The Sky is the Limit Design

I had the privilege of working with Ines Hanl of Sky is the Limit on a very contemporary water front residence. Ines did an amazing job of interpreting the design of the context and was very complimentary to the 'architecture'. She assisted us with the kitchen and washroom and she also helped us make decisions with lighting configurations throughout the interior spaces and exterior landscaping features. Ines is most accommodating and enthusiastic to be part of the 'team'. Her previous experience as a 'set designer' really shows in her ability to plan the final product. She kept in touch with the owner, myself and the builder in every phase. I highly recommend Ines!

Before moving to Victoria, my husband and I built a house, did 3 major renovations, 3 smaller ones and worked with two other designers. I found Ines via Houzz and loved that her projects were all different. From the day we had our first consultation until the project was completed, we found Ines a joy to work with. She worked well with our contractor, introduced us to excellent craftsmen and suppliers and, most importantly, listened to us and gently guided us when necessary. I highly recommend Ines to anyone, whether the project is large or small.

Ines Hanl is the sole designer of this firm, The Sky is the Limit Design. And indeed, Ines has an unlimited amount of design ability. I have hired her to do a renovation of a 14 year old condo that I have recently purchased. I have been working with her since April and I am very pleased with her work to date. The demolition and re-framing has now occurred in the condo. Dry walling is just about to begin so it will be several months before the project is completed. What I have found with Ines is that she is very pleasant and professional to deal with. Most important of all is that she is very talented as a designer; She comes up with innovative ideas that are functional, attractive, unique and entirely suitable to my needs and wants. I finds she listens carefully to my concerns and ideas and she understands me as a person. Ines is very timely is responding to my questions and requests. I have watched her work with sub trades and it is clear that they respect her and she is knowledgable about the intracies of their work.The condo is not yet complete but I have full confidence that it will be as lovely as it appears on the drawings. I have a lot of unique ethnic pieces that she has been able to incorporate into the design of the condo which I am thrilled about. One is a lovely carved teak pillar that has been in storage for many years because I did not know how to display it. It took Ines very little time to create a very practical way to put this pillar into the condo and I feel confident it will be it will be place perfectly, thanks to her superb design skills. There have not been any nasty surprises budget wise from Ines. She has been good at suggesting alternatives to keep costs reasonable.

We are still in fairly early stages of a whole home renovation project with Ines providing the design. So far we find her to be an artistic and enthusiastic person. She thinks outside the box and listens to her clients; she is not threatened by clients asking too many questions, voicing their opinions and perhaps disagreeing with her. She helps smooth the waters between spouses who have differing opinions and helps interpret the contractors ideas and feed back. She is fun to work with.

Just looking at the pictures of the undulating wood kitchen, it made me stop. This is the first kitchen design that I just said OMG. Love it. My area is too small and my spouse too conservative, but I'm drooling.

This lady knows her stuff, and then some. I was originally looking for someone professional who could design my new kitchen and ultimately ended up wanting Ines to redesign the entire main floor of our 1930ish Craftsman Style home. I had researched companies for hours, reviewing industry awards and customer ratings. One particular evening while wading through portfolios, I hit on The Sky is the Limit Design and saw some humor in the choice of business name. Ines's photo's of her projects in my opinion were head and shoulders above any of the others I had seen. I kept saying "OMG" or "Wow". She added artistic elements to each home that were simply stunning. I am having way too much fun. Ines gets me, gets what I like, what I want and how to put it all together. This is a long distance job for her (1,800 km). It requires a great deal of clear communication and precise organization on her part for things to go smoothly. This is a work in progress and I will add photos as work is completed. I am now saying "OMG" looking at my own house. If you are looking for a Designer with an artist's vision, a keen sense of humor, loves your pets and works with awesome Trades - this is your girl!

We had an opportunity to do some design work with Inness and it was a wonderful experience. She is so talented and was easy to talk to and took the time to understand what we were interested in and then added to that. The final plan was just what we wanted and we are undertaking the build this year. We hope to reconnect with her soon to continue the work.

Being an industry professional since 1985, I've had the opportunity of working with dozens of residential kitchen designers over the years. I've seen a very wide spectrum of skills and talents displayed in the work of some of the most influential architects and designers in the Pacific Northwest; including Ines Hanl Although my association with Ines has diminished over the past few years due to geographic constraints, I still retain a very high appreciation for her creative style and her practised design skills. She remains as being one of the very few in my experience, who is gifted with the natural talents of an artist while possessing the inherent technical understanding of an architect. Add to these attributes a passion to realize her visions, along with an ability to guide the project toward it's invariably successful conclusion, and you have the reasons why her firm is aptly named 'The Sky Is The Limit Design". As I read about her awards continuing to accumulate, and when I see her latest projects appearing in the media, I'm reminded that if I ever have the need to retain a top-level interior designer, Ines Hanl's name would most certainly be near the top of the short list of those that I would consider. We had the pleasure of working with Ines from the Sky is the Limit Design in 2006, as we gutted our existing kitchen and started from scratch. Ines' ability to understand our requirements, wish-lists, and dreams and translate them into real life is extraordinary....and always done with a sense of humour!! Repeat business is the best compliment. We are in the process of designing and building a new home, and Ines designed it for us. Now the fun of the interior finishing begins.
