A Lost Art Stonework Design

Doug is an extraordinary stone mason and artist. Our patio and wall are one of a kind, which people view in awe passing by. Highly recommended.

Doug Bryant and his crew at A Lost Art transformed our garden in so many wonderful ways, all around the house on a very steep hill with quite a few unique challenges. He created dry-stacked retaining walls that have held up perfectly for 20 years, and made patios, walkways and special features (multiple stone benches) that we treasure. Doug is an extremely creative problem-solver and comes up with outside-the-box ideas that are delightful. If I could give A Lost Art Stonework SIX stars I would.

Doug is a craftsman of the highest skill and also an artist. We have hired him for a few different stone projects and we could not be more satisfied with his work. The more time passes, the more beautiful his stonework becomes.

The stone work is beautiful! Also, Doug’s design work, both planned and on-site, is terrific. He worked with some particularly challenging grade changes and made everything look seamless and intentional. At the moment our California storms are giving our drainage and grading a full test and our stone work is passing with flying (flowing?) colors!

Doug Bryant and his 'A Lost Art Stonework Design' did an incredible job for me about 10 years ago that continues to wow my wife and I on a daily basis. I initially wanted a simple sonoma stone wall like so many you can find in Cali. He recommended a dry stack curving wall with a different kind of stone from Sonoma. I liked the idea and told him to do it. It was and is really beautiful, artfully connected to the home and gardens it surrounds. He also set a number of standing stones within the curve/garden area that were well chosen and beautifully placed. It is by far the most successful - exterior enhancement to our home I have seen. He has great vision and follow-through.
