Lori Sutherland Burns from Studio Ten Interior Design was recommended to us by our architect. After meeting with her we knew right away that she was the right person to help us with our custom built home. We had some ideas but weren't sure how everything would come together. Lori listened to our ideas and provided helpful advice and in some cases better alternatives. She is very talented, creative and passionate and was able to bring our ideas to life. She worked closely with our builder to resolve any problems that arose. Since I am not a visual person she provided us with 3D drawings which helped us visualize the exterior of the house and the kitchen layout. This was incredibly helpful. Lori was always available to answer any questions we had. She is super personable. We would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for an interior designer. Designing and building a house can be an overwhelming and stressful experience. Having an awesome team player like Lori on your side will help keep the stress to a minimum.

I never thought I would have the opportunity to work with Lori while watching from the sidelines as I witnessed her practice / career grow steadily over the past 12 of 25 years. You see, Lori was a volunteer designer on a home tour volunteer committee of which I managed on behalf of a national children’s charity. I was always so impressed at her level-headed approach to committee matters that often looked like they were headed sideways, a case of too many volunteer designers in the kitchen. Lending her vast design experience (the most senior interior designer on the committee of twelve) and passion for the cause, I was so very grateful to have her support. I watched Lori rise to the challenge, decorating homes that homeowners so generously put on tour, often dealing with personality’s that required the kid glove treatment. She is so very diplomatic. And then I watched her decorate a home that she had herself designed and all I can say is WOW!! Getting to know Lori over the years has been a gift, she is a wonderful person, gifted designer and cares for her community. Fast forward: right from the start I knew I wanted to have Lori on my team as now it was my turn to build a “dream home” with my partner, a custom designed home on acreage in the country. Pre construction, standing in the field, overlooking the landscape she knew immediately without hesitation, where the home needed to be placed and how it would rise out of the ground. We all shared the same vison to include architect, builder and Lori, my interior designer. My Dream Team!! With any project, a clear understanding of the objectives is critical, and Lori sparred no time getting to know us and our lifestyle. Our likes and dislikes right down to our preference to coffee. NO kidding, French press or Nespresso, small detail but it kick starts you day so you better get it right. Attention to detail with no detail too small, her standard is set very high. Living on our property while under construction meant we got to know everyone on site and while try, we were often under foot so to speak. It was a great experience as the trades, all very talented, had so much respect for Lori. She was new to the build team, and they embraced her designs and materials; they loved working with her and her fresh design concepts. While covid did present a challenge with supply, Lori continued to pursue options and follow up to keep the project moving. She had to, we were living onsite in a 40” trailer with 2 puppies, labs that were growing overnight, so it seemed. End result: over the moon happy Would I do it again, YES, with Lori!!

We discovered Studio Ten through their Houzz site. We liked what we saw, so we contacted Lori, originally to assist with a renovation we were planning. But then we changed our mind and decided to build a new house. Lori was kind enough to recommend a house designer and a contractor, both of which we hired and they turned out to be awesome. Of course we also hired Studio Ten to do all the Interior Design. Lori and her crew did all the interior design work and also assisted with exterior colours and lighting. Their drawings were detailed and when needed, included 3D renderings. They did everything for us - paint colours, wall papers, moldings, trim work, flooring, light fixtures, bathroom fixtures, etc. Lori even helped us pick the new furniture we needed. Most important, Lori initially spent the time with us to determine what we liked and didn't like and designed accordingly. We could not be happier with the final outcome. Thank you Lori.

We had an exceptional experience working with Lori during our whole house renovation. At the beginning of the project she listened carefully and asked the right questions to get the information she needed to create a design that was beyond gorgeous and that we love. Lori was responsible for leading what started as a small home reno project into a full home overhaul full stop. Her imagination and corresponding design are second to none. Her instincts on every component of the design process were outstanding. She’s incredibly thoughtful and collaborative, although we usually found it best to just defer to her on choices as she delivered the best result every time. My husband and I bought our first home this autumn and wanted to create a modern but also comfortable space. Lori and her team were wonderful at helping us pick our paint colours, create feature walls, and integrate our existing furniture into our new space. What I also found helpful was that Lori graciously arranged handymen, blinds installation, and painters for us who were very professional and did a wonderful job. My husband and I hired Studio Ten to help us transform our basement into a gym/spa/tv room. Lori was very easy to work with she listened to our needs and wants and put that to paper. Her drawings of our basement were exactly what we had envisioned. Lori then helped us with the decorating, our basement is absolutely beautiful! We were so pleased the way it turned out we hired Studio Ten again to help us with our his and her closets. My closet is one of my favourite rooms in our house! Thank you so much Lori!!!

Lori has been an absolute joy to work with. She is very down to earth and has a great sense of humor. She is very professional, always on top of everything and can solve any problems very quickly.
