Dea Attar Design

We met Déa at Lazyboy in Kanata in early 2024. We had purchased a newly built home and needed to furnish our open concept kitchen, dining and living room areas. Once we articulated our needs Déa came to our home and provided incredible design ideas. She populated a floor plan with the appropriately sized furniture, materials and beautiful colours. Her collaborative nature allowed us to quickly roll through colours and materials to complete our plan. Déa is easily approachable and a delight to work with. We had a good idea of our needs however utilizing Déa’s design abilities it helped guide us through every step. We love everything about our newly populated, open concept home. I had the great pleasure of working with Dea on the design of my living room. She immediately understood the look that I was trying to achieve. She visited my house to thoroughly measure the living room and get a feel for the rest of the household décor. She presented me with several alternative designs to think about. That helped clarify for me several important details that I might otherwise have neglected. She always worked in a professional and collaborative way, never constraining my decisions. Her help was critical when it came to selecting the furnishings that best met my wishes while staying within my budget. I would be happy to work with her again on a future project.

I was looking to upgrade the look of my living room, and I heard about Dea through a friend who was extremely happy with the outcome. I wanted to work with a designer who would be able to walk with me through the entire design/decorating process at my own pace and on a budget. When I met Dea during my initial visit, I had already purchased a couch and an area rug, but she was able to tie everything around those two pieces in bringing my entire living room to life. She was very patient through the entire process, helping me choose armchairs, focal wall painting, coffee and end tables, lamps, and wall decor. These pieces were often picked months apart, and we exchanged information primarily via email. But, Dea's ability to visualize how each piece would go together in my living space has resulted in a well coordinated room. She is very knowledgeable and provided guidance whenever I had questions about size, metal colours, or placement of items. Dea was also flexible when it came the payment schedule, and she was agreeable to periodic billing as opposed to a lump-sum payment. Most important for me was that Dea is a very approachable and down-to-earth person. You can be yourself when you work with her. I feel comfortable knowing that I have a go-to designer for all my design questions/needs in the future.

Dea will go the extra mile for you. She has visited me in 2 different homes to advise on furniture options and layout for bedroom and living room, as well as helped me select fabrics in the store. She has an eye for what works together in terms of colour, pattern, style, and the space, and you will not be disappointed with her suggestions. She will also take your personal preferences and taste into consideration. She willingly offered me sufficient time to make selections and see that I would be happy with the result. I can't say enough good things about Dea. Head and shoulders above others in her field!

We were moving into a new home and we were unsure how to furnish our great room. Dea came over to see the space then put together some options that would work. We are so happy with how it all came together and turned out!

We were renovating the main level of our home. After striking out with another designer we came across Dea. She was very professional. She came to our home, took all of the measurements, asked many questions about our budget, style, and colours preferences. She presented several options for our living spaces. Once our furnishings were picked she helped with the colour the choices. Never did I once feel pressured to make a choice. She was very attentive and Patient. She offered opinions when asked what she thought about our selections and how they would fit overall with the plan. Everything was recently delivered and it all fits perfectly in our space. I couldn’t be happier. I actually can’t believe it is my home. Each room is unique yet they all work together. I had held off on making some our purchases. We went back to see her again to add another carpet as we loved the look of the initial one. I highly recommend using Dea and would use her again in a heart beat.

We reached out to Dea for her Edesign services for the renovation of our bathroom in our home in Montreal. The process was seamless and distance was no issue. she guided us throughout the entire process, helped plan and optimize our small bathroom space and select materials that fit perfectly in our space. We couldn’t be happier with the result and definitely recommend her work !!

I decided to hire a decorator because I rented a small apartment (less than 700 square feet) and wasn’t sure how much furniture I could put in my living room. I also felt overwhelmed with furnishing an entire apartment, especially since stores were closed due to the pandemic. Since I had never hired a decorator before, I went looking for someone on Houzz.com. I decided to conduct phone interviews with three individuals, including Dea (Dea Attar Design). The reason I choose Dea was because she was friendly and knowledgeable, her prices were reasonable, and she was open to shopping at multiple stores. One of the decorators I spoke to said I had to buy all of my furniture from one store (a store she was associated with), which concerned me (What if I didn’t like the furniture that was available on my budget?). After I hired her, Dea came to my apartment and took measurements. She also asked me a series of questions about what I liked (e.g., colours). During this initial meeting, Dea was friendly and listened to what I wanted. Shortly after that, Dea sent me a couple of possible layouts for my living room. I choose what I liked, which was a combination of the two layouts. After that was done, we started shopping. She told me I could do as much or as little of the work as I wanted. I liked having the choice. In other words, if I wanted to look for items online and then show her the pictures, it was okay. This allowed me to stay within my budget. On multiple occasions, I asked her to do the research. When the stores opened, we went shopping together. At some point, I decided I wanted to paint a wall in my living room. She helped me choose the colour and recommended a painter (my days of painting my own apartment are long gone). When it came time to hang my art work, she recommended someone who could help me. Louie did a great job!! Dea was very responsive. On more than one occasion, I was shopping and noticed some items I liked. I sent her pictures and she responded shortly afterwards to let me know what she thought of them. Before Louie came to put up my art work, she spoke to him about her vision. She told me and Louie to contact her if we had any questions when he was at my place. When he was finished, he emailed her pictures of what he did and she responded to let him know that everything was fine. I am incredibly happy with the services I received from Dea. I absolutely love my apartment!! It looks like it came out of a magazine. I would not hesitate to recommend Dea to anyone. In fact, I did recommend her to one of my friends who was looking for a decorator.

Dea Attar Design is an incredible company to work with! Lead designer, Dea Attar, is a talented and highly qualified professional. She guided us through a complete basement design and reno - from taking precise measurements and working with us to develop a layout and plan that met our family's needs, to advising on the build and helping with all the finishing touches. Thank you 100000 times! Thank you for your patience and assistance, it was truly appreciated. We have been living with oversized furniture pieces for years in our family room, the most important room that never truly felt "right". Déa thank you for your design ideas, fabric suggestions, furniture placement and patience in helping us find the right material for our furniture to make the family room right! Both my husband and I agree this was the best furniture buying experience we have ever had and we know that we will love the pieces that you helped us chose!

Dea Attar helped us to furnish our new 2-bedroom apartment. She listened to our concerns, needs and ideas. Dea downloaded our apartment layout and together we added pieces of furniture and accessories to our space. A knowledgeable and creative designer, who was a delight to work with. We are extremely pleased with the outcome and after many months, continue to enjoy the space that we designed together. Part of the service was having Dea visit our apartment. This helped us with the final touches and more importantly, the selection and designing of clusters for the many pictures to hang on our walls. She listened…she created…and we enjoy it all.
