'we have had four projects provided by Tantalus: a custom cutting board insert for our mobile kitchen island, a stand-alone cutting board, a treasure cylinder, and a pepper mill. Each project over these last few months has exceeded our expectations. Tantalus is meticulous and cares deeply about their clients.

I was recommended to use Tantalus Design by our professional carpenter who is doing various renovations at our home. What really impressed me with their services, is that they took on sanding a large fir live edge slab (8'L x 2'W x 3") that a larger company decline to do as they were reluctant to even try. They also suggested to us a special coating that is non toxic and provides a superior surface finish for a wood counter top. Given their extensive work shop in North Vancouver, they also made a beautiful free standing enclosed entertainment shelf out of recycled fir. The 1" finger joints were perfectly machined to enhance the overall look of the finished shelf. They went one step further by incorporating an industrial grade slide out mechanism that allows you to slide out the stereo receiver/turntable to change albums easily or add cables with ease, which is then cleverly hidden by the pull out shelf. In terms of deliverables, they were timely and hand delivered the various pieces of wood that they had completed in their shop. I was working with James who has PHD in Material Sciences, so his knowledge of wood and related processes was another huge plus in terms of discussions on various options in terms of what can be done. We had Tantalus design and produce an iron outdoor porch railing and an indoor stair railing. They blended extemely well with the house design and were very well made. We also purchaced a cutting board and pepper grinder from their kitcken item collection which are both beautiful and functional.

Tantalus has an incredibly high level of design and craftsmanship in their work. Because of good engineering and planning, they can still do stuff at a reasonable cost and can deliver on almost anything you need.

Tantalus designed the most beautiful salt and pepper mills I have ever laid eyes on. The wood grain is beautiful, the finish is smooth, the handle is comfortable and the mills inside grind through peppercorns and coarse salt like you wouldn't believe. These will be in my family for years now. Beautiful product design with a lasting aesthetic.

These guys and their products are great! Each piece is hand crafted and more like art than just hardware. I love using their stuff to impress my clients.

Shawn from Tantalus Design did an amazing job designing and building a custom desk and matching floating shelves to take advantage of an under utilized nook in our new place. Not only does is the space now super functional, but you can also feel the craftsmanship when sitting down to work in the space. Based on my experience I look forward to working with Tantalus design to design and build an outdoor table and bedroom side tables in the near future.

We chose kitchen cabinet handles from Tantalus because they were unique, beautiful, custom made to measure and locally made with BC wood. The handles arrived on time, on budget and look as good as the day they were installed. We would highly recommend this company and their products. Shawn Kay was easy to work with and he had a great sense of design.

Shawn and the rest of the Tantalus team are incredible! Last year we hired we hired them to build a stainless steel sign for our office. What started as an engagement to build a sign evolved into a true showpiece in our lobby and we couldn't be happier. They also recently helped delicately repair an antique table with great skill and using cutting-edge material combinations to ensure it would weather then next decades. I cannot recommend the team enough. I would recommend them
