Onyx & Alabaster / Jekyll & Hyde All the reviews we saw re. O&A were positive, so we engaged them as our design team for a bathroom, laundry & kitchen remodel. Tanya let us know early on that there was not enough in the budget to cover the bathroom. We did not have the good guy. We had Hyde. First of all, do not sign their contract. It's awful for the client. Our main contact w/them was receiving invoice after invoice after invoice, ad nauseam for design services. They charged us about $6,000 in design fees. We have very little to show for it - some pictures with incomplete descriptions. I asked Tanya to send us what they had, but she never did. We were not fully satisfied w/their design. We let them know what we liked & changes we would like to see done. It was almost a week before Tanya responded by dropping us as her client. (They did return our $3,500 retainer. Thank God!) They were intimidating & tried high pressure sales tactics. They were very disrespectful to us. They kept belittling our budget ($35,000). Please steer clear of this firm & save yourself from a very unpleasant, expensive experience. P.S. I just tried to bring up from O&A the folder of our design. The folder I had of our design from O&A is gone. It says: "Sorry! The link to this invoice is no longer valid, please contact your designer." The Miller Family Spring Hill, TN

She coordinated every single aspect - purchasing all the furniture and accessories needed, painting, hanging of artwork and curtains, and clean-up of everything. Tanya created a beautiful living room for my family out of a large and awkward space that I couldn't envision what to do for design. I wanted to make it modern, functional and comfortable. She achieved all three and helped me incorporate color in a sophisticated yet fun way. She worked within our budget and I love the results! When we first met with Tanya to discuss decorating the open living space in our new home, she made us feel completely at ease with all the questions we had – this was our first experience with a design professional and we had no idea how the process worked. After a few meetings to discuss our preferred style, budget, and needs, we began the selection of some of the fabrics, color palates, and larger pieces of furniture. For the most part, we only had a style that we wanted to follow. We had a couple of very specific requests, and Tanya knocked these out of the ball park. (We wanted a pedestal-style dining table and a cool wall “back splash” behind our tv.) We really appreciated that for the larger, more expensive pieces in our home, Tanya selected a few options from which we chose. Most of all we wanted everything to look amazing yet still be completely livable. She accomplished that with perfection. Tanya took our general, jumbled, not-artistic ideas and created an AMAZING space for us. We have had our new furniture and space for over three months now, and can say we are as happy (maybe happier?!) about our home today as the day of our reveal. And about the “reveal” – Tanya had all of our new pieces shipped to a local warehouse, and when everything arrived we vacated our house for the day for her team to come in and work their magic. We arrived home and had a true “big reveal”: everything was in place and perfectly set up – talk about WOW factor! Tanya and her team made this process so easy – communication was excellent and fast, our space is beautiful, the pieces are of great quality. We can’t wait to work with Tanya Hembree Design again!

Tanya has worked with us on four projects, all are condos and homes that we manage. Everything thing she does is right on target: Color, Space, Cost. Tanya Hembree is a miracle worker. She took an outdated, rundown beach condo and turned it into a chic, relaxing, gorgeous space that will serve our family and rental guests for years. Her creativity and exceptional problem solving skills enabled her and her team to complete the project (to include total kitchen gut) in less than 2 weeks. Exceptional to work with; her passion for design, organization and client satisfaction is evident in everything she does. Will definitely hire her again!

Tanya has the unique talent of being both extremely creative and organized. I have to be honest, I was a bit nervous to use her initially because her portfolio was full of shabby chic/fixer upper and that's just not my style. However, I had a gut feeling that she should get a chance to prove me wrong...and boy did she!!! She turned my boring, drab living room into a vintage, bright, vibrant, dramatic space that make s modern nod towards the 20's and 30's without looking like you just stepped into a speak easy. It is absolutely incredible. Tanya can make your vision come to life. She communicates constantly. She doesn't forget things. The install happened the day she said it would and only took a bit longer because the previous home owners had wired the light fixture with speaker wire (!!!) and we had rewire. She communicated cost changes as we went along. I added some things along the way that cost a little extra. But when I said, "no more:)" she was right there with me. She was a great leader and guide in this process. I highly recommend her!

We moved from a much larger home, and we were quickly overwhelmed with the task of deciding what items would fit in our new home. We have antiques and new pieces and wanted to blend them together, as well as adding some new items to create an updated, current look. Luckily we found Tanya through a friend’s recommendation. She had incredible discernment as to what we wanted to keep that was meaningful to us, and what style we were looking for. Within 6 weeks Tanya transformed our home into a place of beauty, comfort, and peace (and stayed under budget!). Our home feels like “us”. Her furniture staging, picture grouping and hanging skills are amazing to watch. She did all the shopping for us and bought us the pillows and lamps and accent pieces that became the “design glue” to our new home’s design. Moving is stressful and you need to get your home back into order as quickly as possible. It was fun working with Tanya, and it felt like we were opening Christmas presents as she transformed each room into its highest potential.

She is professional in her dealings: she listened to us and communicated clearly her ideas, she respected our time, she followed up to make sure her plans were on track with our preferences and our budget.
