I don’t know what to gush about first -Tori’s incredible organizing skills, professional passion, or her delightful personality. All I know is that she was a godsend! I found Tori on Yelp when I was in the final stretch of my pregnancy, desperately needing someone’s help to make my home more child-ready. This meant clearing space for a new little roommate;), decluttering, and arranging all the little things our friends, families and neighborhood mamas gifted us. My instinct to nest was strong. I wanted to have as much as I could have organized before the baby arrived. But my knack for organization was not up to par, and I didn’t have the time to organize decades of accumulation either.
Tori was delight from the moment she walked through the door, and quickly got to work repurposing our adult credenza, previously used to house electronics, now for baby clothing — folding all the clothing, sorting it by type and age level (brilliant), and labeling each drawer with her handy label maker.
During that first visit, I also asked Tori to help me cull my clothing closet - an arduous task that I neglected for years and years. She helped me distinguish the things that I was using versus unnecessarily storing, and helped me detach from the latter.
Day One was a huge success, efficiently completed and with such a good attitude about it all! I asked Tori to help with more organizing! Over two subsequent visits, she went on to organize our book collection (trimming it down and donating the excess), our entry closet (a personal injury lawsuit waiting to happen), and our kitchen (organized previously as if by a blind person). I tolerated my kitchen before, but Tori added structures to it, suggesting bins for organizing kitchenware and baby bottles, moving our microwave to a more usable place thus opening up counter space for food preparation, relocating our plates, glasses and silverware to more intuitive positions, and more! Now I absolutely love working and cooking in my kitchen, and I know it’s because it was so smartly laid out by Tori.
It has been such a lifesaver to have help with something seemingly mundane but so difficult, especially for a busy professional and tired mom-to-be. Fast-forward many months later, my home has continued to stay organized. This never happened before, but Tori gave my household structures to use to contain our belongings, devised a better layout within our spaces, and also imparted some of her philosophies about storing and organizing which has helped us as we moved on and continued to accumulate baby goods, which any new parent will tell you snowballs quickly.
On a personal note, Tori is also incredibly good-natured, a positive thinker, and has a can-do attitude about everything! She is savvy and resourceful, phoning in extra help when necessary, whether about donations or contracting someone to build affordable shelves for us. She left our home far more functional and beautiful than it had ever been. I enthusiastically recommend her!
