IceStone began in 2003 with a simple concept; transform waste glass into something beautiful. The co-founders set out to create a business that integrated sustainable, responsible practices from process to product, and to provide a high design solution that would address a real problem. With capital investment from angel investors such as Ben Cohen from Ben & Jerry’s, activist and author Dal LaMagna the founder of Tweezerman, Greg Steltenpohl from Odwalla, and Gary Hirshberg from Stonyfield Farm, IceStone recycled glass surfaces were brought to market. IceStone has diverted over 13 million pounds of glass from landfills, and has given employees partial ownership of the company, all while manufacturing our product in the historic Brooklyn Navy Yard. While looking for ideas on Houzz, I saw a picture of a Moroccan Red Island. I became obsessed with finding a local distributor. Michelle at Icestone recommended I contact Noga @ the Stone Specialists in Brooklyn, NY. I will be forever grateful to IceStone for this recommendation. My island design is very unusual (almost octagon), so it was not easy to find someone who could do one that big and keep costs at a minimum. The whole process was seamless on my part. Noga brought stone choices, schedules were synced, they came out to do a template; then two weeks later installed my island counter top. The installation was done by Noga's husband Uri and their company is a 3rd generation family business. As a remodel neophyte, I was amazed at the whole process. Interestingly enough, Stone Specialists will travel far and wide to install their products. The end result was exactly what I was looking for and I couldn't have asked for a more professional installation. I would recommend them to anyone; they were outstanding!! Not to mention I LOVE MY MOROCCAN RED ISLAND; in my mind it's Burnt Orange and just what I was looking for as a POP of color.

Well - we loved the idea of this. Recycled material, and the colors are beautiful. But only a year after installation, my counter developed a crack. The installer wants to charge a hefty fee to just inspect it, with no guarantee that it can be repaired, and IceStone informs me that cracks are not covered in their warranty. Not sure what would be covered then, as this would be a major thing I would be concerned about. Follow up: IceStone encouraged the fabricator to inspect the counter at no cost. A satisfactory repair was done to the counter.

This product is fantastic! We have a 10" overhang on a peninsula that the fabricator was able to provide without braces under. He was able to do this by installing reinforcement rods in the slab. Nothing visible! This product makes that an option that cannot be done with stone. The fact that this has recycled materials is really cool as well. The oyster shells really glisten in the light. We absolutely love this material!

In my recently renovated kitchen I chose to use IceStone for the countertops. I liked the idea of using recycled glass and seashells. It is so beautiful! I chose the Sage Pearl because of the green throughout the space including the green glass subway tile backsplash. Everything ties in so well. Very happy with this product !

Howells Architecture + Design

I have used Alpine-White IceStone in several kitchen and bath projects, and my clients and I have been very pleased with the result. I like to spec American-made products wherever possible, and IceStone is not only durable but also beautiful and refined. There are many green gimmicks out there, where sustainability and recycled components take the place of beauty and performance, but IceStone's countertops are of true and lasting value.

The Sky is the Limit Design

As a designer for high end interiors I find Icestone a fabulous options for a sophisticated beach-y look. The small bits of Mother of Pearl are creating an elegant shimmer amidst the small chards of coloured glass.
