HyreADU is an independent publisher that helps homeowners understand accessory dwelling units. It covers ADU types (detached, attached, garage conversion, above-garage, basement, prefab/modular), planning, design, construction, costs, financing, regulations, permits, and renting an ADU. The site publishes original research on California statutes, ordinances and permit records. This includes 735 California ADU companies holding the CSLB B general building license, and permit data for Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, San José and unincorporated Marin. It offers 12 free calculators that use the homeowner's own figures. HyreADU is not a builder, designer, lender or developer. It does not design, permit or build ADUs, does not sell rankings or "best builder" lists, and does not publish a national average ADU price. Homeowners can submit a "Get ADU Options" inquiry. Professional matching is still being built, so it is not currently a quote marketplace. Details are not shared with a contractor unless the homeowner agrees.
