This was my first time using a designer to help me remodel my kitchen and powder room and I'm very pleased with the results. Melissa listened to my wish list of things to incorporate into my new kitchen and gave me exactly what I wanted. She helped me plan the design layout and suggested products that I might not have considered without her guidance. My small kitchen not only looks bigger and brighter, but it now has a much more functional layout. I would definitely work with Melissa again since the results exceeded my expectations.

Melissa of Van Zee Design is a very professional designer who helped my husband and me when we moved from our home of almost 40 years to a new empty nester home. We wanted a big change from our 80s traditional home to a more casual and inviting home by the coast. We started with an almost clean slate and she helped incorporate a few favorite pieces from the old home into our new home. She asked questions about our lifestyle and what our vision for the new home would be. She listened to our answers and presented us with drawings to scale and options for flooring, window treatments, paint colors, lighting, and furniture. She and her contractor communicated and worked well together. She was very responsive to our questions, kept us in the loop and I loved working with her. She was so upbeat and cheerful - never intimidating. The costs for all her services and products were clearly noted and nothing is done without your approval. We love our new home and feel so comfortable in it. I would not hesitate to use her again.

My wife and I worked with Melissa Van Zee to help remodel and decorate our home, and we found her to be a great pleasure to work with. We were starting with a sporadically (and poorly) updated mid-century modern home and wanted to restore some of its classic spirit. Melissa started with a great feel for the period and style, but she also worked to understand our specific desires. One of the best aspects of working with her was her ability to push our boundaries to areas we didn't even realize we'd like. At the outset she said that for each decision, she'd be offering us (1) what we asked for, (2) something interesting but a little different, and (3) something that would really push our boundaries. Amazingly, so many of the things we ended up choosing were in category three, and we love the result! She was also clear that she trended away from designing in the "everything matches just right method" that makes the home look like it comes right out of a decorating catalog. She brought an eclectic spirit to the project that created a richness and comfortable "personal-ness" to the final product. Beyond her technical and stylistic abilities, Melissa was very easy to work with. She is personable, responsive, and attentive. She always came prepared for our (many) meetings with samples, swatches, pictures, and lots of great ideas. Over the course of the project I couldn't tell you how many hours we spent with Melissa, but it was many. We appreciated this attentiveness, particularly in light of how reasonable her costs were. Very highly recommended.

We hired Melissa to do the interior design for a full house remodel. This is the best investment we could have made and are forever grateful for her amazing work and transformation of our house, truly remarkable! She has impeccable taste and did such a great job blending our taste with the architectural style of the home. I have worked with Melissa on 2 separate occasions on two major home projects. She helped with everything from flooring, wallpaper, built-ins, lighting, tile, paint, etc. She was amazing in all aspects of the projects. She made the job stress free for me! I worked with van zee design interiors on a small, two bedrooms (for teenagers) remodel with great success. We were on budget and on time. Melissa helped fine tune our vision and then selected picture perfect paint, textiles and furniture. She is efficient and answers each email and text immediately. She stays on an order (for example, for window treatments) until it is 100% complete. Add to that her cadre of contacts for everything from painters to electricians to installers, and you have a one stop shop here. I will work with this firm for future projects and continue to recommend Melissa regularly.

Melissa did an amazing job transforming my entire downstairs when I purchased a new home last year.
