Atlantis Architects

I hired Atlantis Architects for a renovation of my home. They had been highly recommended by a neighbor who hired them for a home addition. It was a wonderful experience. They worked very closely with me to provide plans that were exactly what i wanted. My entire home was transformed with a new Kitchen, master bedroom and bath, den, and garage plus every room was updated. Derek Barcinski and his team worked with me throughout the entire project making sure everything was done perfectly. Since that time, they have worked on two projects for other members of my family. If we didn’t think they were the best, we won’t continue to hire them for their great expertise.

I had an awesome experience working with Atlantis. Derek walked us through the ins and outs of a rehab of a historic building in Tarrytown. Honest, knowledgeable, responsive, and very helpful. Simply the best! I highly recommend.

We hired Derek to design a second story renovation for our home. He worked with us to come up with a design that expanded our home while keeping its original character. He listened to both of us and focused on finding solutions that we were happy with. Derek also consulted with our contractor while the house was being built to help ensure everything went smoothly. Overall we enjoyed the process of working with Derek and love the end result.

We hired Derek to design a plan for an addition to our central Austin home. We are not at the construction phase but Derek has been so helpful and attentive to our requests and needs. We gave home our list of 'wants' and he creatively and practically fulfilled them. We highly recommended him!

We hired Derek Barcinski and his team at Atlantis Architects to design our home and we couldn't be happier with the results. The shape of the lot and our desire to design a home around a number of existing trees made our project unique, but Derek was up for the challenge. Derek's creativity and attention to detail is second-to-none, as was his ability to understand our intents and ideas during the design process (he is a great listener). He was very efficient and timely in responding to our emails and phone calls regarding questions, comments, or design changes and often came up with solutions that we couldn't see ourselves. During the construction process, our subcontractors often commented on the "spot-on" accuracy of Derek's drawings. We were so pleased with Derek and Atlantis Architects that we have hired them for a second project and would recommend them highly!

Derek Barcinski, of Atlantis Architects, designed a wonderful two story addition for our home. He did a great job in working with us to assure that the addition blended nicely with the existing structure and maximized our view. His coordination with our contractor and engineer helped assure that the project was on track. The addition is now our favorite part of the house!

Derek with Atlantis Architects designed a beautiful plan for our kitchen remodel. He has been invaluable in the process, working with our contractor to make sure the project is done according to plans and has been a great resource when we need speciality subcontractors.

Derek designed our second house renovation and my husband and I were very pleased with the results. He was prompt, efficient, and had super but manageable/financially doable ideas. I am only bummed by the fact that I didn't follow ALL of his suggestions. I respect and value his knowledge and experience so much so that I would certainly use AtlantisArchitects again.

I used the expertise of this company in designing a home that is situated on a small lot on a lake. Needless to say, we had many issues to deal with, ranging from city and lake permits to engineering our foundation. Derek helped us immensely by paying close attention to our desires and putting them into a effective house plan. We have been in our home over 19 years and love the common sense put into our design as well as beautiful views that take full advantage of our lake property.

In December of 2012 we completed our 3600 sq ft. new build in Rosedale, Atlantis was nothing short of a blessing for us. WE chose for the project to take 18 months(design to build) and we gladly paid Atlantis to work with us through every step of the process. I am a bit shocked to see anything less than an amazing reviews for Derek and his team...I have to think the review above is missing some facts. You dont "fire" your architect and not get your plans back...unless you forgot to pay him for his work. Something doesn't add up. Regardless, my wife and I enjoyed our time with Derek, Ashley and Kelsey. Our home is amazing and we love pulling up the driveway every day and taking pride is the design and feel of our house. My husband and I have worked with Derek on numerous projects - including 2 major residential remodel projects and several commerical projects. Not only are his designs fresh and inspiring, but he is flexible and easy to work with. He is talented with new construction and also with remodel projects. Part of his talent is his ability to preserve and work with original features of the space that work and blend in new features that compliment and greatly improve the livability of the space. We have also been very happy with his guidance on interior finish out, materials, fixtures, color palates, etc. We have know Derek for almost 20 years and he is highly professional, honest and ethical. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

We hired Derek Barcinski to design a kitchen and bathroom remodel. He spent the bulk of the design budget developing as build drawings of our existing home. The as built drawings contained numerous errors. The drawings that he developed for the bid phase were incomplete and lacked sufficient detail for the contractors to provide an accurate bid. His proposed design far exceeded the budget we have given him for the project. The design lacked imagination and he was difficult to work with, so we fired him. As a result of that, he refused to return original house plans that were provided to him. Definitely one to avoid.
