About Us

Urban Environments is a full scale design atelier located in Chicago's Lincoln Park. We are fully equipped to help you select the perfect window treatment, wallpaper, upholstery, and provide installation services as well. In addition, we offer interior design consulting as well as home organization. With over 18 years experience within the industry, we strive to exceed the high standards of our clientele. Our full service studio and expertise offers our clients and designers a place to plan and implement a project. Complete with a Hunter Douglas showroom, custom drapery and hardware, roman shades, and an expansive collection of textiles and wallcoverings. We offer professional measure and installation services for all products to help streamline and simplify your project. Please contact us by email or phone to let us assist you in all your window treatment, interior design, and home organization needs. We are available Monday through Friday 12 PM - 6 PM, and Saturday by appointment.

I am so pleased with my new window blinds! With great assistance from Kim Chapman of Urban Environments, I purchased six floor to ceiling shades that are a wonderful color and texture and fit my windows beautifully. Kim was so helpful! Also, I appreciated the installer, who was thorough, professional and pleasant. This is the second time I have used Urban Environments, and I definitely recommend them!

Caitlin and Kim are the ultimate dream team! We have used them for shades in both our kitchen and bedroom, and both times they went above and beyond to create the perfect drapes for our home. It was such a great experience working with Kim and Caitlin. They are professional, talented, personable and attentive to detail. Kim came to our home to offer advice on the selection of materials and Caitlin also offered ideas and provided me with samples from the fabrics I was considering. The installation went smoothly and the results are excellent!. I look forward to working with them again.

Urban Environments has been such a pleasure working with on a client project on the north side of Chicago. Kim and the team bring professionalism and kindness into each aspect of the project from providing design ideas and coordination of install day. My client's words to describe the finished product were "breathtaking" from the family room roman shades and tall sliding door draperies. The master bedroom also had flat romans and one set of drapery that is truly stunning. LID Chicago will continue to work with the UE team and is looking forward to future projects with them. Thanks again!!

They were fantastic. We had a particularly tricky job, fitting drapery into pockets that were quite tight, and not all even throughout the same room. They came up with creative solutions and then installed everything quickly and flawlessly. I liked how they were very keen to incorporate my wishes and make me happy, but also had useful professional opinions to share in order to create the best final result. I would HIGHLY recommend them. Great communicators and also just lovely people!

Kim and her team do an A + job. Kim listens offers opinions in terms of choices that help a client achieve their vision. She met with me after work--none of this 9 to 5 pm business, which I appreciate. Her installer worked with us to accommodate our schedule. And, the work was delivered and installed before the holidays as promised! And, most importantly, we are very happy with the beautiful results! Kim has done smaller projects for me and her pricing is fair and reasonable.

Excellent service and design ideas! I needed help with covering 2 side by side sliding doors with a transom over each door. From the moment I walked in the door at Urban Environments I felt surrounded by positive energy, no pressure, confident that I was understood and would be guided in my decision as much as I wanted from Kim and Caitlin. I could not have asked for a better experience with choosing my window coverings. And then it got even better -- their installer, Tom Ewald, was fabulous with the installation. I love my beautiful Roman Shades! Lots of compliments from everyone walking into my home!

I was looking for drapes for a large loft bedroom window and didn't really know what I wanted. Kim was extremely helpful in the process. By asking questions about my needs, I figured out the look and she sent samples of the fabrics to my house so I could seem them in the light that they would be in vs. just the showroom. She helped me work within my budget so I could get the look I wanted. The installation process went smoothly and I couldn't be happier with the end result.
