we want into a finished surface. His prep is meticulous and his application impeccable.
