Wendy Combs Studio is a boutique residential interior design studio in Portland, Oregon, serving homeowners in Portland and Vancouver, Washington. We work with homeowners who want a home that feels cohesive, calm, and deeply personal. Our studio offers two services: Full-Service Interior Design and the Design Immersion, a focused one to three day in-home design intensive. We specialize in strategic whole home interior design, renovation and remodel design, kitchen and bathroom design, and curated furniture and decor, including furniture procurement. We design to the client's style and love mixing old and new to create warm, elevated homes. Our approach is whole home first, so you're not updating one room at a time without a clear plan. Projects commonly include space planning, cabinetry and layout guidance, fixture and finish selections, lighting and paint selections, and custom furnishings. We loved working with Wendy and would happily recommend her! After buying a new home, we hired Wendy to help us pull multiple rooms together to create a cohesive, warm, and functional space. (This helped our marriage and kept us from spending money on the wrong things!) Wendy has all the traits you would hope for: a great designer and also friendly, thoughtful, collaborative, and organized. She started big with colors and themes and slowly narrowed us down to make choices. Her design plans were beautiful, professional, and incredibly helpful to move forward and purchase the pieces. She found specific pieces to solve problems, such as an island and stools to fit in our kitchen, and connected us with local resources (upholsterers, wallpaper installers) to complete our project. We love our home, and would not hesitate to work with Wendy again.

Working with Wendy has been a dream come true. I’m not even sure how to express how it’s affected us. We bought a home we love, and it has so much potential. I spent hours looking at things I like, but I just can’t pull it together myself. I’m super picky – and not skilled at design. Wendy has been approachable, encouraging, informative, attentive, and directed. We are still in the process of trying to figure out how to complete her suggestions (we did the designer for a day package), but already hiring her may be the best money we ever spent on ourselves. I was afraid we weren’t the kind of people who can afford a designer, but the truth is, we can’t really afford to do this without her. She is worth her weight in gold!

I cannot be happier that I chose Wendy to work with for designing my living room and picking out light fixtures for my home. I used her "designer for the day" services and only wish I had done it sooner. She helped me replace the builders grade light fixtures with elegant modern lighting that I love. She also worked out a design for our living room to replace furniture that just did not feel right in the space. She pulled it all together with layering and accessories so we now have a home that is comfortable and unique. If you are thinking about hiring Wendy, just do it! You will be happy you did.

I hired Wendy as "designer for a day" to help plan our kitchen. I can confidently say I never would have figured out the layout she made and I love it! Its going to be beautiful, and feel light and open with the new window layout and few upper cabinets. I also love the hardware and light fixtures she picked out with me. The only down side is we had to hire someone else to do drawings that could be used in the permitting process but otherwise I love how we knocked out the whole kitchen in 2 days.

Working with Wendy was an absolute joy! I had a living room that was always "off" but no one could ever seem to arrange the furniture or work out a design. Wendy spent a lot of time getting to know my style and preferences and prioritized what was important to me. She was very mindful of my budget. She came up with a room that is relaxing and finally feels like me. Her design is beyond what I could have imagined and my house finally feels like me. I wish I had skipped the name brand retail store a few years ago with the "free" design service and came straight to Wendy.

I consulted with Wendy on putting together a plan for flooring, hardware, tile, cabinetry, paint for our new house build. Wendy is a dream to work with. No ego and at the same time great bringing my Pinterest inspiration board into reality and on-budget to boot! She's organized, friendly, professional, and knows her stuff. I used her for the designer-for-a-day which is a service that isn't easy to find. She got right back to me and I enjoyed every minute of my time with her putting together a plan for our new-build dream home.

I reached out to Wendy to create a new design for my foyer, living room, dining room, and master bedroom. Before working with Wendy, the rooms did not have any definitive style. I had some nice pieces of furniture and artwork, but there was no cohesiveness to how my "style" came to life. The living room and dining spaces are beautiful, and deserved a design that would really elevate the already-beautiful canvas. I was ready for a change and knew that I needed help. Wendy helped me by delivering an elegant design solution in which one room naturally flows into the next room with each room retaining its own distinctive look. Wendy guided me through a comprehensive process that helped identify the styles, colors, textures, and materials that I like. This was used to create the final design. What made me most happy about working with Wendy is that she made the process (which could have been really intimidating) pleasant and she has given me a design that will make me LOVE the transformed spaces.

Wendy is wonderful to work with and offers a variety of consultative packages to best meet your needs. I've worked with interior designers before and was much more satisfied and impressed with Wendy. She was wonderful at helping me think outside the box and proposed a variety of different options. Wendy also helped with measurements, which I greatly appreciated because I somehow always managed to get this part wrong on my own. I think the most impactful thing about working with Wendy is that she helped me envision our space in ways that I hadn't considered before. Wendy delivered a really unique and actionable perspective to design for a house we purchased sight unseen. She helped give us a signal through the noise and help us hone in on what we were looking for in an overall aesthetic. I was skeptical as we are primarily DIY people but I'm convinced that Wendy helped speed up a long process of move in design choices, as well as, offer true expertise. Her two deliverable that I think were super impressive was her prioritization plan in the form of a google sheet that helped knock out low hanging fruit and loosely outlining the larger projects for down the road. The family we purchased our home from had owned it for a very long time and it showed... Wendy's design plan helped us modernize with just simple color choices as well as arrangement of our furniture. In general, personality wise Wendy felt like an old friend that has the "eye" and it was overall great experience. We look forward to working with her more in the future.
