We started construction on a new home on Bowen Island in the Fall of 2015. The first builder went bankrupt at the end of the pre-construction phase. We discovered that the second builder was presenting invoices for reimbursement that were never paid, was not following the architect's blueprints and his work was not compliant with the building code - we had to fire them. Galen stepped up, salvaged the project, and completed the house. He was a professional and did an excellent job of fixing the prior builders defects and finishing the project. We would hire him again in an instant if we were ever going to build another house.

A total home renovation is one of the more daunting tasks a family can undertake. From our first meeting with Galen we were thoroughly impressed with his professionalism, integrity and knowledge base. Working with our architect, Galen understood exactly what we wanted to do and how to get us there within the confines of our budget. Although it is expected that renovating an older home will come with surprises, Galen was able to problem solve quickly and efficiently often with several solutions allowing us to choose one that met our families needs and concerns. Throughout the process it became clear to us that Galen has a wealth of knowledge and sophisticated skills in planning, construction and project management. Finally, when a warranty issue did arise, Galen dealt with it quickly and efficiently. It was really appreciated. We would not hesitate to recommend Galen or to use him again.

We worked with Galen when we built our house and we were extremely happy with the whole process. The project finished on time and on budget, and we felt we had complete visibility throughout. When issues arose during the process, whether related to the building process or coming from us, they were efficiently communicated and the consequences of any decisions were clear to us before we committed. We dropped by the site unannounced frequently, and we always found a full crew working hard, usually supervised by Galen directly. He is clearly committed to getting things done right, and is engaged in making sure that it is. He was also very active in making sure we got the agreed upon quality without breaking our budget - in one case getting a subcontractor to redo some work which he felt was substandard and in another getting us excellent deals for material (in this case flooring) that was normally outside of our price range. We would not hesitate to recommend Galen to anyone, and have in fact done so on several occasions. Should we ever need to engage in another building project, Galen is the first person we'd turn to.
